Re: House of Much Random Banter and Haluesen's Various Wondrous Cookies #197
People who go around annoying wildlife don't get much sympathy from me.
I suppose there is that... Just make sure to leave enough letters around in case of emergencies.
That's what I meant. Taste is most important after all.
As I said, I wouldn't really know. I do live under a rock after all.
Indeed it is. One of these days, I will acquire a book on the language of flowers and tell you exactly what flowers you should have at your funeral.
Well, I wouldn't have expected such an occurrence, so I suppose yes. How it would change, I don't know. The change of gender would be a neutral event on the opinion meter, becoming an aunt raises it slightly, and from here it gets complicated.
I could not agree more. I wouldn't want to usher in a terrible pestilence that ends society as we know it. Plus, I can't rise a horse so I'd look pretty foolish if that ever happened. Oh you and your crazy links...
Hmm... I can't do immediately... But I will be in contact about rescheduling that appointment.
They can get their own bands.
That's also important, but when you can fit in extra meanings, it's even better. But that may be just because I occasionally like to keep secrets and/or do that little bit of extra work. I like symbolism sometimes.
Biology is unfortunately annoying. It is the bane of my existence.
Great Aunts are even better. It is indeed unfortunate that one's older relatives reach the end of their lives just as one gets old enough to speak to them as an adult.
You have my sympathy.
Huh... Odd...
Well, of course you'd use a Swedish term for it, hence the "or something".
Now I am in need of a cape with an elegant clasp of silver and either rough citrine or amethyst. I just need to see about getting a good cape. One that looks good rather than terrible if I tried it myself.
I can understand the ambiguity.
It is true. However, I have the unfortunate duty to inform you that the future isn't all that amazing. But we're working on it for when you people finally catch up.
Reasonably. Listening to old music for no good reason.
I am rather tired now that I think of it. I should set out in a crystal ship across a sea of silver to the Island of Peaceful Dreams and lie amongst the grass beneath the stars... Wall of text + next to no punctuation (except for periods/question marks). I have gotten used to it, though.
Well, they keep coming back, so I don't think we've got anything to fear. Plus, I'm only killing the uppercase letters.
Forsooth.
*lifts up rock* Come on out, Elemental! There's a whole world here!
Bah, I'll never die.
Heh
What reason would there be not to listen to old music? There's plenty of good old music!

Re: House of Much Random Banter and Haluesen's Various Wondrous Cookies #197
You'd probably find a place with google, aye? There must be some game restaurant around there. I mean, It's Californyuh and everything.
Tiny spiders are the only creepy thing. And moths. *shudder*
No, no. I came here to cry when Amifool was being a meanie to me, and then he declares that it's his corner. That's when I decided to move in, just to spite him. And also steal his musics. Our cohabitation in the corner has been a relative success in my opinion. I mean, I got him to put shelves on these white walls! *pats her plants*
Dunno, battles must have been rather casual at least in some places...
What you described doesn't sound like a berliner to me... Hmm. And I quite like berliners, when I'm on a sweet mood.
*barf*
Beware, Amidus might snatch them first.
I like how it goes all silent and sort of vanishes the moment I show it affection.
Why... Why would you put it in a bread?
You might've not tried to do that physically, but the emotional pressure has been there. But, I will not fall down from that!
Hrm. Dunno. Food is essential, and it's good if it tastes nice, but you're possibly right. Doesn't apply to everyone though, but I could imagine that from the majority you can judge their background based on their food habits as well.
Your ethnic cuisine, mixing it with other things? What, how KFC would match with couscous? I jest, I jest.
The last. *shudder* Just... it's so messy... And it must sound really bad too...
Dunno, I have never had problems with vegetables as a child. I was the only kid that didn't have any problems with any other food than the basic mashed potatoes and meatballs like my siblings did. Some children actually avoid vegetables because they do not like the texture and are oversensitive to it, and start to associate that uncomfortable texture with the taste. *shrug*
Bear jelly would actually taste super nice, I think. Pork jelly's super good, so why not bear...
Mmh, probably. I've just faced the issue where I like some flowers a lot, but for example when we've been talking about ideal wedding bouquets (hey, I can dream ) back in school I've been taunted for the idea of having death and negative emotion related flowers in my ideal combinations. What the heck? Why do some people care so much about some silly meanings someone has made up, it's just a bunch of flowers? They look nice together, that's all! *rant rant rant*
My gran and great aunts from mum's side keep on fighting who makes the best cabbage casserole, and they always wonder why I think one of them makes the best stuff even though they all use the same recipe. Ah well. More food for me.
*nod nod* Something I need to come to terms with.Originally Posted by LaZodiac

