Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
It's just a guess, but is that fellow with the chocolate-box hairdo a young Sir Thorn, James' predecessor?
A father taken by time, a brother dead by my own hand.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I was wrong earlier. That was indeed Eglamore.
Not surprising to see that Miss Jones is apparently immortal.A father taken by time, a brother dead by my own hand.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I'm kinda liking how she keeps her hair with the times, at least.
(Meanwhile, getting it in with someone you have known to be an adult from your childhood... must've be weird for Eaglemore.)

Honestly, Jones' hairdo makes it look like she actually is younger in this most recent one...

That must be weird, forming a relationship with a boy who you watched grow up …
But I guess the rules must be different for immortal beings.A father taken by time, a brother dead by my own hand.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
This is REALLY messing with my mind. What's next, she's the nurse assisting at Jimmy-Jims' birth? She was nearby when he was conceived?
It's no wonder these two are so close...
Probably. Unless she's a relatively new creation I would imagine she's done that before, with other men: Watched them from cradle to grave. And perhaps loved them...

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I think what we're being shown here is that the relationship between Jones and Eglamore is, in fact, not a romantic one, and that whatever Annie(and us too, through hey eyes) saw is something more akin to a mother/son relationship.
Unless I'm mistaken, we've never been shown or told anything that there's actually something going on between them. The scene with Eglamore lying with his head on Jones lap seems to imply they're lovers at first glance. But once you factor in that she's probably many times his age and has been his mother figure for a very long time (possibly for as long as he can remember), you might think it's just a tired, lonely man seeking rest in his mother's lap.
But I could be entirely wrong. Tom's keeping us guessing at the truth, and we'll find out somewhere at the end of this chapter I suppose. I'm loving it uso far, though.Last edited by Mephit; 2012-10-08 at 12:00 PM.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Calling it now: Wednesday's comic will take place "countless aeons ago" and depict Jones raising young Coyote. Friday's comic will take place "before the beginning of time (and after its end)" and will depict an old, matronly Jones cradling a baby Jones. Monday's comic will open with Annie saying "Oh, that makes pefect sense. Thanks!" and skipping off; the rest of the chapter will be light-hearted filler about Kat's attempts to learn how to cook.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
This could be either World War, though that definitely looks turn of the century to me.
Wild guessing time: Miss Jones is actually Pygmalion's statue Galatea, who came to life through the wishes of her creator. Her immense strength and hardiness is due to the fact that she's actually a living statue.Last edited by Giggling Ghast; 2012-10-10 at 12:12 PM.

Or, despite the references to things that also exist in our world, it isn't actually either war, but something different again.

'ello, 'ello, 'ello … What's all this, then?
Right, that fine bird's been nicked by the bobbies, she has! Wot a thing to 'appen!
I'm beginning to fear that Jones is actually a character from a Jane Austen novel or something.Last edited by Giggling Ghast; 2012-10-12 at 10:30 AM.
