More precisely I've had one idiot online sending me messages along the lines of "Iouhn Iacoub Iinglehimer Schmit
his name is my name touou. That's how you want everyone to spell it right"
    and
"Youur insistence oun British spelling is really annouying. Dou youu nouw see houw irritating this is?"
leading me to hate incompetent trolls more than usual.
Then there was the incident with the drunken stoner at the kebab van last night . . .
I fight dirty. People know this now.
And in general the morons down in the JCR (undergrad common room (situated directly beneath my quarters)) who insist upon playing on the Wii, and playing Mario Kart, and some form of Guitar Hero, and playing on the piano, and playing other instrument, and being drunk, and playing ping pong and singing until three o'clock in the morning nearly every single night this past month.
Oh, and picking on the college cat, whom I've come to rather adore recently on account of missing my own Demon Cat. I'm planning on enticing the Cat up into my rooms for a cuddle later on.
This is on top of: two weeks of computer troubles - mostly serious; three weeks of various illnesses - none serious; being overworked and yet still fitting in much time with friends and, of course, trying to resist the urge to murder everyone around me in various inventive, or at least violent ways.
I now cannot go anywhere in my quarters with the ever-persistent echo of the on-off noise a Wii makes, the whispering refrains of out-of-tune piano and the sirens from Silent Hill in my ears.
I have either gone insane or developed tinnitus this past month.
I do not sleep well if I hear noises.
My patience is at its very tether.
Murder is looking indescribably attractive right now.

And when I deal with things there are repercussions.
When I deal with things they stay dealt.
My vengeance will not be swift, it will be drawn out, prolonged, extended, dare I say, even protracted. It will not be silent - for the most part - but it will be untraceable, rather like the deeds of a particularly cunning fox.
I am a firm subscriber to that ancient Klingon proverb about revenge after all, and as a nerd, a female, a teenager, and a rather vindictive older sibling I shall bring the full weight of my somewhat nimble intellect down upon those who dare even think to harm me or mine in any way, shape or form.
And I happen to be versed in medieval history too . . .

Yes. I am a little annoyed, why do you raise your eyebrow like that?
I'm not raising an eyebrow! I wasn't doing anything that might provoke you!

Firstly and less importantly, universities don't exactly have headmistresses.
(Sidenote: Initially typo'd 'headmistress' to 'meadmistress'. Now imagining a school run by a drunken Viking woman)

But more importantly, I didn't get the impression it was a fellow student.
At least I hope no-one at Oxford University is that stupid...

"One idiot online" kind of implies the idiot has been encountered solely online and is not an Oxford person. If they were, the sentence would more likely be phrased "One idiot has been sending me messages online," etc.
Also, complaining about British spelling. Yeah, foreigners can go to Oxford as well, but why would someone who finds British spelling annoying even consider going to Oxford?

What Cobalt said, essentialy. I'm not all that smart when it comes to how universities work, but I'm sure atleast some of those people are in simply because they bought there way in, or they got in by luck. Ie, stupid undeserving Peons that Curly will likely smash under her boot.

But what I meant is that, the way it is written sorta implies that the online person taunting her is from her local area. I'm probably wrong.

    Certainly so!

I hear unfortunate rumors that senior trips will be canceled at my own school district before the start of next year, though, so I have a sad premonition in that regard. Though they are just rumors, likely started by paranoid freshmen during my own freshman year. Seemed so far off then~
Though I do seem to recall them previously telling the junior classes where the trip would be headed their senior year, so hrm. Makes me sorta iffy on how I should interpret the situation. Massive budget cuts are a shame, yeah? Though they still find the funds here to renovate where there needs to be no renovation. But that is a tangent unrelated.

When is it scheduled for you?

Any noises, or specific ones? I find some noises (like a fan heater running on fan-only mode) to be quite restful--if you're the same, you might try to generate your own noise to concentrate on that covers over what's happening in the room beneath you.

If that's no good, I've got nothin', sorry--although I don't remember things being as bad as that when I went to university!

Is the education system in America really that corrupt? Pretty sure you can't buy your way into uni here. Especially not Oxbridge - as the two most prestigious universities in the country, and easily in the top ten worldwide, they'd have to be squeaky clean.

Having connections in the registrar's office or dean's office is a valid tactic on the other hand

Not that I would know anything about that, of course.

As far as I know it is. It could also be a situation like in Canada, where they is an easy as pie scolarship to get in and no one has bothered running for it.

In the end, even if it's some fancy man from Oxford does not make it impossible for them to be jerks. One would argue that since they are so haughty taughty that they are MORE jerky.

In that case, I sincerely hope that I'm only a thought experiment from your side.

Ohh, that is just asking for counter-trolling:
"It haz been broght to my underztanding that yo hose a zignificant hatered toward the orginial Britizh zpelling that I uzually prefere to uze. In an act of utmozt conzideration, I promize to utterly ignore you for the rezt of yor pitiful exiztence, starting now."

Now, I've understood that you prefere the more direct approach (right?), but I find the whole idea of trolling a troll to be a particularily interesting thought experiment to play with on my free time, whenever the oportunity presents itself.

...nope, the precise meaning of this sentence keeps eluding me, as if it was written on the surface of storming water.
    In water.
But then, I'm rather tired, so there are plenty of irrelevant excuses ready, should the need arise.

Did you see the Tintin movie or not? I've heard that it's quite good, but royally confusing for anyone who knows their Tintin. How many extra books did they jam into the original storyline now again? 1? 2?

Control thyself Teddy! Do not get drawn in to the tide of fanart ocean! Though I fear I may be too late.