Believe what you want to believe, youngling.
A matter of translation. Bread, sandwich, it's the same in Finnish.
Well, knowing myself with anything that describes itself messy, I'll just have to dream on and keep on avoiding foods that end up going derpy. The only meals I skipped in school were tortillas. *shudder* Well, I learned how to fold it properly after I quit school, but... Memories remain.Originally Posted by LaZodiac

If you're going to call me young, I'm going to call you old.
Hrm... What do you use for just bread, then?
Nah, it's fine! I can eat them almost entirely without spilling any delicious meat/sauce. Same with tortillas; you've just got to know how to go about it.

Re: House of Much Random Banter and Haluesen's Various Wondrous Cookies #197
Oh, did I mention that I changed a baby for the first time yesterday?
That was weird. Thankfully did not go as badly as I expected it too, though he did **** himself within moments of his mother taking him back after I finished taping the new diaper in place.
What, you mean, like, people who go outside? Who go for walks on the sidewalk? Who hike on established hiking paths?
Well, add some roll to the rock and you can live under rock'n'roll.
All of them. Just as a slap in the face to everyone who knows the language of flowers. Because you're dead and who cares if you're rude to the people at your funeral from beyond the grave?
Well, I suppose it is harder on woman cubs than on man cubs, growing up in the world today, yeah. I imagine a niece would have been about the same as a nephew at this point. ...Not sure if it would be more or less awkward to change a niece's diaper over a nephew's diaper though.
Oh, you. That's like, 10 steps past contagious. You infect everyone while you're still like the common cold. THEN you crank up the lethality.
Processing... Processing... Initiating Standard Reclamation Protocols.
Annoying, but invigorating too.
It's one of those messy things that always convince me we should probably re-write a particular component of our existence.
What more reason do you need than music? Sounds like a fun ship.
More old than new, IIRC.
Yay!
Technically it'd be trying to figure out how to make everything into a hot brown variant. *shudder* That, or burgoo, the stew that's only done when a opossum falls into it. And, y'know, meatloaf. Chicken Salad.
It doesn't really sound all that different from eating a sandwich or hamburger Nor is it particularly messy as long as you do the sauce thick and/or don't overburden the bread. Then again, some people find overburdening the bread to part of the fun.
Interesting. The true omnivore babby. I think I've mentioned that just the smell of beans cooking caused me to make a vomitous mess of things, so my parents learned to only cook them while I was out somewhere until I hit about 4 or so and could be released in the backyard unattended for lengths of time to play with the dog and swing set.
Bear jelly? I've only heard of piggy jelly and that's because of Earthbound/Mother 3.
Ahh, food bribery. An ancientk convention.
Takes all kinds. *shrug* Always left bits and bobs on the plate, but that just meant you could sop it up with your backup bread.

Re: House of Much Random Banter and Haluesen's Various Wondrous Cookies #197
Thick bread with good structural integrity rather than el cheapo "sandwich" bread that is typically available. Think real bread versus something like wonderbread or some similar mass-produced bread. I'm sure that Britain at least has something analogous even if Finland has been spared from such debased bread.
Not in the U.S. at least.
The way folks talk about it, you're not done ripening till about your late 20s, early 30s anyway. *shrug* I always found that all it took to make me ripe was two days of rigorous activity and no shower.
Amidus is fairly joyous, aye. Some foods just take a knack, like properly twirling spaghetti.

Re: House of Much Random Banter and Haluesen's Various Wondrous Cookies #197
You had not.
Heh
Eh... depends on what you call "new". If you mean only things released this decade? Yeah, sure, the old things win out by sheer volume. There's plenty of good new(ish) music out there, though; some of my favorite albums were released this year or last year.
Indeed. Even Sauron would agree: everyone needs more Doors.
Indubitably.
Indeed. But that's only after you've had a few sandwiches, so there's enough on the plate to wipe up properly.
Not around here, unless we've got a different name for it. It doesn't strike me as terribly odd, though.
So you say...
If you use "bread" to mean "sandwich", then what do you use to mean "bread"? Having them both be the same word is just silly.
I would definitely anything with all the joy.
Speak to me of this game, and tell me its secrets!

