Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXVI: It's gonna be the Future Imperfect soon!
Welcome to the 26th ABR Discussion Thread!
Yes, I'm aware how similar the new title is to the old one. I couldn't resist, I really like that song...
Because we used to burn through new ABR threads so quickly, we created the Discussion thread. All banter goes here, and all comics and non-canon kills go in the main thread. (see line below)
No one really makes random kills anymore, I'm afraid.
Avatar Battle Royale: We All Live in A Yellow Citadel is the current thread. Post artwork there.
Even though it seems to be holding together nicely;
The ABR backup thread, is used in the event of Giantitp becoming untenable due to server issues or otherwise.
Someone should make a TJH trailer...

Like a new TV guide...
Before it's sat on, tossed around the room, and manhandled.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXVI: It's gonna be the Future Imperfect s
Nexxus City. Now I need someone to make an opening post descriptive of the rules which are:
-Only heroes unless with PMed permission
-If hero, no killing unless, again, with PMed permission
-Godmodding, nuh-uh
-Do not make a character with powers the same as another characters unless with PMed permission. There'll be a character list
-Do not make an overpowered character.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXVI: It's gonna be the Future Imperfect s
1. Silly message board games free form roleplaying
2. Yes. Power copying would be better and only if the copied power was temporary and with less potency than the original.
3. With player consent and a good reason yes.
Nah, it's cool.
Did I mention flying was a free power?Last edited by X2; 2009-09-07 at 07:54 AM.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXVI: It's gonna be the Future Imperfect s
So, basic superhero mold, eh?
Can you make villains?
@V: Neat! I will go to work and browse through the power page, let's see what kind of murderer I can come up with. Any limits I should be aware of?
Also, how many powers can one have before being considered as godmodding sod?Last edited by Grim ranger; 2009-09-07 at 08:20 AM.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXVI: It's gonna be the Future Imperfect s
^Version. I suspect that was a typo.
I think I'll do the Police liason for the superheroes. Of course, he'll know advanced martial arts and have access to paramilitary tech, so he's not helpless against supervillains.
EDIT: ... Drat. Now I'm torn between the aforementioned police chief and a history monk (for those of you who don't read Discworld, the History Monks are a group of monks who manage time. They use "procrastinators," which move time from where it isn't needed (i.e. the bottom the sea) to the cities. The more skilled History monks do know how to "cycle" which is the act of "slicing" time, allowing them to act much quicker than feasibly possible. Of course, they can't touch moving objects while cycling. A much rarer power (Only mastered by the infamous Lu-Tze) was to mimic the Yeti's time altering abilities, which allowed him to survive decapitation by sending his memories back in time so he takes a different course of action.
It seems a little overpowered, but I still like the idea.
EDIT 2: I think I will go with the Policeman, and here's the concept.
Name: Captain Jordan Tsong
Alias: Non-Aplicable, although more than one person simply calls him, "Chief"
Gender: Male
Age: 36
Race: Human
Powers: Skilled in several martial arts, access to NMB technology
Backstory: Captain Jordan Tsong is a member of the Nexxus City Police force. He serves as a liaison between the Police Force and Superheroes, and he is also the ranking member of the National Metahomonid* Bureau. Captain Tsong is a native of Nexxus City, but his parents hailed from a foriegn country. His father had learned Karate as a child in order to survive on the docks, while his mother, a minor noble, became a master of Kung Fu** in order to have something to do to fight of boredom. Both of them came to Nexxus City to escape the oppresive nature of their homeland, and the two eventually married. Jordan is their only child, and learned martial arts from both of them. Jordan joined the police force, and was recruited by the NMB to liaison with Nexxus City's superhero teams. In private, Jordan has expressed his dislike of his first name and wishes his parents had chosen a more traditional name from the country they were from (Anyone want to name it?).
*I like PS 238. So sue me.
**As you should very well know, in fiction, all Asian cultures are distilled into one. While I don't particularly like this, I don't think having more than one or two Asain counterpart cultures is a good idea
The National Metahomonid Bureau: The National Metahomonid Bureau manages Superhero, or Metahomonid, affairs. Registration is not mandatory, but does make a point of documenting the observed powers of documented Metahomonids. However, the NMB offers membership to Metahomonids who disclose their secret Identity. In exchange, they deputize members into police forces, and offer salaries, so that the Metahomonids can become full-time crimefighters. In addition, Meta homonids who have joined the NMB recieve access to the NMB's supply of technology. Finally, the NMB offers hero insurance, which pays for most of the collateral damage caused by members.Last edited by Squark; 2009-09-07 at 10:31 AM.
