Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
YOU! YOU CHANGED YOUR NAME! WHY!
YOU CAN NO LONGER BE DRAONG! YOU SADDEN ME!
*a single tear slides down Curly's cheek*
Don't make me call you Drapey. That's just one hurried typing session away from being an awful thing.
ION!:
Got my Christmas clothing off mum's catalogue today and tried it on; we'd purposely ordered it in the size down from what I normally wear because my usual size is too big for me. And guess what?
Another few weeks and they'll fit perfectly!
This is when I'm not really putting any effort into dieting, just not drinking fizzy pop or eating sweeties. Can't wait to see what happens when I really try.
Though this means I'll need to learn to dart denim properly, which is a bitch.

Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
That is so. A lot of Random Banter happens it seems.
You deny even your thoughts?
Though 'Dragon Prime' is a really cool sounding title.
Hurrah! Good luck!
Doing anything with denim sounds annoying.

Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
(Were you known by another name before the last round of name changes went through?)
Darting is bad enough just on ordinary trousers, and denim is designed to be hardwearing and stiff. I'm not very good at four point hemming denim, I'm not very good at darting fabric in general (mostly due to a lack of practice), so I'm dreading having to dart my jeans. But I'm not willing to have to buy more kit so soon after getting clothes for presents; yeah, it means I'll have lost weight, but sewing is a right pain!

I must be lucky to not feel the same way about sewing. I'm about a size below the smallest men's size in most clothes shops. Sometimes there are things that just aren't available in boys' sizes.
Though I do sympathize as far as sewing with denim. Thus far, I have avoided it altogether.

Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
Firstly, Teddy, that picture is the most substantially amazing thing I have seen all week. All the gold stars are yours to keep, forever.
And don't worry, it's not dangerous at all. Provided Dimonite stops flying in the direction he's flying, but it shouldn't matter because he's fireproof. In any case, I have a license. See?
*holds out pen license*
But what if you're trying to use science to develop toast that never leaves crumbs?
I disagree. Stone is less likely to get damaged accidentally when one neglects to get the cutting board out to divide the most recently acquired bounty from the bakery. Mmm... Bounty...
As for the cellar/fridge debate, why not both? *waits to see if a crowd of stereotypical Mexican villagers appears before continuing* As an Australian, I'm generally opposed to the idea of cellars for fear of flood, but here in Random Banter land we can probably make it work.
Are you sure? Like, really sure?
But that would result in shards of granite flying everywhere and getting in people's eyes, and the only people who would profit from that would the Eye Patch Manufacturers' Guild. Sure, we can have fireworks, will there be an occasion?
Odd... But I see how that works. We usually talk about either having an injection or having blood drawn, so I'm not sure why I find that so strange.
In other news: I saw a doctor this morning and he was a very optimistic doctor. But in any case, I don't have a bacterial infection and should be fine in a few days, a week at the most. After that, we went shopping. I bought a calendar to put on the wall of my newborn niece's wall because I quite literally couldn't think of anything else to get and the calendar stand had a very helpful salesperson. My Mum thinks it's a terrible choice, and she's probably right, but it's a nice calendar. I also got Mynxae some cutlery and plates and things because he needs them.
As for my brothers, I'm just going to put money inside a card, and possible inside an envelope.
I also owe replies, but I'm not feeling too great at the moment, so I think I'll leave it for now. I really only replied to Finn because it was from the last thread and I didn't want it locked on me.Mauve Shirt, Savannah, Gnomish Wanderer, Cuthalion and Smuchmuch get cookies for making me avatars. Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
I. What?
Come again?
Nah, you're just honorarily a grognard.
Well, I cheated a bit by tweaking a storebought spice pack and forgot to spike it with brandy, but, yeah. Was the first time a lot of the other people had ever had non-chilled wine as well as the first time a lot of them had ever had anything other than hot cider as a warm winter drink.
I also suggested to some of them who didn't like the way spiked eggnog mixed to try out boiled custard as an alternative for better mixing.
Just as long as we're not supping on his meaty flanks, I imagine he needs those.
Heh. Fluff for the Fluffenlaird.

I do! Although I'm not very sure about what my words have to do with anything in the first place...
It is? I can't see it, at least not at this size...

