Don't forget blackwing totally abandoning V and the soldiers when they were trying to hold the breach in Azure City's wall, so that's three strikes against blackwing, whom I suspect is male, simply because I suspect V is female. But hey, what do I know?

I suppose it's foolish of me to point out that V can't be out of fly spells. That would be inconvenient to the plot...

You seem to know a lot for someone who said they don't know anything, and have to rely on word of mouth from unknown and uncited "others."

I don't even play D&D, and I'm relying on the rule explanations of those who know alot.

Clearly this means V is lying, and is a demon or other evil creature. Meaning O-chul must destroy V in 659

Doesn't Xykon get a familiar too? And he probably has more sorcerer levels than V has wizard levels, so that does not bode well for Blackwing.

Of course, it remains unclear how V can possibly be out of fly spells... we have not seen him cast Fly since he got his awesome powers, which leaves 2 options available:
1) V was using his pre-existing flight spell from the island, or
2) V has since cast a new one off screen.
In the first scenario, V should still have fly because his slots were replenished. It makes no sense he'd have used his own fly spell if he had to use it again, because his fly spell is so inferior to the spliced characters fly spells (they could do overland flight for instance), and would be very prone to the ABD or Xykon dispelling it. So even if V had only a single fly spell prepped, V should still have it. But hey, it'd be less dramatic.

Hey, can V Charm Blackwing to ensure its cooperation?

I don't know but I can't remember V ever using a charm spell before. S/he used suggestion against the dragon with his/her ring and that would work equally well.

What's happening with you JeptCloak? Ever since Super V got knock off her cloud, (which needed to happen, otherwise the moral of this story would have been :making deals with fiends is a effective way to solve your problems, evil should rule the world.) you have been bitter.

V is a wizard. One who had prepared his spells on the same morning with the assumption that she would remain on her island all day doing ressearch. She had some combat spell ready, an Overland flight which she had allready cast for the day and why would you need to prepare Fly with Overland Flight in your spellbook while you could use those perfectly good level 3 slots for fireballs and lighting bolts?

So I say it is completly believable V has no fly spells. Logic and Rules aside, this is a story, not a D&D gaming session with players often having weeks ahead of them to prepare and think of all the plausible difficulties a fight with Xykon could include.

Destroying the phylactery might or might not work. However, I do predict that both V and O-chul will both be saved at the last second by the rest of the Order of the Stick. X will be too busy chasing after his phylactery imo.
