I vaguely remember gryos from my trip to Greece at the end of high school. Vaguely, because I was full of certain intoxicating liquids all the time These days I'm much more into shish kebab. Yummy.
Anyway, I thought that a little laught would do everybody good, so I present you with some comics. I find them hilariousAdrie, half elven bard. Drawing by Vulion, avatar by CheesePirate. Re: Haruki's Historically Hilarious Honey-covered Random Banter #94
I always loved Calvin's snow creations. The only strips I liked better were the ones that took place in his imagination. And the Transmogrifier.
Did anyone else create crowds of tiny snowmen for the sole purpose of destroying them? Actually, come to think of it, I think I got the idea from that very Calvin and Hobbes strip. That didn't make it any less entertaining, of course. Many thanks to Castaras for the avatar!

I didn't have the idea when I was young and now I don't have snow So, the answer would be no. Oh, and I'd probably be taken away in restaining jacket if I did that now, seeing my age
But seriously, we haven't had almost no snow for three years now. What's up with that?Adrie, half elven bard. Drawing by Vulion, avatar by CheesePirate. Colored version by Callos_DeTerran. Re: Haruki's Historically Hilarious Honey-covered Random Banter #94
Psh. You are never too old to crush snow-minions beneath your feet.
As much as I complain about the snow and the cold, I really don't mind it that much (as long as my car runs). I don't think I would like to live somewhere where it never snowed. That would be sad. Especially if it was still nasty and cold but with no snow to make everything pretty and provide entertainment. Or if it rained a lot, instead. Yuck. Also, I deal much better with cold than with heat, so any place that was too warm to snow would probably be unbearable in the summer.
On a somewhat related note, I get to go skiing tomorrow! I am really excited, because I have only gotten out once so far this winter. Hopefully it will be warmer than weather.com is predicting, because right now they are saying the high will be -15 F.Many thanks to Castaras for the avatar!

I was in Montana the last week, and I am glad to have my rain rather than the constant below freezing cold they have there. But the wind is what kills me. I hate adding the wind to the rain.

So, hey, it snowed here. How about that?
Of course, this would all be better if it wasn't just a light powder. The sugar coated weetabix level of snow.

Re: Haruki's Historically Hilarious Honey-covered Random Banter #94
Well, it depends on who you ask, really. Most people over here seem to think that such games are beneath anybody who is older than 20, which I am, and that he should immediately take a CT in case any tumor is pressing on his brains too much. I know, strange, but that's how it is
Personally, I'm quite fond of snow. More so when I don't have to go to work or school on snowy days, but even then it's not a big problem. I like showeling it, I like snowfights I like snowed up pine trees... Pretty much everything. Winter is a good season, if you ask me. And I'm much like you, I tolerate cold much better than heat.
The problem is that we have lousy winters over last years over here. It usually doesn't snow at all during December and January and then we get a bucket load of snow at March or April. Crazy weather indeed.
Oh well. Have fun skiing.Adrie, half elven bard. Drawing by Vulion, avatar by CheesePirate. Colored version by Callos_DeTerran. Re: Haruki's Historically Hilarious Honey-covered Random Banter #94
There's some things that you're never too old for, especially playing in the snow.
I really miss my infrequent trips to Seattle. I had a blast climbing the mountains and innertubing on the snow.
Also, Arizona stinks for snow, but we're awesome for food. I know of at least 5 different places that sells gyros and baklava, 2 of which you can also smoke hookah at and one that has bellydancers. You can also find tai, Korean, Japanese, russian, germanic, italian (also wine and cheese) and assorted other restaurants.
Ah my sun-baked state, I forgive you sometimes.Avatar by Shades of Gray

Oh, I agree with you one hundred percent But you know how it is. As you grow older you're supposed to get more mature and part of that obviously includes to stop playing games. Any kind of games. Otherwise you're labeled as weirdo.

Its official. The ending of Cloverfield has been ruined for me! I was planning on seeing it sometime this week. I was flipping through the channels and when I came to channel five (UK TV now, remember), I noticed that the channel five movie review was on and they where reviewing it. I watched it for a whole 10 seconds before the reviewer pretty much told me the ending!
For those of you who have seen it or dont care, here's what he said:
Spoiler"I could not identify with any of the main characters and, frankly, I was glad when they all died"
I mean, sure, I guessed that that's how the film ended. Its a monster movie. But still, this ruins any surprises for me!Homebrew Stuff:Mynithal Beetle: Entry in the Vorpal Tribbles Creepy Crawlies contest (OZZY, DONT LOOK!)

Re: Haruki's Historically Hilarious Honey-covered Random Banter #94
Huh? Are gyros even weirder than expected, or do I just have the wrong idea?
Yeah, I heard that opinion a couple of times. It's fun to watch people's faces when you hit them with the social benefits of structured play though ("It's part research, part training or rehearsal, part myth recreation, part socialising mechanism, part..."). Then the poop really hit the fan when you point out them that their most beloved sport is equally a form of play, only not so worthwhile.
How come? We all know it was Shin-Goji on a drunken bender (link NSFW).

Gyros and baklava are both delicious, but unfortunately there is nowhere to get Greek food in Orlando. There's a Lebanese restaurant, but no Greek. I hate Florida.

Good one!
But ah, in the city where I lived, there used to be a greek restaurant. I could only go once before it closed. I guess that city wasn't prepared for it...
Oh, and check the link. You got it wrong. It's xkcd, not xckd

Ahh...new thread smell! This thread smells of...honey? *looks around for bees*
Speaking of baklava, yummy! And I haven't had breakfast yet, so that's be perfect! Of course, the closet place I know of to get it is in Minneapolis, and I don't feel like driving for half an hour just to get baklava.
Although, they do have awesome falafal as well....
On the other topic of the day...it's snowing....again...
Maybe I'll take my son out to play later...go search out a good sledding hill or something.

Re: Haruki's Historically Hilarious Honey-covered Random Banter #94
I HATE SNOW!!
HATE
HATE
HATE
HATE
HATE SNOW!!
When i was 10 we lived in the state of Indiana (not for very long mind you)
When i was there, they had the worst blizzard they had in 75 years.
3ft of snow (0.9144 m or 914.4 mm)
We lived in a tiny traller on 1 acre of land. The pipes would freeze and we'd get no water if we ever turned it off.
The locks on the house froze and we had to break into our own house, shoving my little brother through the window to open the door from the other side. And i had to carry a huge thing of cat littler, 1/2 an acre out in the snow and dump it next to were we had to burn the garbage (which i had to do sometimes)
Ive seen enough snow to last a few lifetimes!!