Wow, thanks!
Oh, okay! I think all is in order then! :3
Hehehe, my subconscious screams at the notion of telling a person what he'll get for Christmas openly (or at all). It just feels so wrong to me. ;3
And your niece is a newborn, she probably won't care much for any of her presents. A nice almanac to hang on her wall sounds entirely appropriate. :3
Also, I'm glad to hear you're not down with something terrible. I hope you'll get better soon, Ele! :3
Nah, that's not too cheaty. Not to me, at least. :3Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
I never know just what to think with your sister, or what crazy thing she's going to do next.
Well, I suppose I won't bother then if it's not going to make a difference.
Eh... I can't be bothered being considerate if the situation doesn't call for it. As far as I know, you're the only person here who is uncomfortable around needles and their associated instruments, and if you're not going to heed warning labels, then there's really no need to place them. I mean, I'm not going to proof my house against volcanic eruption when the nearest volcanoes are so extinct they've crumbled away into interesting shapes.
I'll just count myself lucky then that I chose not to examine it in greater detail then.
That's definitely not my definition of a small wound then.
Hmm... If you were born in '93, that makes me older than you by a couple of months, if you were born in '92, that makes DraPrime (it's going to take a while to get used to that) a couple months older than you. Because your birthday is in May, whereas both of ours are in March.
Fortunately for me, you're both on the list, while I'm not as it hasn't been updated in the longest time.
You just look older, what with the beard and refined tastes.
If you do ever visit, you're free to help yourself. I have no particular objection.
Forty degrees? Where is it about that you live? For some reason, my mind had assumed the United States, but that's clearly not the case.
Apologies to everyone, but this reminds of something most interesting. The ß used in Germany and other places despite looking like a B is in fact a result of writing a double s quickly. Of course, the first s in this case would have been an ſ, which was used in every situation, save for the end of a word, the second s in a double s or preceding or following an f. Hence, ſs, became ß.
Alas, I can never remember the code for it, so I can never use it for fun.
This was Elemental, from the World of Useless Facts.
I have no real idea... It's foggy up there.
What if you needed to remember something important?
A good polished hardwood floor is also refreshingly cold in Winter, and they only squeak when they get old, so it should be fine for many years.
Not in my mind. I'd rather not feel like I'm being treated like a chipped piece of ceramic or faulty piece of electronics.
It gives me shudders just to think of it.
Well, I'm not doing it. Do I look like a draft horse to you?
Don't spend them all at once!
Umm... That was a pen license. I.e., a license that signifies I can write neatly enough to write in pen...
In this case, I needed to make sure that Mynxae hadn't already made arrangements to get cutlery and plates.
It's not an almanac... An almanac is a book that lists tides, planting dates, weather forecasts, festivals both religious and secular, astronomical data such as the times of the rising and setting of the Sun and Moon, the motions of the planets and any eclipses predicted to occur. I assure you, that even I would not buy such a gift for a newborn. But yes, in any case, it should be pretty and brighten up her room considerably.
Out of curiosity though, does almanac mean something completely differently in Swedish?
I do too. There is stuff I want to do.
Cards Against Humanity? I have never heard of it, but it sounds like an interesting game.Mauve Shirt, Savannah, Gnomish Wanderer, Cuthalion and Smuchmuch get cookies for making me avatars. (::)

Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
I'd start with their second album (Blood Lust) - although their other two albums are good, that's my favorite.
I'd assume they don't, then. It's not like the music department is really a big deal at this school. We do mostly engineering and business.
Doesn't look like it; they're listed as BA's. Might have something to do with the music department being under the college of liberal arts and human sciences, rather than as its own college. (like say, engineering, or business )
*snicker* You sir, are brilliant, although I much prefer the old name.
Heh, one of my mom's cats absolutely loves water. Like, if you're at the sink, she'll run up to you and push you out of the way to get under the water. Or, if you leave the door open when you're taking a shower, she'll try to get in with you.
Bahahahaha
The game was brilliant, though. You people are hilarious.
Be impressed! And it's not completely random! Just... sort of random. Bantery-random.
Go on, jump in! The easiest way to join in is to just comment on other people's stuff and to post your own.
Useless as they may or may not be, they're fun to know. Plus, I like random trivia; sometimes it feels like that's most of what I know...
Fog... man, it's been a while since we had good fog here. I'm tired of all the clear, warm(ish) weather. Where's my winter!?
I'll get one of those things that Neville has in the Harry Potter books... the little ball that lights up when you've forgotten something. Remembrall? Is that it?
Eh, they require much more upkeep than tile, they're more expensive, and they're less durable/more susceptible to burning. The only advantage they have is that they're aesthetically pleasing, which doesn't matter too much to me.
But ceramics and electronics are so easy to fix if you know what you're doing... I'd rather have the ability to be put back together like that.
*Casts enlarge animal and gives you tufts of hair by your feet*
You do now.
So inappropriate... so much fun...

