Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
I demand that one of the mystery rewards be a video of Rich impersonating Dr. Evil and laughing evilly.

Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
Ok, let's say everything beyond $850k is "surplus to needs" and goes into the GiantITP/OotS general fund.
That means we're currently at around $160,000 of OotS Goodies coming down the track.
New computer? check. New version of Illustrator? check.
New Cintaq? CAN I GET A HELL YEAH?
So happy for Rich! Hope this doesn't lead to a breakdown or something!

HELL YEAH!
Guys, as exciting as this is, I should probably go to sleep. Unless I want to wake up once again on my desk, this time most likely with a spiral binding-shaped impression on my face. Huh, on second thought…
See you in a few hours and I'm really curious about the Mystery Prize(s). Well, breakfast time is update time for me; I can't think of a better way to start the new week

Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
Dang it. WHY?
Don't forget the cut Amazon takes. And then the sales taxes for orders from PA and TX. And the cost of making all of the rewards. and the shipping costs. And the money going to reprinting in the first place!
And after all that, whatever is left goes to making OoTS better. Better technology, that kind of thing.Spoiler: This signature is a historical relic from a long-ago time of regular forum activity.Aww man! Even all the witty self referencing sigs are gone now!

Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
Speaking as a non-American, I have no problem using my debit card.
It's not a limitation from Rich, it's a limitation from the Internet. For some weird reason, you can't exchange cold hard cash on the web. You can try putting in some bills in your disc drive, it won't get sent through the wires.Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!

Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
Disregarding the fact that it's hardly within Rich's mandate to change Kickstarter's practices, I'm curious behind the reasoning that being non-American somehow excluded you from having a credit card? Also, it's not actually so that you can only pay with credit cards; normal debit cards (is that the word in English?) where it just gets taken straight from your bank account works as well, or at least it does for me (living in Sweden).
The whole point of the drive it to reprint the books so they'll be in more stores, yes. However, they can still be ordered online from the web store.Last edited by Weimann; 2012-02-19 at 07:14 PM.

Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
I think it has something to do with our Public School's fishery program or w/e it was called; I just remember every school kept an aquarium full of salmon eggs and then released them into the wild when they grew old enough.
Made me wonder if when they decided to go "back to the spawning pools", we were going to have a bunch of fish flopping across the halls.

Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
Actually, I might, for my personal use only of course. I spend a lot of time on the bus, and it would be nice to have an OOTS pdf on my iphone to help make it more tolerable.
I wouldn't upload it anywhere though. In fact i doubt anyone will. not because it's really that difficult (you only really need to scan the bonus pages) but because most readers of oots have a strong enough loyalty to rich that they wouldn't want to take money from him.The Specialist PrC(WIP) An attempt to make really high skills more useful. Re: The OOTS Reprint Drive at Kickstarter: Pledge now to get exclusive rewards!
Just a couple of points:
A) All that sales tax that was just pledged from PA and TX? Rich doesn't get to keep that.
B) Rich might (and actually almost certainly will) be forced to keep upping the print runs of the books.
So it's not as if everything past $XXX,XXX is pure extra. A decent chunk of it? Sure. But not all of it.Last edited by Porthos; 2012-02-19 at 07:18 PM.
