Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
So... remember how there was a talk about the pony fandom exploding in different sites? Turns out MLP threads have been banned from the SA forums.
About the theorized timeline: That... is something I'd have to check more thoroughly on a day that I'm more bored

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
I don't have any first-hand knowledge, since I don't participate in the SA forums, but the explanation that is given by the mods is:

"Twilight! You have to take a Leap of Faith!"
I've checked, and I cannot find any images of Twilight Sparkle dressed as Altair or Ezio Auditore. The internet has failed me.

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
Okay, opinions. Here's what I think happened between the very first MLP (G1) and FiM:
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna (not princesses yet) drove away most of the evil in Equestria, starting with Dream Valley, ending in a climactic battle that destroyed the weather itself, including the sun and the moon. Celestia and Luna recreated the sun and moon and put the ponies in charge of maintaining the weather and such. Things progressed, and we ended up with modern-day Equestria.
Of course, there are still some threats around, but the princesses are managing to keep them at bay.

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
...okay, I'll let youtube comments sum up my first reactions.
OH GOD
HELP
OW
MY MASCULINITY
GODDAMN IT SHOW
STOP IT
STOP BEING SO GOOD
(Do not actually read youtube comments pertaining to this show, unless...
No, wait. Just don't do it under any circumstances.)
It's just a little girls' cartoon, which should logically imply "unwatchable by anyone with a fully-formed brain".
But the animation, voice acting, the characters and their interactions somehow make it so unbelievably charming that it slips right by my cynicism and leaves me with a stupid grin, humming something that an all-pink cartoon pony sang.
It manages to be more adorable than German shepherd puppies.
I DIDN'T KNOW SUCH A THING WAS POSSIBLE.
This has to be the most insidious mindworm ever.
I felt friendship in my brain,
And ponies, to and fro,
Kept prancing, prancing, till it seemed
That sense was breaking through.Citius, Altius, Fortuis

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
So, there's something I think we're forgetting to talk about.
The very force that let Nightmare Moon out of the moon. "The stars shall aid in her escape." And lo, four stars bump into the moon letting her out.
What are these stars? Why did they let her out? What forces are at work here? Was it Luna's doing? Was it Celestia's doing because she wanted her sister to take a load off by taking care of the moon again? Or is there some ... other ... force at work here?

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
There was a theory, actually: there was one pony in a crowd (sadly, I forgot what episode he appeared in) that had a cutie mark resembling that of Twilight, only that his had 4 stars that were in the exact same position as the four stars that were moving towards the moon in the first episode. Obviously, people began suspecting he may be involved in a future episode.
...I really should have saved that screencap that had him.Nevermind, Google to the rescue:Spoiler
I remember he appeared in another scene, though.

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
Hm... Not paranoid enough. I've got it! Twilight Sparkle couldn't stand the thought of being wrong about something, so she personally researched and performed an unholy magic ritual to summon Nightmare Moon.
Speaking of Luna, what ever happened to her? All evidence indicates ponies are still just as diurnal as ever, but we've never heard a peep out of the ruler of night. Did she get executed for her crimes off-screen?
Seems to overlook the rather obvious continuity bug of Ponyville being razed to the ground at the end of "Swarm of the Century."

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
Well, word of god has it that she will appear again... but it's been 13 episodes since her last appearance. No wonder Luna went mad, even her creator ignores her.
Personally, my bet is on trapped in the dungeons of Canterlot, planning the future resistance against the Iron-hoofed rule of Celestia.

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
I'd more expect President-For-Life Celestia to have her sister assassinated nice and quietly. She wouldn't want to look like some kind of tyrant towards all those working class ponies.
I mean, it might slow down construction of her next mountaintop palace, or jewel-encrusted palanquin-chariot. She could just fly herself, or teleport, maybe, sure, but it's just not the same unless you're forcing a bunch of sapient beings to cart your huge golden throne around.
As you can plainly see, everyone in this picture looks soooo happy.5e D&D Mythos Classes

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
Nonsense. I'm guessing she just keeps Luna hidden away in her palace, and is now attempting to apply the lessons she's learning from Twilight to rekindle her friendship:
SpoilerAh, good morning, sister! Guess what came in this morning?
...Another letter from--
Another letter from Twilight! And this one is all about generosity!
Generosity? Really?
Yes, really! Go on, why don't you try giving me something, Luna?
Oh. Uh, okay. Uh... If you look in that corner, there's... no, not the rock, under the rock...
Gah! That's one of the ugliest cockroaches I've ever seen!
Yeah, that's the juiciest kind there is! I was saving it for myself, but I guess you can have it...
Oh. Well, I now know to accept gifts gracefully and not criticize something given in love, so thank you, sister.
Cool. Hey, could you loosen this rack a few notches? It's kind of uncomfortable.
Ha! Oh, dear sister, I've also learned that you shouldn't try to please everyone! Good day!
...I want my cockroach back.

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
You know, Equestria is still one heck of a dangerous land. Dangerous monsters like the hydra or the star-bears are huge and dangerous enough to threaten the entire country, and you gotta wonder what's protecting the ponies from those horrors.
Just the ursa minor for example is big enough to destroy an entire village on its own... And the ursa major is the size of at least the Tarrasque, if not bigger. So far, it seems that they don't venture past the Everfree Forest. Everything that's evil and/or dangerous lurks there. It's not just the trees growing without pony supervision, animals caring for themselves and the clouds moving on their own, there's also the fact that parasprites should live there. And these things have a voracious appetite. Yet, the forest still exists... So perhaps those huge monsters eat parasprites en masse...
What other kinds of mythical monsters could lurk in the Everfree Forest?

Re: My Little Pony: Because Friendship Is Magic
You know, I was thinking of something about this whole buisness...
We see in the second episode that the power of friendship actually IS a type of magic, and is very powerful and effective at neutralizing high-power targets.
She then asks her most serious mage to study this, with frequent reports. I ask you... Simple way of loosening up a stick-in-the-mud, or magical weapon's research program, capable of combatting any other children's TV known to man?
Definately not an original thought, but I love it.Last edited by Deme; 2011-02-16 at 09:15 PM.
