Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread IX
Bleh. Word of warning for all ABRers. Never poke around in your computer BIOS unless you're absolutely sure of what you're doing. When trying to overclock my processor, I somehow corrupted the BIOS in such a way that the computer stopped sending out video signals.
Then when I went to sleep, the Power Pack burnt itself out. Despite the computer being turned off.
So I ended up moving my entire motherboard to a different computer with a power pack that only provides about 2/3s of the power the last one did, and hence could go at any time, and having to figure out how to manually restore BIOS defaults.
Luckily my hard dirve survived, so comic should be up soon.Last edited by Keris; 2008-09-23 at 08:51 AM.

Are you taliking about altering the essential program files? I did that once... Luckely, my dad is a computer programmer, so it worked out OK... But still... I pity you...

Ouch, man. See you next Spring.
That's the second time you've double posted. The Edit button's there for a reason, you know.
A-ha. No. Far, far more dangerous than that. In terms of danger, it's the difference between a party popper and a grenade.
Though my PSU's been having some problems, might check that out in the BIOS.I am the golden shadow. I am the Ninja Chocobo

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread IX
I used to have a macbook.
Both photoshop and illustrator is available for OS X. In fact, everything you can do on a PC you can do on a mac. Gaming is a little problematic, but there are VMs and windows emulators, as well as boot camp (natively dualbooting windows on an apple-made computer).
They are really wonderful computers, and OS X is by far the best OS I've ever used, but they are ridiculously expensive.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread IX
...And they're confusing as hell to navigate through. Setting up my wireless network always takes at least 30 mins, even to reboot it.... Windows takes about 30 seconds.... Plus, Macs have all their program files everywhere.... And have awful auto-anti virus softeware (deleted X11, cannot download a new one because mac thinks we still have it).

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread IX
Well the good news is, you arn't obligated to buy a Mac. Technology has given you choice, between the Pc and the Mac. I however, went one step further and bought both.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread IX
There are just so many things wrong with "PC" instead of "Computer", it's like saying "America" when you mean "The USA". It's inaccurate and it bugs the heck out of everyone that knows the difference.
One of the most basic problems with PC is that it's used all too commonly to refer to any non-Mac computer. But "personal computer" (PC) means ANY computer used by anyone that doesn't fill a campus building or such, it was first used to differentiate home and office computers from things more like Colossus. The term PC encompasses not just Microsoft computers but Macs as well.

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread IX
PC is a perfectly good term... it's just it could still mean a Macintosh product, since 'Personal Computer' doesn't automatically mean it's running Windows (or Linux...but shhh).
BUUUUT LYING.... 'Computer' has the same problem (except for the home/work differentiation). A Mac is still a computer.
I propose we call all computers running Windows 'Dave' and those running Linux 'penguins'

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread IX
Yes, I figured that out after some time.
But why? What's the point? Why make it more difficult? What for? Why not just have two buttons.
However, it is very good for movie edditing...
@Lying: Computer is the genral term for all type's of computer.
Then you get the three makes, Mac, PC (which is ugenerally used for microsopht) and another one that everyone seems to hate but I forget the name.
Technically a calculator is a computer.Last edited by Nameless; 2008-09-23 at 12:39 PM.
