Re: Shipping itp
@RHL: That from the Billy Joel song of the same name?
And the long awaited Cristo/Mordokai shipfic:
Cristo/Mordokai:
Bad Bard!
SpoilerMordokai was, to put it bluntly, darn-diddly-arned annoyed. He'd set forth from his citadel on his noble quest to rescue the beautiful (and politically important) dryad of the Eastern Forest from the Ebil Llamaculador and just who attached himself to his train but the inept Bard Cristo.
"Bravely bold Sir Mordy rode forth from Spamelot.
He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Mordy!
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Mordy!
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken;
To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away;
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Mordy!
His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged"
sang the interfering bard in an openly obvious copy of a song about a certain Sir Robin of Camelot. "Would you shut up?!" he shouted in exasperation. Mordokai drew his longsword and waved it threateningly at Cristo "I swear by my oath to my Lord that if you do not shut up singing that song I shall voilate my oath of not harming an innocent and reenact that song in full on your body!"
"What? It's simply a song about your triumphs as a mighty paladin. It describes my admiration for you."
"Well, it's nice that you admire me; but can you please shut up!" They carried on walking in silence, then Mordokai noticed a sort of coconutty clip - clopping behind him. "No Python!" The coconut noises stopped.
Hours passed and Mordokai felt awkward. The quiet was making him edgy and he'd never been in the company of that bard for so long without a noise, a word, even a half whistled tune coming from his pouting lips. And that's another thing! He was always pouting over having his latest 'masterpiece' banned from being played. What's up with that?! He wasn't a child.
Throwing his shield down in exasperation he turned around and shouted at the bard, "Look! Please say or do something. The silence is getting on my nerves and by my Lord, I miss your blathering!"
"Well, if you insist milord." Cristo smiled widely and began to play on his flute loudly and happily.
Mordokai picked up his shield and walked on, a faint smile on his face now that he had his musician back and happy.
And why's it that I find titles hardest to write?
Enjoy the insinuations I hope've been presented through certain choices in word selection.
And now all I need for some good, good fun is Roguey's permission. Then we can have Serpy/Cristo/Mordokai/Roguey fics.
This may be continued in later fics as well.
EDIT:
randman; I've already PMd my opinions on your fic to you, but let me say that it's very cool. I love it and it's very good quality. I demand more fics from you!Last edited by CurlyKitGirl; 2008-08-03 at 03:19 PM.

Re: Shipping itp
I'll have to watch thelatest film first, but I was going to do that tonight or tomorrow anyway. Harley's the girl right?
I could try RHL (as Harley)/The Joker. But it'd be a bit hit and miss.
@Pyro: then you prolly read the ones in the opening post?
If so: my work here is done.
And you know you're interested despite the brain acid.
@RHL: If you do that I will be one of the happiest fangirls to ever live.Last edited by CurlyKitGirl; 2008-08-03 at 03:44 PM.

Re: Shipping itp
God these last ones are hilarious. I mean making a ship in a 1984 pastiche is pure awesome and so is the Sir Robin routine ship. My favorite bit is Tengu showing just how much mindnumbingly bad Harry Potter fanfic he has subjected himself to out of sheer masochism. It is just so incredible bad that it is awesome. XD

Re: Shipping itp
Can I ask which ones and why?
And it's a good thread. I particularly advise reading Kneenibble's, RHL's, randmans' one and The Princess/Plyground Bride one. That's a collaboration.
And the Phoe/Sweetrein one's are sweet.
Oh, which reminds me, got to do a B-Man/SMEE one later.

Breakthru
Freddie Mercury/Curly
SpoilerI wake up
Feel just fine,
Your face
Fills my mind
Curly's foot bopped along to the music, her mind unwinding along Freddie Mercury's perfect voice, humming mostly, letting a few lyrics slip from her own lips every now and again.
I get religion quick
'Cos you're looking divine
Honey you're touching something, you're touchin' me,
I'm under your thumb, under your spell, can't you see,
Her eyes slipped closed as she contemplated the owner of that voice. Too young, too tragic a death. What she would have given to be there in those last few months, to have given him comfort, affection.
If I could only reach you,
If I could make you smile,
If I could only reach you,
That would really be a breakthru - oh yeah
Curly's eye cracked open, and she took in a sharp breath. Dreaming. Had to be. There, right infront of her, not a foot away, slept the legendary singer, asleep in a hospital bed. A rush of melancholy overwhelmed her, and Curly felt as if her heart were breaking to see him in such a manner.
Even if it was just a dream, she couldn't help but reach out to him, curling her small, cute, girly fingers around his large masculine hand. His eyes opened and rested on her curiously.
Oh, hell, it was just a dream. What harm could it do?
"Mr. Mercury? I, uh...I love you."
Breakthru these barriers of pain,
Breakthru to the sunshine from the rain,
Make my feelings known towards you
Turn my heart inside and out for you now
Somehow,
I have to make this final breakthru.
He smiled softly, slowly, slowly pushing himself to a sitting position, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before leaning over to press an evanescent kiss to her cheek.
"Thank you."
Your smile,
Speaks books to me,
I break up,
With each and every one of your looks at me
Curly's eyes fluttered open, a blush still on her cheeks. So,it had been all a dream. But..but that warmth on her face, that feeling of his lips to her cheek had felt so real...
And the hospital bracelet she now clutched in her shaking hands...
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthru
Not my best, really. I'm sorry if this was disappointing to you, Curly. If it makes it any better, I'm all mellowed out on pain killers....Last edited by RabbitHoleLost; 2008-08-03 at 04:05 PM.

