You'll see that a lot in this comic, characters randomly pulling out weapons we never knew they had (and they didn't) for the sake of hilarity. Note that Rand is seen here randomly pulling out a sword out of thin air.

Makes me wonder how someone would survive going back to "normal" area with an injury like that.

Because PCs can survive sword impalations, lightning bolts, and meteor strikes. Being impaled on a massive spire is nothing.
Or, it does 12d6 damage and twelve ones were rolled.

Comic 187 is up. Granted it did take a long time to make, but due to the crappy server (I swear its gotten 5x worse since they started making improvements) it got delayed yet another day.
