Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
Does the line have more effect if you know the context of it, because it just sounds weird to me.
How many Discworld books are they by the way, I searched it and got a massive list. It was overwhelming.
@V: of course it's rare, proper British Gents don't cry unless there's a good speech, extra points if it's the Queen.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
It is a beautiful speech. I've more or less memorised it, too. And i think the first time i read it, it did move me to tears (which is an oddly rare thing for me.)

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
Phew. Tired.
Just came back from the end of school party.
I'm tired, or kinda.
I somehow apparently didn't make a fool out of myself!
I had a lot of fun tonight with my group of friends. And I met a girl tonight(who also belongs to that group)
No. Not like that.
Anyway it was lots of fun, I discovered I had more in common with my friends then I thought. (We discussed how awesome Ian Mckellan is!)
So even though the rubbish was music, I didn't like the food or drinks and the icecream was seriously meh. I had a lot of fun with my friends group who I will probably never see again. Well I had lots of fun, didn't make a fool out of myself and came home with several msn adresses.
And I think I'm going to bed now.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
That's great DD, not that you had fun, but that your friends accept how awesome Ian Mckellen actually is.
I had fun at my prom, even though it just had chav music.
Did you dance?

I have read it. Just a while ago. I borrowed it off'f a friend, whom I sadly no longer am in contact with.
There are....masses. 36 to be precise. And a few short stories. And the non-discworld novels. All are brilliant.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
Well, it wasn't prom actually, I'm switching schools. O.o(again. 0.0)
Not really. What they called dancing(which my group DIDN'T particpate in) is what I personally called : Dancing zombie-style but not awesome.
Seriously, even to Celtic music when you dance to it, there's more structure and activity.
While at the back of the room.
I enjoyed feeling the music more then listening to it
It literally vibrated through the floor and such.

City....eggs?
On the topic of dancing. I did that today. Wearing a pink sequined jacket. Jazz hands were involved. Also spinning. Last week there was spontanious Micheal Jackson dancing. I think my friends and I may scare people...

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
I danced at the back of my history class where no one could see me to INXS during quizzes and I still won, well me and my mate.
We got accused of cheating all the time as well, because people thought they were better than us because we don't obsess over things like revision.

Re: Dr. Bath's Random Banter, dripping with daring deeds of dastardly deipnosophists
INXS is an australian band. They're fantastic, especially the song Don't Change.
Don't listen to any of their stuff with the new guy, it's rubbish. I think you can get Listen Like Thieves(on of their best albums) for Ł2.99 at sainsbury's.
EDIT: Here's don't change.

Why's that?
..England has no 4th of July, we have Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night instead.
...Did you know that the word 'guy' is in reference to Guy Fawkes? Well now you do.