I'm so glad you approve, Curly!
Heh. I prefer Queen's less known music, to be honest, so I wasn't sure how well that would go through, using Breakthru

Re: Shipping itp
Also, I am thinking about making a directory for this.
Done by author/artist first, then by pairing.
Any comments, approval, disapproval?

Re: Shipping itp
This is indeed an awesome thread, lots of quite talented, humorous writing is to be found here. As for these last few I refer to the four that springs to mind are the last episode of the Playground Bride, the 1984 pastiche, Sir Robin's minstrel and Tengu's Evilruteest fic. And going by the good principle of starting from the back I'll start with explaining why i find Tengu's story fun.
First and foremost he just managed to hit the style of utterly atrocious Harry Potter fanfic, intentionally setting out to write the worst, most cliché story possible, something I think he succeeded pretty well at. The other reason is that I know Rutee very well and I know how her and EE really didn't like each other, so seeing them shipped brings a smile to my lips every time I see it. Just seeing someone you know being shipped in a story also tends to make it funnier, at least for me. And i am vain enough to like being given a role in the story
Sir Robin's minstrel is simply fun because i love the movie and especially that scene of it. That both the minstrel and the paladin he serves is fully aware that they are doing that sketch only makes it more funny to see. Also I think you at least got really close, if you didn't get exactly on the spot, I cannot remember the song well enough to tell.
A story as over the top as 1984 would be hilarious if not for the historical significance of it. So anything written in the style of it, will have a good chance to be fun. Also simply having the expected outcome of a fanfic shipping someone utterly reverted to get in line with the original story, was a pleasant and entertaining surprise.
Finally there is the last Playground Bride episode which is ultimately just fun because of how many people you manage to squeeze in and get to interrupt the story that appears to be attempted told. That the interruptions themselves hold pretty fun gags and simply absurd images, like Napoleon, Miyuki and Viral entering a room as a group, definitely helps make it fun.
And for all of them there is the sheer joy I take in shipping and seeing it done constantly and in humorous fashions is plain entertaining for me.
I hope this helps explain why I found the last few stories fun. If not just ask and I'll try to elaborate further. No matter what i really enjoy this thread and most of the stories in it so far, it is quite a display of creativity and since I at least recognize the names and a few facts about most of those shipped there is also enjoyment on that side.

Re: Shipping itp
Directory sounds good, but how do you intend on sorting by the shipees? (I suppose that'd be cargo, not shipees. )

Re: Shipping itp
Your idea for a sorting principle sounds reasonable RHL. In addition to that i would think that in the pairing the member of the pair with the alphabetically first name is the one who should be sorted by. Should the same author have written numerous stories about the same pair then sorting them by title sounds like the easiest solution. Getting it all compiled sounds like quite a bit of work though. I am willing to help if you tell me what you need, though any help will not be rendered until tomorrow since I am about to fall asleep on my keyboard.

As weird as it sounds, that song totally got me through getting my heart broken when I was 15. I listened to Queen, Train, and Dave Matthews Band nonstop. The bad part? Now I can't hear any of them without harking back to those weeks of extreme depression.

And as thread maker if you want, RHL, I cn edit the directory into the first post for easy archiving.
@all who like my Cristo/Mordokai fic: thank you thak you, I had to fight very hard to not reference Python until this late in the thread. Although I did do a very little one in Princess Bride cene the Forth. And I think it suits the tempestous frienship these two have.
@RHL and DRider: I love Queen's more obscure songs as well and Headlong would be a good theme tune fic as well.
@Terra: care to be the Official Fic Reviewer? I love the way you go through the fics you like. Pays 0.0000001p per year with a free hosue after four years.
