Re: Werewolf Central III - All potential wolves please read
Won't the assassins be pretty easy to find?
Hmm. Though that may be a fair price for a night kill ability.
V I don't know. I'd figure people would be constantly searching for the white text. Shadow.Last edited by Reinholdt; 2008-11-07 at 04:11 PM.

If I were o take the role of assassin, I'd simply post something silly.
Something that no one would miss later.
The white text would be in that post.Reinholdt

Re: Werewolf Central III - All potential wolves please read
Uh.....
I don't think that will work very well... let's investigate.
There are 8 roles. Let's assume at least 40 players. That's on average 5 of the same role in the game. This will cause problems.
First of all, I don't see why when Howard nearly broke the game last time, why you not only bring him back, but make MORE of him. With 40 players, you'll have 6 ducks, which gives a *does math* 55% chance that at least one Howard will be on the Ducks. Okay, but now let's say the players find a Howard. Now you don't know if he's evil or not! Plus, any other Howards will be forced to stay off wagon, as preventing a lynch only HELPS the ducks, as it takes away the main weapon the Llamas have.
Secondly, the assassin won't work well. White text isn't that hard to find. Then you waste baner protections preventing the called kill.
Thirdly, this is assuming that all roles get picked equally. This is NOT going to happen. You are going to have a GLUT of seers and baners. Trust me. Everyone likes having a power role, and these are the most popular. Even when making half the seer/fool roles fools will leave a lot of seers I would wager. Though the confusion will get sorted out as soon as one finds another. The baners will make it even more likely a kill will be blocked. And having a lot of these roles will make the ducks' job near impossible!
Multiples of the other roles could break things too. I'll have to think of this. Shoot, multiple of ANY role could be problems, especially roles this powerful.
Honestly, what I liked about LLD is that everyone's role is UNIQUE. Or at least different. Everyone has something unique to contribute. By having 5 seers in this game, each seer feels less valuable. And while a lot of the roles were weak (out of necessity) they all had potential to be useful in certain situations. And each role becomes more powerful when used in conjunction with other roles.
But when you let MULTIPLE identical power roles work together, you're just going to get a mess. Trust me.
Thumbs down, I have a VERY bad feeling about this idea. Please still with the original LLD concept. I can help design it if you like.Avatar by Glasswhistle

Add to this the hideage of white text, if allowed, by placing it into an url, like this..

Re: Werewolf Central III - All potential wolves please read
To easily track-able, if there wasn´t a kill during the day, they can easily track down those who didn´t vote and so on, thus easily finding it out. Also if you do kill, it would be pretty easy to trace unless you join a big bandwagon which already has potential to lynch a person and thus waste your kill.....
So a no-go I think.

Re: Werewolf Central III - All potential wolves please read
Hmm, maybe it would be better if it was done in either normal black text or white text and the target also PM´d to the narrators.
This role could be good for some RP´ers, or tacticians.

What about this: The killer choses the way he announces his kill himself.
For example: Every second letter in the word, except the words in an other hight:

Hmm... EDK did a game where everyone had a role of their choice, except two things different. 1) The roles where significantly weaker. 2) Everyone had to declare their roles when they signed up.

Re: Werewolf Central III - All potential wolves please read
We'd require a PM from every assassin to clarify and make sure.
PhantomFox - You run a game with individual roles for everyone, so having another is kinda redudant IMO. As for the other stuff...
Sure, multiple seers. With scry interference in effect and voiders out there, plus fools - that role is no where near as powerful as in other games.
Baner - CARELESS baners. They can't protect themselves, they can only protect others. If two baners happen to find each other, well that's two that can protect each other at night. Plus baners on the duck side? More of a help then hinderance to them, but not a game breaking thing.
Assassins - powerful role, limited by the fact that it must point at a person in white text. A known hinderance to the role. Followed up with the fact they have to leave the post there (good thought though Shadow!) until the narrators can confirm it against the PM they sent in order for the kill to happen, makes them easily voidable or the target bane-able. Only the cleverest of the clever will be able to sneak this one in.
And the roles are decided before the teams. So it's not like the ducks will know to pick the roles of Howard the ? before the game starts. Plus Howard biggest asset is his weakness - he has to literally point in red at someone for that person to be saved. With the chance of multiple howard being out there = only more confusion to tracking them or for them to hide properly. Plus, VOIDERS and VORTEXERS will completely screw with Howards abilities.
Sure, it could possibly happen that everyone, everyone, picks assassin and on day 1 manage to point at someone who in turn is pointing at someone else, meaning game over night 1.
Honestly, I think Voider might be the most powerful role in the game, but if you have voiders attacking voiders...well they aren't a game breaking role either.
I've also been thinking that I may create some roles that are combo-roles before game start, just to add more confusion.
Like a Voider-Baner - can either void or bane once per night, but not both.
Just layers upon layers of confusion, which is where Llama and I want it to be.

Re: Werewolf Central III - All potential wolves please read
And what's wrong with having multiple massive role games? I don't know if another Smash will be running by April anyhow. I based Smash of of YOUR game, you have the RIGHT to make another one! Shoot, I'll HELP. I was kind of hoping you were taking notes from Smash so as to make yours better. It don't think it'd be redundant, I was hoping that it'd be a pioneer of a sub-genre, like paranoia with neigh no-info, or multiple wolf team games.
Please don't let the fact that I do Smash keep you from doing your own thing. I'd feel bad to kick you out of the sub-genre YOU created.
As for the current idea, I just get the feeling that there is way too much potential for game breaking team ups. I know that you're aiming for mass confusion, but this seems too much. It seems that there is no info that anyone could trust, or infer anything out of. It's like... being in a maze versus being in a maze blindfolded and being teleported every 2 minutes.
I dunno... I just have a bad gut feeling about this.Avatar by Glasswhistle

Re: Werewolf Central III - All potential wolves please read
I, for one, will be posting names in white all game long.
Perhaps names of other players not playing LLD2 to see if they die in other games.
Even if I'm not an assassin.
All I have to do is put one of three or four names down each night to make someone believe that I am one, and then I'm creating teh chaos that the Goof and Llama want. And that'd really be what I wanted for this.
Also, I'm starting to think that LLD was my first WW game...
