Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I LOVED Dragon! Glad to hear that you're considering starting it up again.
I have to say though that I liked the original design better. It just seems more...absent minded, which a seem to remember described Jerry pretty well. Also, the new design just seems too animalish, and the old design was in between and it was easy to imagine a human mind in that body. The original design had a more MiTD feel to it, and this new body? It's just plain weird.
I think it's just the head, though. I like the simple and OOTS-style head of the original but I don't think I like the weird round eyes of the newer template. I think if the old head was placed on the new body it would be a vast improvement. The new body is very smooth and cool looking.
Of course, I loved Dragon so much I wouldn't really care what art style it's presented in.
In due time.Last edited by Green-Shirt Q; 2010-01-15 at 10:24 PM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I don't really use stick style much anymore, but if you want, I could put up a little guide for making sleeveless/strapless shirts.
Or a guide to Mier style. Or whatever.
(My avatar is Mier style, if you're wondering what it looks like.)

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Yeah... Some here. I think your style is a variation of OotS-style. None of use actually do the exacly OotS-style, we all add our own stuff to it. Some more than others. Some even question if Reallity is OotS or not.
If you have a guide to your art please share it : )

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Since we're talking about style...
My "style" itself has changed from itself over the past year or two.
I started with really thick lines at 4 pixels.
Then I sort of cleaned up that style.
For my more detailed avatars I made the stroke two, and later stuck with that for all my stick art.
And then I made my torsos thinner and a bit taller to make it more OotS style.
The main difference between my style and Rich's is that my eyes are closer, and my limb measurements are probably a bit off. In fact, the only thing that has not changed between all my styles is the eye shape and distance from each other.Want an avatar? Shoot me a PM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I think the Inkscape help thread is made for such questions...
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111767
Or can you ask such questions here? If no, you are allowed to punch me, if yes, then please answer me this, for I haven't found a Illustrator Help Thread:
1. Is there a way to connect two anchor points without them being endpoints and without the use of the "compound shape" function?
2. Is there a way to edit part of a path without editing all of it? My problem is that I want to make part of an object without the border/outline, and accomplishing it by making two separated objects looks very bad sometimes and is a very huge pain in the behind, especially if you make Viera ears in the style I use (other versions of which others (like MethosHazara and EmeraldPhoenix) used before me)
My time is very limited, and these things would allow me to do more in the small amount of time I have.Last edited by Hyoumu Yau; 2010-01-18 at 04:57 AM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Attention, I need advice.
For my Comic, Rebellion|Revolution, I'm working to design a DSF sniper, I'm looking for advice on the character design. I have two bodies I'm considering, and six head designs (Well, different features added or subtracted)
Note, these are not the only choices available, if you have other things to suggest, go ahead.Last edited by BRC; 2010-01-23 at 10:00 PM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
How many other snipers could there possibly be?!
Besides, assuming they're all pointing at the same target, everybody would notice the clown sniper but fail to notice the REGULAR sniper on a different building. But then again, that's assuming they're all on the same team. I can't imagine why any other snipers would be there, though.
And, even if the enemy was defending the snipee with other snipers for some reasons, the clown could just disguise the gun as a water squirting flower or some other clowning aid of some sort. Then nobody would see that he's a sniper.Last edited by Green-Shirt Q; 2010-01-24 at 10:19 AM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
... i was not expecting that.
@Clown sniper: True, it wouldn't be expected, which would make it a good way to infiltrate a building, but then there's the problem of actually hiding the gun, and staying hidden when you actually get to the top of the building. Not even from other snipers, really. people could see a puffy red hairdo a mile awayLast edited by Kumo; 2010-01-24 at 10:48 AM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Sadly it would not fit with BRC's "Grimdark" comic setting. Plus, a clown on top of a skyscraper, with a sniper rifle disguised as a baloon animal/sword/gun (because a sniper rifle disguised as a squirting flower will not have accuracy, or even a sniper scope....except if it was a damn Predator style shoulder cannon disguised as a squirting flower) will still be "Obvious assassin is obvious" if shots are fired.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Because that would be silly.
Everybody knows that a properly trained Clown Assassin dosn't snipe people from rooftops, he sidles up all friendly like, makes you a balloon animal, and while he hands it to you, pricks you with a needle that you hardly feel. A couple hours later when the clown is long gone, the poison sets in, and nobody suspects the Clown of anything.
Edit: Chapter 3 will focus around a rebel Clown Assassin, up against a DSF-trained assassin Magician.Last edited by BRC; 2010-01-24 at 02:10 PM.
