So here's an idea: Let's take one motivator that could be adapted to completely different contexts. Then everyone who wants to give it a try comes up with alternative versions with a new picture and new description, but for the same title. When you think it's time to set a new one up for others to get creative, just issue a new challenge.

I think this one could be adapted into countless variations.

Granted, I also liked the matrix sequels. I am aware they're nowhere as good as the first movie, but I still found them fun to watch.

Cataclysm had a nice story, but the mechanics stank. I still haven't played all of Homeworld 2, and I think I don't like the "your mothership can only produce one thing at a time". Such is life. I owe a tax. Too bad I don't have my original win of Homeworld. I was winning so hard, my strategy guide was obsolete.

Let me guess, so many salvage corvettes that you always captured everything, exceeding the supposed fleet size caps by a ridiculous margin?

The acting was poor, the pacing was subpar, the action (especially in the second one) was horribly implemented CGI shenanigans that didn't even try to look real. And you can't have a story where everyone tries to be the stoic. You need emotion to bounce the stoic off of or you just have a bunch of blank slats doing blank slate things. Without the characters, or the audience, getting emotionally invested.

Being complex has little to do with why it's considered bad.
