Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Also, Smoker is crazy awesome in One Piece, I wish he had more screentime, but he should now that he's going to the New World.
My favorite character. I mean come on, he smokes TWO or sometimes THREE cigars at once!

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
There are other sites, you know...
Incidentally, I would rank the arc quality as follows:
Impel Down
Enies Lobby
Arlong
Water 7
Arabasta
Captain Kuro
Saobondy Archipelago
Thriller Bark
Little Garden
Loguetown
Whiskey Peak
Buggy the Clown
Drum Kingdom
Baratie
Marineford
Captain Morgan
Davy Back Fight
Jaya
Skypeia

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Now I had quite a gap of about a year or two when I didn't read at all, so I don't remember all of some of the earlier arcs.
But I remember don't really liking Thriller Bark, nor the Archiapelego ( spelled )
However Alabasta I remember as a great arc, one of the best,

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
The CP9? LN all the way man. Except for Spandam, who is... either LE or CE.
Well, not to sound racist or anything but the average height of Japan is 5'7", so Luffy is only slightly below average. Thanks for the awesome avatar goes to Djinn_In_Tonic. Thanks!

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
I'd say they're LE and Spandam is CE.
Maybe so, but he isn't necisarilly Japanese. And I think Oda said that all the crew weren't Japanese. Go to the trivia page on the individual people. According to the trivia section (which gets its stuff from the SBS) Luffy wold be Brazillian if he was a real person. So yeah.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
All CP9 members are various flavors of evil. I'd say Lucci is pretty clearly Neutral Evil, with that wolf guy and maybe Spandam as Chaotic Evil, while the rest seemd pretty Lawful.
Granted, they aren't the same baby-eating Eeevil than Akainu or Don Flamingo, but I think their generally cruel, callous and sadistic personalities are enough to put E at the end of each one's alignment."It's the fate of all things under the sky,
to grow old and wither and die."

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Well, whattayaknow, the average height for Brazilians is the same of the Japanese. So, hey, same thing.
Well, this is as their original versions, not the recently reformed pirate crew which we saw in those silent stories on the covers?
Now that I think about it and look
Kaku: CN. He does everything for the fun of it. Yes, he is also a government agent.
Blueno: LE. He is the only one who really is a godless killing machine.
Kumadori: LN. He loves the samurai code, and follows his rules pretty well.
Lucci: NE. Sadistic and cruel, he fits this pretty well. He is one of the NE people who isn't motivated by greed, just sadism and serving the government.
Jyabura: NE. He is a jerk. Plain and simple.
Spandam: CE.
Kaifa: Ehhh, LE.
I'll do the Straw Hats later...Thanks for the awesome avatar goes to Djinn_In_Tonic. Thanks!

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Oda's not really consistent of any character's body. It's just most noticeable in females. Also, I'm positive Nami and Nico robin have proportionally larger bust than Orihime already...

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
No, really? I never noticed! (I think on the evil pages I read something about them getting bigger and bigger, though I don't pay that much attention. Has something to do with Oda's wife, someone said)
Concerning the Strawhats... uh... NG or CG all through, I guess. Can't really be LX, since pirates aren't lawful. But I can't really see a valid argument against any of them concerning the good (okay, maybe the girls, sometimes, but generally their also good most of the time)

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
No, smoking is cool.
It's really not good for you, and it's annoying and smelly to bystanders, but there's a reason that Wolverine, Nick Fury, Cid Highwind, Integra, James Bond, Spider Jerusalem, Eddie Riggs, Tyler Durden, Bender, Ripley, Solid Snake, Constantine, Hellboy, Asuma, Sam Vimes, Brock Samson, Spike from Buffy, Spike from Cowboy BeBop, everyone in Black Lagoon, and The Spy all smoke. Because it looks pretty badass.
Besides, he's a man made of smoke. What the hell is cigar smoke going to do to him? Thanks to Andraste for the Void avatar.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Well, here.
Luffy: NG. I don't think he believes in personal freedom or anything. He just wants to have fun and become the pirate king. I would say TN, except he is also a nice altruistic guy, thus, NG. He might be leaning towards CG, but that is more his personality than his morals.
Sanji: Surprisingly, LG. He has a code, and he follows it. Mainly it's about protecting women, but hey, I think it counts.
Usopp: CG. Plain and simple.
Zoro: Eh, LG or CG. He keeps to a code as well.
Nami: CN. She never really acts "good." She helps her friends, but that doesn't mean she really is good.
Robin: TN or NG. She never does anything chaotic, just the government deems it so.
Franky: CG. He wants to be allowed to do what he wants whenever he wants to. To quote One Piece wiki:
"Franky is strong-willed, slightly crazy, and free-spirited, with an often blatant disregard for rules. He does whatever he wants whenever he wants..."
Sounds CG to me.
Chopper: NG. He justs wants to be nice to his friends. He is kinda naive, so he hasn't really formulated opinions for himself yet.
Brook: Not sure. CG, maybe? Thanks for the awesome avatar goes to Djinn_In_Tonic. Thanks!

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
more on the lines of CN or CG. she is thief that steals from pirates which were generally evil (a neutral act) for the purposes of buying her town back (a good act). back then she was more CG. she slips into more CN territory when she blackmails people such as zoro and Igaram.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
The key is that once she got her town back she kept on stealing, and with no guilt about it. We're also not talking about petty change here. Lastly, what is she doing right now? We just got more evidence of her robbing people blind.
Sure, if you can tug on her heart strings, Nami will help you. That's really not a big deal. I encourage you to look at Rich's articles on gaming, in particular about how evil characters can still have friends, etc.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
the thing is what has she really stolen since joining the straw hats?
She has stolen every wallet from the people of her village which they all seem to not have a problem with espcially since she left them 90+ million beries to them all.
She stole from the bounter hunters which were trying to kill them.
the whole group grabbed tons of treasure from a sepents belly in skypeia.
they also found the treasure that perona placed on their ship.
unless I am missing some time where she steals from a non evil group. I don't think you can really place her as CE. She is at worst CN and at best CG
edit: reading comprehension fail. anyway yeah the latest one used for her escape is rather bad. so i could see that being going off more to CE side. she did return but for a more self serving reason so taht doesn't help.Last edited by Illieas; 2010-09-07 at 05:06 PM.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
If Nami was Evil, she wouldn't have tried to help Arlong.
She really hasn't stolen from anyone good. She's looted, but that's different. I'd say she's N or CN, and that she just wants to be with the Straw Hats and become the worlds best cartographer.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Actually, from the looks of things she stole something that they had multiples of, because its the one thing that might let her navigate what are supposed to be the most dangerous waters out there.
For her to be evil, we'd need to see her do something that either intentionally does harm, or does harm accidentally and she doesn't care.Basilisk 6Pilot of the Thing
I'm not evil. My morals just aren't the same as society's.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Something about Robin's backstory that made me require mindsoap: A 17 year old girl saying this to a pirate crew: "Please, I will do anything."

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
*frowns*
Yeah, that was odd. Probably less dirty in Japanese.
Anyway, I just got to the chapter where they burn the Going Merry, and I remember reading this about a year or two ago in Japanese. Ahh memories.
I'm really mad at American JUMP they need to stop skipping around with bost OP and Naruto. It's really annoying.
