Mafia VIII Game Thread - Day 6

((Uh. Not horribly sure. I didn't really need Evelyn where I was going with this, but it made sense character wise to at least mention her. Though, I'll admit that her death could add a ton to the RP.

"Oh well, that's a shame. I had something I had hoped she could look at. Oh well, you'll have to do." He grins at his brother, and starts rummaging through his coat pockets. "Now where did I put it? Aha! Here it is." Jonathan pulls out a box and sets it on the table.

"A real beaut isn't she? I got this from a... um... "friend". It's a puzzle box of some sort. Chinese or Tibetan or something like that. He didn't really say and I don't particularly recognize the origin. I had wanted Evie to take a look at it and see if it was worth anything. Having a devil of a time getting it open, too. What do you think?"

As day breaks, The Shadow returns to the detective agency, slipping through the back door before returning to visibility, and sighing deeply as he removes his "work clothes" and starts slipping on his pajamas. He then sits on the edge of the bed for awhile, deep in thought. Miss Liriel was certainly a fine-looking young lady, and if he wasn't mistaken she'd seemed a fair bit taken with him. And yet...

He remembers the young lady from what seemed like a previous life, the woman he'd fallen for, she'd fallen for another but he understood, she was still a crack shot. He'd been training her as an apprentence...

And the Joker's troupe had gunned her down.

Of course, that very night the Falcones had gotten him too...

No, O'Connell thinks. I'm too dangerous to get to know. Everyone I get close to, they get hurt...or worse. If I'm not to hurt people...I'm fated to stand alone.

Sighing deeply, he stretches out and pulls up the covers, and is soon fast asleep as the city wakes up.

Androgial because I think his logic is the exact opposite of logic, and I don't like trying to bandwagon people based on what they've been in past games. Plus, I don't really have any proper suspicions.

"Coo! Would you look at that!" Johnathan completely forgets the coin in his pocket, staring at the puzzle box, and turning it this way and that.

"Easiest way might be a hammer, but then it's not worth much to anyone, is it?" he says, prodding the box this way and that. "This is definitely something Evie should be seeing." Johnathan has a sip of his brandy, eyeing the puzzle box in a mixture of wonder and intrigue as he reaches back into his pocket, and pulls out the Spanish (Deblume? Debloom? I don't know.) he found. "Take a look at this beaut then, found that sifting in the... uh... river, the other day." He grins, thinking to himself that the old man didn't really need ALL the things that he'd found that day in the same basket. Wasn't there a proverb about that?

She steps off the train, pulls on her gloves, secures the pins in her hat. Tugs irritably at the hem of her ill-fitting jacket. She hated commercial clothing shops, but hadn't had time to sew a new suit before her departure. Picks up her single suitcase and starts walking.

It is a brisk, sunny day, but the perfect fall weather does little to soften the hard edges of a City clearly on the brink of anarchy. Trash litters the streets, homeless lounge in doorways. She notes that the overriding color palette is dim - brown, gray, beige - and knows that her bright crimson hat stands out like a sore thumb.

She stops in front of a building, checks the address against the note in her hand, and enters. A harried-looking man is sitting at a desk buried in papers. He glances up and frowns at the interruption.

"Can I help you, ma'am?"

She steps forward and extends her hand. "Agent Fairchilde? Nice to meet you. I'm Amanda Parker, Special Agent, East Boondocks, Iowa. The Bureau transferred me here to help with the Imhotep case. I'm your new partner."

[Andre Fairchilde]

"Nice to meet you. It appears there has been a connection between the museum breakout and the slaughter of two dozen terrible Hollywood scriptwriters. One of our officers found some kind of Egyptian beetle at the crime scene - he found it when it burrowed into his thigh and worked it's way toward his heart. We had to cut it out, he's in stable conditon at the hospital."

Meanwhile...... at the local bank

*A small explosion collapses a section of the floor; coughing and sputtering two figures, one large and quadrupedal climbs out. The other figure is smaller and also quadrupedal. The larger one straightens his sombrero and looks around.*

Hmmm...El Puppito, I think we have a problem. Speaks the larger one, now that the dust from the explosion is clearing up, it is obvious this is a llama with a mustache and spanish style blanket on his back.

Yeah, boss. Wasn't the floor of the bank made of wood when we started the tunnel and I know it didn't look like this. The smaller quadruped, a basset hound, scampers around and smells everything.

Oh, I know what happened. We were digging underground to work our way into the bank whenever we were killed by wolves in Classic, so we've shifted to Mafia.

Oh good. So ...ummm...what do we do now?

*The duo go about attempting to rob the bank.*

(The sprinkler system goes off at the bank, and a clanging alarm starts to ring....)

*The llama goes and tries to open the door, because that seems like the most logical way to leave a bank.*

At the shrilling of the alarm down the street, Amanda jumps and looks wildly at Fairchilde for direction.

Ummm....well, lots of these characters all have things from their past coming back to haunt them, right?
So we need to focus on who from Supagoof's past would want them dead. Goof's been at this a long time, so that could be anybody. Also, we need to see who'd want Aemoh dead.

Personally, I'm thinking we can rule out Lex-Kat. If she was evil, either The Phantom or you would have been night killed on night one. I think she blames all her fellow masons for not responding to her posts.

*The duo sit trapped in the probably burning indoor raining bank, looking a little nervous about their impending death by pyrofication.*
