Not so. Witch can be used in the masculine. It is rare, but it is possible.

Would Tajira be able to defend itself if Alphantica attempted to bomb it?

At the very least, Tajira has the Yamato, a powerful weapon in it's own right. On top of that, it has it's recent alliance with the Sovices, a race known in hushed quarters for wiping out planets of species.

However, on the note of avoiding Locate City, the explosion method noted by Lpenguin, they would either need to deafen the cities to divination effects (Such as with Hide the Path, which would protect at least 2200 sq ft for a day per casting) or spread out the population enough to eliminate the city size specified by the caster (At the worst they can target Thorp, meaning they would have to spread out to have no settlement with 20 or more residents)

Locate city bomb doesn't work that way, there was a thread around that went into the details of, and they worked out that the effect only harms people, not objects, so basicly people fly away until they hit somthing and take 1d6 damage, so most people will take 3d6+2 damage at most.

Still thats enough to kill the entire 1st level commoner population, while leaving every building perfectly fine.

The problem is this leaves the city with a group of marginly annoyed 5th-6th level characters, and 1 1st level commoner who rolled a natural 20 on his reflex save, only to be very confused when his family, friends, and all his livestock and pets suddenly dissapeared.

Which leaves the Explosive AftS as the still most powerful, because it adds in 10d6 elemental damage to begin with.

Well, Kpenguin's already been building up to an attack on Tajira, and it sounds like this attack would leave Ins and the sovices alive for the most part. It's just destructive enough to advance the plot, but not powerful enough to derail it.

He's had 2 comics talking against it, I get the feeling it'd be best either way if we didn't blow up the local population of Kashu.

That way, we get the running villains of Ins and Tvor, allowing for even more possible plot points later on.
