Default The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0131 - #0140)

Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 131 through 140.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here.

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here.

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on September 8th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, 122 - Adventurers Are Coming! Adventurers Are Coming! did in fact show up to claim the prize. Who will end up winning this week? Only you can decide that.

Let's build a campfire and tell stories about who will win.....

    .THE STICK AWARDS II: 0131 - 0140

NOTE::: Many thanks to Nimrod's Son for the Brother Hiram smilie!

Man, so many good ones here. This is a tough choice.

I'm going to have to go with 132: Kindred Spirits just because it's pretty much flawless, the extended absurdism is terrific and the punchline is amazing. Plus, it's always interesting to see Belkar playing the straight man for a change. But I'll be happy no matter which comic wins.

This is the best batch so far, it's extremely difficult to pick one

132 and 138 are awesome, and 140 should get it just for the title and last panel Seriously, any of these would get my vote in, say, most of the previous six-seven rounds.

But #136 truly shines and gets my vote.

I'll go with 135 I guess, because V dealing with idiots is just a little bit more funny than the others dealing with idiots.

I vote 131 That ransom-note is one of the first signs that Haley isn't just goofing around

36 gets honorable mention, but I have to go with 131. Plot and characterization will always trump the jokes for me.

#136 - Because it's not a winner until somebody quotes Monty Python.

137, because I like both Banjo and Odin.

    131. Haley needed the character development. I liked Durkon's teasing reaction, too.

140 is very nice... a lol every time with "unleash the fury!"
i love also 134 "I hate side quest"

but 131 gets my vote. A long story planning, it is.

131 - Honestly? Because I didn't want 136 to win, since I didn't find it very funny. 131 seems to be the main contestant, and it's a reasonable comic that gives the viewers some insight to Haley's character.

    A lot of good ones...
    Cabaret reference in 131,
    A hilarious exchange in 132,
    A soon-to-be-out-of-buisness store...

I wasn't wild about 136, because it didn't really add anything to the original skit.

Ultimately, I'm going to go with 139, partly due to the joke it sets up with Belkar, and partly because it is one of the first signs of Elan thinking intelligently.

Man...I like 132, 135, 137, 138 and 140 a lot, but don't love any of them enough to definitely choose. Ultimately, though, I reckon I have to unleash the fury of 140...Gortok the Destroyer and V going shopping being close seconds.
    Why I love V...

135, because 131 doesn' really seem to have much plot effect and it's funnier than 132 or 136 (which is also great).
