How did you choose your username?
Very simple. How did you choose your username? Why?
People may comment on others.
Me? I chose 'Dark Elf Bard' because that's one of my D&D and FFRP characters and they are SO FUN TO PLAY.SpoilerThis is the thief who likes to hoard,
That loves the bard with the puppet Lord
That admires the fighter with the green-hilted sword,
That employs the Wizard, whose bird is ignored,
That has the gender unexplored
That intrigues the Halfling, usually bored,
That slew a mountain of the goblin horde,
That follows the cleric,
That serves the lich,
That seeks the gate,
That guards the snarl,
That lives in the prison the gods built.
guess what I was gone but now I'm back

Re: How did you choose your username?
Do people think this out? I just started using this one day and then used it for ever other account I made.

One day, way back in hotmail days, every name I could think of was taken. I banged the keyboard in frustration, and lo, Tyndmyr was born.

Re: How did you choose your username?
This username, which I use for almost everything, was a typo on my part. I cant remember when, but I wanted my username to be Zinthos, as in Azarath Metrion Zinthos, and I ended up using this, I've used it ever since.

Re: How did you choose your username?
I started using this name back when I was 15 and Final Fantasy VII was my favorite game ever. It refers to the 13th and final knight in the Knights of the Round summon magic (my avatar is a screenshot of him). I started using it everywhere and these days I use it just because it's pretty much my name on the internet. If you see a Knight13 on another forum or site, it's probably me.

Re: How did you choose your username?
Well, first I was Gwyn ap Nud, after the Welsh mythological figure, after I read it in a book.
Then I decided I wanted to personalize it, when coming up with a character for a god-game, and decided on Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll, which translates roughly to "Light of the Dark", which I think was pretty and poetic. So yeah, that's why I'm Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll.

Re: How did you choose your username?
When I was six or so, I invented my own secret language, culture, religion, and island. Othesemo is the 'translation' of my real name, that I came up with off of the top of my head. I use it mostly because nobody else does, so I don't have to bother with having to choose a new username.

Re: How did you choose your username?
Mine's from a captcha. I thought it was pretty cool, so I wrote it down just in case, and here I am, the Grimmace. I was dismayed, however, when I found out that it was the name of a big purple McDonalds mascot. I've been on the fence on weather or not to change it (and what to change it to) ever since.

Re: How did you choose your username?
A long time ago, on an interwebz just like this, I was part of an online Star Wars club. My original name there was Bald Rooster(this was also my laser tag handle for awhile). Which came from watching the Virtual World Championships on Sci-Fi channel way back when, where some guy was using Rooster, and so I grabbed it and made it my own.
Moving on, in said Star Wars club, some guy wrote a story including my character, but never used the name, just my title. Which made me realize that it might be a good time to come up with a new name. Keeping a quasi-bird theme, I chose to name myself after a gryphon, just changing up the letters some to make it more "name-like" in my opinion.CEO of Evil Incorporated: "Subjugating humanity for a better tomorrow."

Re: How did you choose your username?
On a different forum (HBgames, if anyone is interested) I went by Darth J. J being the initial of my first name. I used a cookie as my avatar there (No idea why, I just did) and one of the forum goers said I should change my name to Cookie. I changed it to Cookiedas J for a week or so, but decided to change it Sgt. Cookie, so here I am.

Re: How did you choose your username?
My usual username is based on an old old Duel Masters card. I also go by the name of Thanatos on some sites, a reference to the greek personification of death, I started using that name some time after is Started playing Persona 3, where Thanatos appears as the ultimate Persona of the Death arcana.

Random letters put together to make something that sounded cool. (I pronounce it Cass-tarr-rass). Found out later that it was actually a spanish town. However, I'm the bottom two results on google, despite this.

Re: How did you choose your username?
It's a pun. Fredaintdead. I left some years ago (2009) as Fredthefighter, expecting not to come back, and when I came back, it turned out that Fred wasn't dead. So yeah, Fred aint (isn't) dead.
The Fred part is because Fred is a name I quite like. The Fighter part was because I liked to play the Martial in D&D, and Fighter (despite its obvious weaknesses) was my favourite class.

Re: How did you choose your username?
From a character in a sci-fi book I was writing but never finished. The name itself was created from a combination of factors: I like the name Max, a place nearby where I lived that has the word Axios in it's name, and the fact that I like iPhones.

Re: How did you choose your username?
So I used to have a lame username for my email (still use it though), but then i started gaming a bit more and I got fed up with the whole L3tT3rzXxX things i saw around me. I also didn't want a nickname to insult people so instead i thought of a username which would make sense as an actual name, and yet be detached from my IRL name (as some of you on the GitP facebook chat). So now i have a main and alt nick, being Socratov (i wanted something russian sounding becuase fo the rule of cool, and russia has great permafrost places) and Mbutu (the whole tribal is cool movment that was riding high, by emulating the african sounds language i came up with Mbutu). And now they have become part of my internet life i guess...

I like the character in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Simple as that.

Re: How did you choose your username?
I didn't choose mine actually, it was given to me. Sometime in 2000 I think, when I played the textbased online game Wolfenburg during the Beta phase. My character was named Horus, and my buddy in the game called me Fallen One(after the Warhammer 40K primarch Horus who was consumed by evil). I liked it so I adopted the name, still using it twelfe years after.

Re: How did you choose your username?
Crimmy was first used when Sneak the avatarist called me by a friendly name, apocope from my original username, The Crimson Mage.
After a while, I kind of found I liked it better, partly because it's shorter than TCM, and partly because I figured I wanted something friendlier.
And The Crimson Mage was the name I chose after my two favorite characters from 8-bit Theater merged into one.Last edited by Crimmy : Tomorrow at 26:72 DM.

Re: How did you choose your username?
In a recent science class we had played a game in which I had gone out of the room while everyone decided on an action I had to perform. I then had to come back in the room and guess what the action was. They clapped every time I did something right and were silent when I didn't. Long story short I misinterpreted what they were indicating (which was to climb on the tables and speak in a high voice) and thought that they wanted me to climb on the tables and do the riverdance. It crossed my mind when I signed up so that's what I named myself.
Many thanks to Ceika for my Avatar

Re: How did you choose your username?
I am a hipster-nerd from birth, and i loved science fiction and fantasy from early age.
I remember trying to think of a username, and i wanted somthing cool, which is a super-villian dark lord.
so it came up as Superdark.
then because it wasnt long enough for the game, they suggested adding 33.
So here i am, Superdark33.Despite everything, its still me.
