I tried to keep it as morally ambiguous as possible. There is a protagonist, but there are no "good" and "bad" guys. Even the aliens involved are no better or worse than the humans.

But I won't go into too many more details. I hope some New York-ian will appreciate what this Midwesterner has written.

    But thanks, Dragonprime...

Moral ambiguity is always a good change of pace. Then again, I read through so much Soviet sci-fi over the summer that laser beam bazooka wielding marines that shoot everything instead of having a plot don't really work anymore. Also, happy endings are for suckers.

On the subject of books, I discovered something last night:
    I like detective novels.
    I like fictional detective novels.
I like fictional detective novels with supernatural themes.
I like fictional detective novels with supernatural themes based in the great lakes area.

Hobbies... Anywhere where you can learn archery? That's fun. Or some martial art. Or learn an instrument. Or...

In the booksellers world, detective novels are very similar to trashy romance novels.
Being that the vast majority of them are horribly written, sell like hotcakes, and disdained by anyone with a good amount of common sense.

+1 this. Archery rocks. I spent a while practising it (when I was going through my martial arts phase a few years back).

More worryingly my sister, a primary school teacher, has also taken up archery this summer. I fear for her class next year.

Or some martial art. Or learn an instrument. Or...

    What else is there?
Craft skills: Carpentry ("All hail King Norm!"). Scrimshaw or woodcarving. Bookbinding (classes in it all over the place, even Norfolk).

Or you could just host a dungeon.

Hmm... out of interest, because it's starting to sound like a fun project, who would read a blog by me?
I wouldn't discuss my life and it's tribulations because, frankly, you could read tens of thousands of blogs of the same damn thing and the only defining feature of mine would be some form of genre awareness.
I'd use it to discuss whatever I happen to be enjoying (or not) at the time; video games, film, TV, maybe even politics. Maybe a couple of just random prose or poetry.
I would also use it to post entries from the Cat-Muffinmicon. I need to do more on this, and giving myself some sort of schedule via a blog, with definite people reading and enjoying, would probably give me the motivation I need to do it.

    Heh. Additional pylon-ninja'd.

Also, I tend not to read blogs... I mean, yeah, everyone likes an output, but they tend to be somewhat boring, no offence intended to anyone who might have one mind you.

If you do a blog and fill it with the most inane, crazy and insanity-inspiring things then I might read it though.

I have a blog, it just happens to be full of my probably uninformed and generally negative opinion of nearly everything I could think of. Also it updates slowly, because I don't write in it often.

Have to say I don't discuss my life, per se, just the things in it that I despise. Haven't written anything on my job though. I should do so. Maybe I'll complain how minimum wage hasn't moved in years and the pay increase I get every 500 hours is a whole 25 cents....