From what I can tell of Rogue, Angband is basically slightly more advanced. It's based off the fortress of Angband in the Silmarillion, and is D&D based. I think you'd like it. You can be different races and classes too. The thing is you have to download it, but it's quite fun.

Here's a quick sketch of what I imagine, colour-coded for your convenience:
Spoiler
And pictures of knives are totally allowed, it happens from time to time in the You! thread that someone showcases his or her collection of blades, and it has never been any trouble. For as long as they don't depict you stabbing anyone with them, you should be fine.
:3
And what even better is, the blueberries around here haven't dried away!
*noms blueberries*
I've always thought that vegetable-hating children was something Hollywood had made up. I've never met any child which hate vegetables with such passion...
I'm cruel!? :smallshockedsad:
In this case, I think the letters are the emergencies.
I'll say the same about yours.
Yeah, getting myself a good cape is one of my life goals. Preferably one looking like the back of a bird with a set of wings to wrap around myself if it gets cold. And a good silver clasp... :smalldreamy:
EDIT:
I think the source of confusion was that you said that it was a weird-or-something thing to put in bread, and Amidus (IIRC) corrected you with that it's put on bread, only he called the bread "sandwich"
Also, as far as names go, we Swedes call bread "bröd" and sandwish "macka".Last edited by Teddy; 2013-07-26 at 10:23 AM.

Re: House of Much Random Banter and Haluesen's Various Wondrous Cookies #197
Heh. Finnish language has many words for this lovely thing, all dependant on dialect I think. There's lihahyytelö which means meat jelly, then there's syltty, alatoopi... So on.
I think I'm getting very confused over here, perhaps because I don't really know what a cheapo sandwich bread means to you... I'm a rye bread type of a person, anyways. Hmmmh.
BLASPHEMY! Burn the non-believers!
Ah, I have pleeeeeeeeenty of time then before I'm all good and ripened.
Hmmh, wikipedia tells that the English name for this is head cheese.
Huh? Uh, well, bread is leipä... Well, sandwich is voileipä (butterbread, you know, spreading butter all over that thing, mm-hmm), but no one refers it as so that way. If we talk about a particular sandwich, we just say for example of a ham & cheese sandwich that it's kinkkujuustoleipä. At least where I'm from and how I've learned to express it...
.. Now, the amount of derpeage I've had lately... I think it's time to fix my sleeping somehow.

Now I'm imagining a casual battle. "Dude, I think that guy might be trying to kill you." "Hmm? Oh, yeah, that. I'll take care of it after I finish my sandwich." "Nah, don't bother, I've got it." *casually rips attacker's head off* "Thanks, man."
Well, there are different ways of making them. I simply prefer the kind with chocolate frosting and custard filling.

Well, naturally! You'll just have to come over here, because frozen blueberries don't taste nearly as good, and it's kind of too far for me to mail them fresh. Plus, I'm not entirely sure the customs are going to approve of it either...

Re: House of Much Random Banter and Haluesen's Various Wondrous Cookies #197
Holy geez! I sleep for a few hours and random banter just explodes with activity. I can't quite keep up with the many entwining conversations but I can respond to a few things. Also greetings everyone.
That is very true. I can't think of any kind of cooking that comes from California but I know a lot about Southern cooking from shows on tv (gotta love the travel channel). But all of this discussion of great food (especially country fried steak!) is making me hungry for breakfast. Too bad I don't have much of that at the house here.
Ah so I see. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to get used to. However I am never able to master walls of text. I write what is a lot for me only to discover that it pales in comparison to the work of many others.
Oh I probably could, I am just very sheltered currently (not sure that is the right word) and even if I find a place I can't actually get there, and even if I had a way to get there I have not enough money. Still, I can at least look into it. So I shall. Thank you for the inspiration Finny! *hugs*
Ah okay good story to explain that. So no joint corner conquering?
I guess at some point but not over where I live. I mostly keep all my little weapons for aesthetics but I do keep them nearby around the house. I am terrified of someone trying to break in. Fortunately between many dogs, a small armory of blades, and my own martial arts training, the house if fairly safe. Unless zombies attack. Then I am most screwed.

Of course it is. It's Finnish.
It's only around 9pm! Plus I need to pack! No time, no time, no time!
