The Dungeon
This is not a Werewolf Game.
This is something different altogether.
In order to test the general intelligence and, more specifically, resourcefulness of the gamers on this board, I've decided to start a small campaign. Quite simple, quite rules light.
This (quite possibly rather brief) game will focus on a couple of adventurers heading down a particularly nasty dungeon with nothing to aid them but their skills and what equipment they've been able to scrape together from previous adventures. Okay, so that's not too bad, but you, the player, only have your mind as a resource, and that might be worse news.
The dungeon will be divided in rooms, and each room will feature quite possibly lethal situations. The game will be divided in rounds, during each of which the players get to respond to the new room with their character's actions. The last room will feature the legendary treasure the dungeon is rumoured to guard, and is obviously the goal of each and every character. Get the loot, and you win the game. Of course, if all of the other characters happen to die along the way and you get all of the loot to yourself, this would be much more of a victory then having to split it.
In order to prepare for the game, a player would simply have to pick a class from the list below and then choose the character's equipment. Each piece of equipment has a cost in points, with the maximum amount of points you're allowed to use being 100. You are allowed to purchase equipment off any other class' equipment list, but at double the cost.
Classes:
Thief:
SpoilerSkills:- Sneaking (requires sufficient darkness and/or cover)
- Lockpicking (requires some sort of lockpick, and obviously a lock)
- Pickpocketing (has a 50% chance of success, can be performed on any nearby character by PMing the GM. Upon failure the item remains with the victim and the victim notices your attempt to steal, upon success you steal the item and the victim doesn't notice until he next uses it)

Re: The Dungeon
I can't resist it. I have to take a cleric with a Holy Symbol of the Silly One.
Spoiler
20-Symbol of The Silly One
20-Symbol of Diogenes
20-Symbol of The Boar
20-Symbol of The Dark One
I am the servant of the Dark Silly Boar of Diogenes!
In the spirit of humility, I will disgard those splendid priestly robes in favour of something much more plain
10 - All Green Clothes
10 - All Black Clothes
I can then mix and match the costumes as necessary.
Default probably being green bottom, black top.
Do we need to "buy" the clothes listed? Can we assume we have some plain clothes without having to buy the gaudy stuff? Its not like I want to go naked - even if it would make me more invisible.
Otherwise I could just take another holy symbol...Last edited by evnafets; 2009-05-26 at 04:59 PM.

Also wasting too much time playing Evony right now.

Re: The Dungeon
I think using a scroll cost one mana, which would explain the relatively low starting mana.

Re: The Dungeon
I'll try this out.
Ranger:
SpoilerEquipment:
10(2)-Bow
10(2)-Quiver with arrows
20(1)-Spear
5(1)-Flute
5(1)-Coil of Rope

Question: Do I need a tinderbox to light the torch, or can I just swipe it across a wall? Or does it work like a flare? Sorry if this seems stupid, but every torch is different.Last edited by Boo; 2009-05-26 at 09:43 AM.

Awww... shoot. I just remembered I'm going to be gone soon for five days with no internets. I dont' want to stall the game up too much or anything like that. Guess I'll just have to pull out.

You start out with nothing at all, that even means no clothes.

I've made some slight changes to the equipment lists which you might want to take into account. The most important added feature is that you can now propose an item for your inventory to be approved by the GM.
Also, anyone who manages to win this game playing a jester, bravo. That is the hardest character to play as, I think, but it's definitely possible.Last edited by MrEdwardNigma; 2009-05-26 at 02:19 AM.

The Jester role seems heavily influenced by Shakespeare. I might try it instead of Ranger, since my current get-up feels too... sturdy.

Re: The Dungeon
You've got too many items there, Elrond (or rather, for too much points).
Yes, you can have more than one of a certain item, if you pay the cost several times.
Yes, you could take a flamethrower.Avatar by the illustrious Dr. Bath.

Re: The Dungeon
A reasonable suggestion, but this was done on purpose for various reasons, most having to do with balance. If the jester or the thief want a bow, they'll probably have to buy it at double the cost. Also, anyone has skill with a dagger, but throwing it falls under the archery skill.
That will probably be provided, yes.Last edited by MrEdwardNigma; 2009-05-26 at 04:41 AM.
