I have a few questions, mostly about the first episodes, that have been bothering me.

2. When Nightmare Moon shows, we see a short clip of Applebloom cowering, right next to Sweetie Bell and Scootaloo. Yet in The Call of the Cutie, they act as if they had just met.

I'm fairly certain that taking shelter from the actual Bogeymare under a table with other helpless foals does not constitute a meet-and-greet myself.

Also, model re-use.

3. Twilight lives in the library. Doesn't that mean she would have people coming and going in her house all the time? Granted she lives on the second floor, but there are books there too. Actually, Rarity's "living quarters" are above her business, and Pinkie Pie and the Cakes live in Sugarcube Corner. Is Twilight the librarian?

Twilight lives in what used to be the library. But as Nopony ever uses it... Who knows? As Ponyville grows, its need for a central information hub should increase, but seems instead to dwindle. That is odd, but kids these days...

Twilight being the librarian makes sense I suppose, but the way she treats the place, it's more like a library in the literal sense than in the public facility sense. We have no reason to believe she doesn't own all of those books personally, and that they were just shipped ahead by Celestia.

4. How did Twilight know what the sixth Element was when she sparked it? Is it possible the person who's tuned to it actually decides what it is?

The sixth element is Mystery. Quite literally; "the final element is a mystery" or similar is the line from the show, yes? Twilight Calling it Magic doesn't necessarily reshape that element into magic (just as it does not undo that element being friendship), so much as express dame Sparkle's method of cataloging the phenomenon when it reveals itself to her.

5. There's some continuity issues with Fluttershy. In Dragonshy, we see her incapable of flying despite having wings in dire situations. She couldn't even jump over a crack in the ground not even half the length of her body. However, in episode two when the ground falls out from under them, she instantly saves herself with her wings, and helps save the others. Later on, in The Return of harmony and The Last Roundup, we see her performing pretty incredible physical feats, but in those cases it could easily be character development, or maybe Dash is training her on the side.

A falling creature's wings would naturally flair a bit, allowing them to catch the air. In D&D terms, winged creatures that fall unconscious lock their wings and feather fall. Ignoring that Pegasus wigs couldn't actually support a Pegasus mechanically, of course...

But more to the point, in dragonshy Fluttershy was scared witless over a dragon, and lost the ability to fly over a teeny crack towards the cave of a dragon where they would have to confront a dragon and risk being eaten by a dragon and did I mention the dragon? It seemed to be a very focused terror, a phobia where an otherwise insecure Fluttershy would continue to act. The very thought of a dragon seems to paralyze her, where more mundane (but certainly more acute?) dangers such as actually being turned into living stone don't phase her as much.

I'd like to point out how proud I am that nobody here referred to Kelvin temperatures in degrees.

Ahh this merely underlines my conclusion to not bother with a fleet. Teleporting is always faster.

Harder to beat other fleets with, though.

The problem with having no fleet is that once you are at your target location, you have no real chance of air support.

This part I disagree with. It's not economical, but it's not hard.

Never do anything permanent involving pop culture. Ever.

Trouble is in the definition of pop culture. Symbolism is powerful, and anything can become a symbol. Dungeons and Dragons was a pop culture thing, in much the same way dozens of boy bands do/did exist but everyone thinks N-Sync or backstreet boys when the term comes up.

Don't get a tattoo without meaning, yes. Sure. But codifying that by trying to address the symptom (permanizing pop culture) rather. Than the cause (being fickle with your bodyspace) is going about it wrong. The only reason I dot have an MLP tattoo is because A) they're expensive, B) I want to refine my cutie mark first, and C) they changed the Summer Challenge so it was no longer worth 5,000 points u.u

As for your lengthy responses, well you are certainly more savvy then the typical conquering overlord. I just don't see much value in accruing power in such a manner. I'd get sick of the clerical work within a week and put it off on some subordinates who sooner or later would just pull a Starscream because I clearly don't care and the whole thing would come crashing down. Besides that I'd have to compete with dread lichy spacelords and all. I think I'd find maintaining an empire more tedious then cataloging individual hydrogen atoms for exotic mana deviations.

This is a rather accurate assessment of my own thoughts. Paranoia at having enemies in three dimensional space when I currently operate in 2D space is the only reason I'd care at all; and I'd rather just have enough firepower to be logistically annoying, or stay off the grid.

The only winning move in immortal omnidimensional politics ex machina is not to play.

And I forget that as a specialist in teleporting others don't find it quite as convenient as I do.

You would be surprised what lateral thinking could do to handle this. And specialization runs thin against a horde. Sure, your skill could compensate for a cabal of 20 dedicated meddlers all trying to thwart you. But 50? 80? 2,000?

At the war-scale, no matter what your top end potential is, you measure in Impulse; without any thought or preparation, how much you can bein to bear in an instant. Because anything longer and someone's sensors are picking you up, and any more involved and someone can somehow make something go wrong along the line somewhere.

War sucks. I prefer duels, or non-confrontational meetings.

Bleakbane; I remember the number 230 for a corvette. Odds are it was meters not kilometers... And I used your "everyone is a Lich because everyone can cast to a degree, even if only a spell or two" as a baseline. I under-shot personel count do to forgetting your a land-assault branch more than a naval force (luckily I over-estimated the ship count - I suppose 25 would be more in the ballpark, but didn't want to redo any maths). Still that is numerically terrifying.

Which, I think, qualifies as "that cold." For those of you stuck in the inconsistent US Customary/Imperial/Whatever-you-call-it units, multiply by 9/5 and add 32. You'll get approximately 19ºF, give or take.

20ºF isn't really that cold, especially with a good cap/jacket and while moving around. Sure, I wouldn't want to sleep in it, but it's still walking weather.

I have a few questions, mostly about the first episodes, that have been bothering me.

1. At the beginning, Twilight is reading the story of the Mare in the Moon, which states that the two ponies that controlled night and day were sisters. However, at the end of the second episode, when Celestia calls Luna "sister", Twilight, among others, act shocked. Why? She knew they were siblings.

I think that EVERYONE has managed to ask the same question. I assume it was because Twilight was so busy with the return of Nightmare Moon legend, that she'd glossed over the critical phrase at the beginning.

Or perhaps that's just me making excuses.

3. Twilight lives in the library. Doesn't that mean she would have people coming and going in her house all the time? Granted she lives on the second floor, but there are books there too. Yes, Twilight is the official town librarian. There are several different rooms, and her living quarters are on the upper floor.

Also, given that A.) I don't think I've seen anyone else read a book on the show, and B.) that the library isn't open 24/7, I don't think she gets distracted all that much.

4. How did Twilight know what the sixth Element was when she sparked it? Is it possible the person who's tuned to it actually decides what it is?

She just realized, at that point, that the spark of magic was triggered by her friendship, as opposed to some magical reserves of spell she needed to cast. You can thank the "spark" from the elements when she cast a spell at them for triggering that realization, or just assume that Twilight really got friendship at that one critical moment.

It is being surprised vs. being terrified. In Mare in the Moon and others, she is just startled and so makes a speedy exit to safety. And, to be fair, it's not like the ground disappearing is much of a threat to a pegasus.

In Dragonshy, however, she was terrified of the dragon - even the thought of the dragon. Just repeatedly thinking about it caused her to sieze up, including her fainting and inability to fly right.

You aren't the only one to notice Fluttershy's greater physical activity in the second season. Actually, even with the first part of Return of Harmony, a lot of people noticed her being more animated than in the first season. Needless to say, we're seeing more action scenes from Fluttershy (Return of Harmony, Lesson Zero, Last Roundup) with this season.