Re: Teddy's Twofold Tempestuous and Tranquil Random Banter #202
Well, that makes sense, and it meshes with the results of my Google Image search.
Indeed it is. However, one can hardly count them as among the more uſeful pieces of information. Still, the part about it ſeeming as though they're moſt of what you know is a feeling I am alſo familiar with.
I wonder if there is ſome ſyſtem by which the human brain remembers them with greater eaſe...
As far as I am aware, we never get fog where I live. Sometimes down in Briſbane, but never here and it always burns off rather quickly. Occaſionally there's miſt in the nearby paddocks late of an evening, but that's hardly the ſame thing.
Remembrall is the word indeed. However, they always ſtruck me as a rather pointleſs device. All I can ſee them being at all practical in terms of uſe is to make ſure you've included all the information in a report or the like. I mean, if you've forgotten ſomething, being reminded probably won't jog your memory until an appropriate external ſtimulus pops up.
Not neceſsarily. I point to the caſe of the Palace of Versailles. Originally, much of the interior had poliſhed marble floors which required frequent waſhing, which in turn threatened to rot the flooring timbers. As a reſult, they ſwitched to parquet flooring inſtead.
Plus, if your house is on fire, it's not going to matter very much as to the flooring material as fires tend to burn upwards. Plus, in addition, prior to the riſe of iron and ſteel as ſtructural materials, almoſt every building incorporated wood in the form of ſtructural timbers. ſtone beams are too heavy, and as ſuch, roofing timbers have been incorporated in buildings ſince time began. Except in places like Egypt and the Middle Eaſt where timber was more ſcarce. Examples include the Parthenon of Athens (I believe they uſed imported cedar for the job, I could be wrong of courſe.) and almoſt every cathedral built in Europe. In fact, there was a big fuſs when they were finiſhing up Cologne Cathedral in the eighteen hundreds as the architect in charge of building the roof decided to uſe iron over the traditional timbers. Of courſe with World War II not even a hundred years later, it proved to be a wiſe deciſion.
So where was I? Ah yes... The material of the roof and walls is of more importance when fire ſafety is concerned. And beſides, when it comes to durability, you people juſt need to remember to not drag furniture acroſs it.
I know that, but I don't want to be ſo eaſily repaired. I know it ſounds odd, but I'm a thoroughly traditional perſon with regards to theſe kinds of things.
But doeſn't it enlarge while retaining the original proportions? In which caſe I'd look like an ordinary horſe, juſt bigger ſomehow?
That is indeed good news. I found myſelf being irrationally concerned about you Americans and your ſemeſters continuing right up to Chriſtmas.
In other news: I'm tired and going mildly inſane. Hence, I have decided that in future, I ſhould always uſe the long ſ in Random Banter. Somehow, I have a feeling this is Amidus's fault, but I don't know how... I am likely to revert to the normal modern uſage, but in the meantime, I have diſcovered that uſing the long ſ counts as correct according to the ſpell-checker.
Goodnight from the world of ſleep deprived Elemental! I'll try to be more ſane with my letter choices later.Last edited by Elemental; 2013-12-17 at 10:38 AM.

Well, I know for sure that Halu isn't very fond of needles or drawing blood either, and I'm pretty sure there were two more who found Finns syringe staff a bit uncomfortable, but I don't remember who...
It was inteded to be put in relation to wounds in need of suturing, but I don't think I stressed that very well...
Ahh, by the way you phrased it, I thought you were a ninty-twoer as well. With this sentence in mind, I'm pretty sure you can guess my age relative to yours... ;3
I was thinking about throwing my sewing machine driver's license into the joke, but couldn't come up with any witty way of doing it...
Right... Sorry, I didn't sleep very much last night and mixed the words up in my head. But yes, the etymological equivalent of almanac in Swedish is a calendar in book format with extra lines for filling in appointments and such. Not the same as a calendar, but at least a bit closer to one...
Lucky you. My semester doesn't end until 8th January 19:00. Given, I have no scheduled activities for almost 20 continuous days over Christmas, and another week off afterwards, but still, I don't like having exams after new year...
I bet they didn't seal the cracks between the marble tiles very well...?
Meanwhile, to me it sounds like they're all ending early...
Heh, I keep reading your 'ſ's with a lisp. Also, I think switching back may be a good idea, going on for too long may not be entirely compatible with the rules against excessive formatting...Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

How old is the poor fluff? I feel like this parting of ways may be tragic for him, and that kidnap would be a mercy. For in my captivity, he would be assured of companionship, and that good use would be made of every square inch of that fluff.
