Lord Loss was creeping through the night. So far he had been spying for two days now on the movements of Uncle Festy and Fleeing Coward (the roles not the people!) Seeing nothing but undead running didn't give him much to report though. It was time to head back. He crept through the trees and neared the secret camp.

He headed straight to the office tents to give his report. Lirael sat there with Prince Sameth and other officers. As he walked in, he caught the briefest of conversation. Dead hands have infiltrated our ranks. Sentries are the most likely candidates but it could be anyone. Lord Loss coughed to indicate his presence and heads turned. Nothing new to report on Uncle Festy. It seems he is still staying there. It looks like he is digging something up as earlier. What we have no idea.

They dismissed him then and he left to go get some grub. As he stood in line, several party members approached him. Lord Loss. You are hereby decommissioned from your duty.

For what crime? he asked challenging them. For sympathizing with the enemy. You are hereby stripped of your rank and henceforth shall be known as "Loss." You have one hour to grab your things and leave, otherwise we will have to arrest you.

"Loss" sighed and gathered his few belongings, some trail food and went out into the forest to survive on his own.

Uncle Festy dragged a captive behind him who was struggling furiously bound by his hands and feet. Our first sacrifice! he announced happily. Found him trying to sneak into the camp. So uhhh when do we sacrifice him? Now of course. Fleeing Coward replied.

Uncle Festy stared at him and Fleeing Coward stared back after a moment. So are you going to do it? Fleeing Coward asked. Oh! Me? But I never sacrificed anyone before. How do you do it? You've been an excellent servant for years now and you have yet to sacrifice someone? Uncle Festy would have blushed if possible. Yes. was all he could get out.

Watch how I do it. Fleeing Coward said. He strode up to the man still struggling. I assure you, you won't feel a thing. With that, he grabbed the mans finger and chopped it off. There was a scream of pain that was muffled by his gag. Uhhh Master, shouldn't a sacrifice die, not just get his finger cut off?

Fleeing Coward glared at him. I know how to do a sacrifice! Back in my day, this is how you did it! You took their pinky finger! But when were you alive Master? Why hundreds of centuries ago of course! They both stared at each other as that fact sunk in. Shall we just toss him into the pit Master? Good enough for me. But have a Death Hand do it. It's amusing to watch them fall apart as they fall. So a Death Hand came and picked up the sacrifice and walked into the pit. Uncle Festy and Fleeing Coward had a good laugh watching.

Day 2 Ends!

Orzel stalked into Lirael's secret camp. No one paid him any attention. I mean, who would look twice at a little white kitten? No one, that's who. At least no one who could recognize him. He continued to stroll through camp when a wift of cooking fish caught his nose. The delicious smell made him turn course and head towards the fish.

He smacked his lips together hungrily. He was always so hungry these days. He walked into a tent only to have a net drop on him. He sat calmly on his haunch so as to not tangle himself farther. Lirael stepped out of the shadows. Hello Orzel. she said, quite calmly. Hello Abhorsen. he replied. I would bow, but as you can see, I'm caught in this net. So if you would be so kind as to take it off, I would appreciate it. Lirael only stared at him. Caught indeed. Caught red-handed I should say. Did you think you could try to make a deal with Uncle Festy and not think I would know? I may be young, but I am the Abhorsen.

I made no such deal. Orzel said, quite indignant. We have a witness who says, otherwise. I believe Thufir was his name. He sent a pigeon last night but we have yet to hear from him. Either way, I trust him more than I trust you. For that reason alone, I'm sending you back home to sleep until this is all over.


Orzel became angry. You can't! You need my help to seal Orannis. Without it, he'll rule us all! He meant to continue, but Lirael cut him off sharply, and spoke louder than him. Orzel! We managed to stop him without your help last time, we will do it again! I, Lirael the Abhorsen, command you to return home and go to sleep until we have finished what we started. This is a direct command, do not disobey! Orzel stared at her in disbelief, as his collar started to shine.

The next moment he dissapeared, staring at an all to familiar house. He sighed walked in, and curled up in front of the fireplace and went to sleep.
