Good point about the balance; I probably wouldn't have thought of that.

I disagree though; I suspect this combination of creatures would have a permenantly bad disposition in addition to being butt-ugly, so I vote -2 Cha and +2 Wis.

Maybe a racial bonus to intimdate checks too though, I don't know how much LA that kind of thing adds.

Also, I vote for the Natural bite attack, cause y'know, snakes, and I'd still love to see a snake-beard :P

Fair enough, but be aware that psi-like abilities are always Cha-based.

In that case I'll swap my choices to -2 Con, +2 Wisdom; cause I like Eldest's reasoning about potential health problems and this way it get's neither a racial penalty nor a bonus to the psi-like abilities.

Hm? I don't use any of that stuff. I just reason it out by comparing it to other common LA 0 races and then rely on PEACH to hit just the right balance point. It's all me.

I am going to have to disagree with your comment under religion. You can have cosmic horrors and nightmare fuel monsters like the Meduthid without Cthulhu (though you probably should have your own cosmic horror god, that is inspired by Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythos). Really if someone wants a universe with only their own homebrewed gods and still have Lovecraftian inspired monsters like the Meduthid, who are you to say they shouldn't? Perhaps they should have something fill that void, but it doesn't have to be the original Cthulhu.

Heck, both Medusas and Mindflayer's exist in settings without Cthulhu so why shouldn't Meduthids?

In my defense this is the internet where you can easily come across people who say and seriously believe in the most ridiculous of things (and yours wasn't nearly as absurd as some of the things I am thinking of right now). This is why emoticons were invented.
