Re: Coid's Crowing Conundrum of a Canticle of Crookedly Random Banter #185
Could be worse. I was once forced to read all of Pride and Prejudice for my English GCSE and all because of a scene involving Colin Firth and a wet shirt. Suddenly everyone* became obsessed with that damn book and the wretched scene isn't even in it.
As a fifteen year old kid, I wasn't interested in the slightest about the fact that Elizabeth Bennet thought Mr Darcy the most awful snob, or how scandalous it was that Jane ran off with the caddish Mr Wickham.
Why couldn't we have studied a story with meat to it like 1984 or Animal Farm?
Yeah, Ms Austen and I don't see eye to eye.
* Everyone, that is, that went warm and melty at the sight of Colin Firth in clingy wet period costume.

Re: Coid's Crowing Conundrum of a Canticle of Crookedly Random Banter #185
While I agree with you about Ms Austen I don't agree on your reasons. The internet has this juvenile belief that "higher stakes" equals "better content" and that is just nonsense. Just the mostly widely believed rubbish today, second only to "pop music is bad because it's pop music".

I know it's easy, it wasn't intended to be hard. Just enough to make it ridicilous, but leave room for the possibility of happening (which I indeed may have spoiled)

Because I find referingo friend as a 'ex' silly, as if he as never made out, then there can have been no makeouts, which is a necessity for a real 'relationship' to begin. Without the makeout, it is just "something MIGHTA happened"-ship.
Indeed. I said it for the comedy. I DO EVERYTHING, FOR THE POORLY PHRASED COMEDY.

See, this is why I rarely discuss relationships with Mynxae except to disapprove of his every action.
They're just too complicated.
And I had something intelligent to say right about here, but it's gone...
But I'm not trying to be entertaining!
I was having a serious and non-antagonistic argument!
See above: He does everything for the poorly phrased comedy.
However, don't be confused, he conceals a keen intellect behind that façade of difficult to properly understand posts and overwhelming zaniness.Mauve Shirt, Savannah, Gnomish Wanderer, Cuthalion and Smuchmuch get cookies for making me avatars. (::)

Re: Coid's Crowing Conundrum of a Canticle of Crookedly Random Banter #185
Yeeees... possibly. It has an Oriental ring to it. Do you have tickets? Are you inviting me? :D
You mean, mutual intelligibility but funny-sounding? I didn't know that: she just told me she spoke Swedish. I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference, anyways, unless you and she were standing on either side of me enunciating everything slowly. In her defense, she was a very senior academic and a director, so maybe she actually did speak proper Swedish?
But unto Curlily's curiosity: surely, somewhere in the Swedish academy, there is a canon of classics? Strindberg is so celebrated a playwright that we had a Strindberg Fest here two years ago, and he can't be your only literary export.
TREE, IT'S A TREE, LA LA LA LA LA LA LA
Do the flowers smell at all? Are they pretty? Are there bees in them? *frenzied excitement*
I swear you made your face so only the truly devoted would bother responding.
You ought to post pictures, yes. You shall be judged and judged harshly. I myself wonder whether I should post pictures of my November moustache, which I am enjoying so much that I plan to keep it.
We can win! That last game was not representative of our skills nor our harmony as a team: merely the hazards of me not massing phoenix immediately.
If I may chime in on this topic: tea loses its flavour a lot more quickly than the best before dates. If I were the legislator, I would mandate a date of packaging label rather than a best before [or better yet, a date of harvest]. Even after a few months, green tea starts to taste like socks; black tea is only a little more stable.Last edited by Kneenibble; 2012-11-28 at 12:25 PM.

Re: Coid's Crowing Conundrum of a Canticle of Crookedly Random Banter #185
Seeing EleMynx bicker about disclosing a Chrismas present prematurely is highly entertaining, but also highly perplexing. Why anyone ever would want to know (or rather, be told) what he'd get for Christmas is way beyond me. Isn't the whole point of wrapping them and all kind of ruined if you already know what's inside?
I mean, the suspense and all that...
Nah, only if the anti-budgie escapes from my gentle command, but he wouldn't want to do that.
Heh, to me it's just a piece of humorous trivia with a depth to it, i.e. the best sort of trivia.
Well, pretty much, although it can be pretty hard to follow a fast-speaking Dane, as they have a tendency to, well, swallow pretty much all consonants, whereas we're pretty high in the articulation league...
That's actually highly possible. Mum knows fluent Danish ever since she studied at the Copenhagen University, so it'd be hypocritical of me to reject the inverse.
Well, we had a discussion about adopting a literary canon for all school children to read through a few years ago, but it met tons of criticism and was eventually dropped from the table. The thought of picking out a small group of authors and put in the eternal hall of fame just doesn't fit with the Swedish mentality. We're just too aware that not everyone shares the same opinions and that there for every acclaimed talent will be countless more in the shadows.
Also, pretty much everyone realised that the children would hate it, and that it would be a terrible way of introducing them to the classics.
Nah, most customers don't know how to treat a packaging label. It's easier to count down than to count up.

Re: Coid's Crowing Conundrum of a Canticle of Crookedly Random Banter #185
My nephew has been trying to get me to play League of Legends with him. I'm close to giving in. Is the learning curve as steep as I fear?
You mean... you mean talk to somebody from the Playground? I have never done such a thing! We fear change.
This conversation you are carrying on with Elemental makes me happy. What do the anti-budgies look like?

Seriously though -- let me ask this instead. If I were an Arts student in Sweden, is there a Swedish Literature degree I could take? And is there a list of usual suspects that I would study? Is Strindberg in there somewhere? I really like Strindberg if you haven't noticed.

Re: Coid's Crowing Conundrum of a Canticle of Crookedly Random Banter #185
As long as you are the one starting a game, you should be fine. Otherwise you'd be facing level 30's like myself and hopefully your nephew. It's not too tough of a game. It just has some really idiotic people in it.
I found it amusing that in the last game, the Zed said to me 'Is that your first time playing Lux? Lololol'. I replied with 'I've been playing Lux for years. So shut your mouth, amateur'.
That makes me think I'd look either really spiffy, or like an Italian Gangster.

Okay good. I don't have a great deal of time to spend learning a game that I might not even like. Are the people better or worse than on Battlenet?
