See, that's how I understood it. Your friend found a listing asking for Trans to come meet the list-er. Then a joke came to mind about it being a trap. It didn't sound to me, nor did I mean, that a Trans was setting the trap.

I prefer chocolate in most cases, or other things in other cases.

Well, that's what I assumed! Vanilla is the STANDARD flavour of ice cream.
But SMBC generally knows what it's talking about, so I thought I'd check. :P

Sure lignin, which is a major structural molecule in plants, can be broken down by gentle combustion into a wide variety of small structures, one of which happens to be vanillin. All you have to do is concentrate the vanillin.

Apparently I was wrong. Lignin synthesis of vanillin produces lots and lots of caustic waste. Nowadays, they use guiacol which is found in tar. Read more here.

I linked to a site on the etymology. It says that the word "vanilla" did derive from the word for "vagina", but that the specific use "vanilla sex" did not.

You have attributes, skills, and powers.
For most things, you use attribute+skill+[modifiers]. That's how many dice you roll, and only one of those dice has to be high enough to count as a success. Some long term tasks require rolling multiple times; painting a masterpiece could require 20 successes. So you add all of them up when you roll, and keep going until you hit 20.

You have powers (gifts, rites, regeneration) that are powered by an expendable pool (essence; think mana), and their strength is tie to your power stat (primal urge). Your power stat also affects how well you resist enemy magics.

Everything else is story. WoD is designed so that as much can be handled through story a possible, and when dice are needed, you quickly figure out what is needed, roll it, and get on with the story. It's much less dice dependent and rules dependent than Dungeons and Dragons.

Character creation is a little more technical, but can be solved by the old standby of "figure out what kind of person this character is, what they like, what they do; then pick stats hich reflect it".

Watching and joining later (if at all) is cool too, though. We'll be here to help you if you need it.
