Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
why not do like sildyu did with the blue guy, bind their souls to something.
THEN throw it in the incarnum.
It'd be kind of like an epic pokemon capture.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
As I saw it the "Epic Battle" in the previous plan consisted of "Have 3Shades get chased, then Leeroy poof them to Lying's Epic PortalTM". That's not really Epic, nor a battle in the conventional sense.
Go with this. Salmon and Shades fight, stab it in the eyes or something to blind it, it charges forwards, smashes though the door, and is gone for good. Then Dekopin fixes the door, and we all go home for tea, crumpets, and Future Imperfect.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
I can totally imagine Almighty wearing Ash's hat.
And after all, defeating doesn't mean killing them. So just incapacitate them and figure out a way to kill them later.
*When finished, please dispose of your shades in the proper waste receptacle. Thank you*

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
Probably. He is a demon, you know. Probably Tanarri. They're literal personifications of sin.
As to the argument: Well, looks like I'm on my own again, so: compromise. Dammit. Alright, fine, a god can exist in the plane of Incarnum, despite the fact that technically, everything living, nonliving, undying, deathlessing, or immortalizing has something resembling a soul, and most likely made of Incarnum.
However, I draw the line at pizza.Last edited by The Gremlin; 2009-04-18 at 11:27 AM.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
Alright. I know I'm not usually the voice of reason or anything, but all this arguing has got to stop.
The way I see it, both sides have valid points. Both sides are fine and dandy in my opinion but cancel each other out. In one corner: the view that we should use a portal to instantly kill the Shades and nothing can ever survive in this portal. In the other corner, we have the view that the final battle should be longer then that and that a insta-kill portal is just lain cheating. That is what I see.
I don't particularly care either way.
So here's two solutions as I see them:
1:the portal thingy never has existed. It is ret-conned and those comics are made non-canon. The whole "nothing can survive in this place" is forgotten and it all never happened.
OR.....
2:we let the battle end instantly but cooly in a way that wraps everything up.
Let's face it guys, there is no way to make a battle "Long and Epic enough". There has to be a final, sudden blow, particularly in these types of comics. Just a huge fight scene would be equally as anti-climatic as a portal-finish.
Either way, each option requires one side to give up for the better story. Obviously who gives up will be proven more mature.AVATAR BATTLE ROYALE!

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
Thanks Q, but the matter has already been resolved, as it was only a misunderstanding. The Shades will be blinded at the end of the battle and charge into the portal, becoming permanently destroyed.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
Stop the arguing about the "Plane of Incarnum doesn't kill me über-leetz god character", please. We can simply justify it by saying Dekopin made a very clever illusion.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
Well, if she's an "über-leetz god character", maybe I should just have her snap her fingers and have the Shades wink out of existence. Maybe I should have her grant god-powers back to Fayte again. Maybe I should have her wipe all traces of the Sovice from Avbaroy, and take out that fleet in orbit for good measure.
Or maybe I'll just have my character, who isn't part of any of your nonsense about "magic physics" do what I want and try and add a little of both humour and narrative to the plot.
And you want a justification? Fine. Dekopin hasn't created an illusion. She's maintaining a stable pocket of Incarnum within the plane, purely for the purpose of screwing with anyone who tries to open a portal there. Because that's what she does.
The pocket is partially maintained by the magic given off by the boundary layer between the Soft Incarnum within the pocket and the Heavy Incarnum outside, and the door is maintained by the same method.
Happy now? Does this fit with your "magic physics"?Last edited by Keris; 2009-04-18 at 12:00 PM.

If she's having a party, I should totally be there, because I am not only the life of the party, I am a portal traveler! A girl shouldn't eat pizza alone, am I right?

Why doesn't Nameless just open up another portal? It is one of his specialities after all.

Awww, you should include me! I want to be in plot, and as previously stated...many times, Falgorn's specialty is also portals. I'm bad at the comic-making, because Inscape hates me, with its crashing, and deleting, and what not.
