I can think of a couple of things... it would do quite well with a Master of Masks dip, for example...

And hey... it's still more powerful than a Soulknife...

I thought it might be interesting to blast an entire room with some kind of AoE - a wand of fireball, or some such - and then follow it up with Darkness. Implacable Hunt turns on, you can pinpoint every single one of them, and they're bumbling around in the dark. Except by the time that happens, you're level 13 and people are slinging around darkvision and true seeing like nobody's business. And Darkness was nerfed. Bah.

Hey Amp, would you be able to link the builds to the OP? Also, do we know who is competing here? Sorry to ask questions, I was hoping to create a build, but RL issues got in the way and I wasn't able to come up with any ideas.

On a completely unrelated note, I have an idea for the next SI, Thrall of Graz'zt from BoVD. Slightly more than half-casting with some other abilities that might work with others offered from different classes appears to be the ideal SIs for this competition.

disciple of grazz't would be a lot of fun too, however the errata explaining how it actually works would need to be made available in the OP. like most of the disciples of x classes in bovd, it's missing some key rules on how often its powers can be used.

You could take a Spelltouched feat, if you're willing to take an Elegance penalty. You could *possibly* take a PrC from UA, but I'd advise against it. Bloodlines, Gestalt, Domain Wizards, alternate Skill systems, etc. should be considered not valid.

As i am pretty new to IC, just for clarification for future IC's (and maybe a word of thought from one or two of the people who have been known to judge, if they would penalise it or how they would go around it) Would the Divine Bard fit into this group?

All of the Alternative Base Class options in Unearthed Arcana (with the possible exception of Domain Wizard) are OK, so Divine Bard is fine. They generally won't draw an Elegance hit, but some individual judges may vary.

Thurbane has it right. Any option from UA has the very real possibility of an Elegance hit, even if it's not expressly verboten like Flaws or similar.

I just ran across the primal spells (Primal Speed, Primal Instinct, Primal Hunter, Primal Senses) from Dragon Magic.

I haven't really taken a look at rangers spell list outside of the PHB. They really crammed in a whole bunch of cool spells for ranger.

Becoming familiar with the new and improved ranger spell list has made me realize this SI is not weak at all. Getting access to the ranger spell list at a faster than normal rate on a full bab class is actually pretty handy.

Anyway, I am glad you picked this one for the SI. I might not have ever gained an appreciation for this class or the ranger spell list if i had not been forced to research it.

I actually think the code of conduct meant "sneak attack" as in a hidden surprise attack and not in the game term rogue sneak attack way. There is precedent for game terms and descriptive phrases being mixed up.

Either way, some of the contestants found neat and tricky ways to turn sneak attack into a benefit anyway.

On a side note, I was surprised there weren't any Arcane order ranger builds submitted. Or any Inquisition domain tack on's for +20 dispel checks with the SLA dispel magic. I didn't go for them because I figured someone else would.

I would not be surprised if others had a similar rationale. Hooray for irony, huh?

You pick your ranger spells at teh start of the day. You did not need to list out spells for your build. These spells are part of all the builds.

That would be interesting, but traditionally 5 level PrCs don't get used. If they do, I'd love to see Elemental Warrior (PlH).

So far there is only one confirmed judge (i think). But whoever is judging is likely going to need all the time they can get. There is a lot of material to comb through.

I expect all the judging scores will flow in at or near the deadline.

(but yeh I am excited to see the scores too.)

Huh, I wonder if we have enough judges. Can we get a headcount of who's judging? Usually three is the minimum, but we've made do with two before.

I believe DarthPeleus, Jeriah and motoko's ghost were confirmed, OMG PONIES was a maybe, and BobVosh was a maybe, if we needed a 4th judge.

As far as I'm aware of, we haven't done anything from Book of Exalted Deeds, although I may be wrong there. I don't think we've done Complete Scoundrel yet either, but then again, I don't have a perfect memory for which SIs came from which book.
