Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
Hey Coffee! I know it's been long-time-no-see for us, but now I'm popping in to say that I like your latest updates a lot and to make a suggestion I've planned to make before but kept forgetting about:
Every now and then, your speech bubbles look like they're out of order. For example, in panel 5 of comic 26 (which is brilliantly named, BTW) it looks like Tinder's sister is asking to take care of things before Tinder delivers his news because her speech bubble is on top of his and in panel 2 of comic 25 the reader will tend to read Matt's "I'm on it" before Lloyd's orders since his bubble is the farthest to the left. I'm not sure how to go about fixing this since I've never written a comic before, but I'd recommend going through some sort of process of laying out speech bubbles once you're sure about your dialogue and then either arranging the characters to accomodate the sequence of bubbles or letting the bubbles cross each other.
(Sorry if someone else made the same observation a few pages ago or something; I've only been skimming the pages of this thread and have skipped several of them entirely.)
Anyway, I'm pretty excited about Tinder joining the party and Lloyd's backstory slowly coming out of the shadows, and I can't wait to read more.
Even though I disappeared without explanation a while back, I also regret the motivation-killing incident, but have decided to see how the ff.net thread's doing and maybe post there for a change. Also, if I get any fic ideas for the obscure-yet-satisfying fandom of Murphey's Law (romantic or otherwise (yes, though it may surprise some, I'm actually better at otherwise)), I assume they're still welcome here? (Seriously though, if you're reading, Roland, I don't have any intent to post any more crack pairings in the Playground; I don't want to rock the boat and really am more of a gen-fic person anyway.)That's what she said.Susan Sto Helit avatar by Felyndiira.

Can I ask what happened with the Crack Pairings thread?

Its dead. Somebody pushed the limits after we were given our last warning, and Roland did what he had to do.

Thanks, Shiny!
It would have looked awkward otherwise. That was really a no-win situation.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
Fridays until mid-June!
It's good to have you back.
And thanks everyone for the support. I'll feel better next week. Still, artwork reflects the mood. I have a strong feeling that, because of this, an already physically and emotionally painful fight that is scheduled many, many strips from now (It's looking to be about 200 strips from now! ) is going to be even more brutal.
Like V and the ABD brutal. But possibly worse. (Your Mileage May Vary once you see it. )Last edited by CoffeeIncluded; 2010-04-16 at 07:55 PM.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
Hum...I see.
It's interesting how Tinder's opinion about revenge differs from the Black Dragon Mommy’s one, especially when their history has so many similar points.
And I’m wondering here… Was Tinder joining the party originally in your plans? (as a fan comic, I see no problem with using readers ideas)I'm not an English native speaker. If you find any mistake, please PM me.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
Thanks. It's great to chat with you and the rest of the gang again.
Ugh, V vs ABD, huh? That reminds me of today when I was reading No Cure for the Paladin Blues (I got every book and prequel but Dungeon Crawlin' Fools for my B-day Tuesday! Squee!) The whole disintegration thing is only funny when you don't know the consequences... *wince*
I'm also glad that Tinder doesn't subscribe to the ABD school of vengeance; it's nice to see a sad backstory without the sadder consequences they often come with.Last edited by ShinyDelusion; 2010-04-16 at 07:59 PM.

Good comic. And ABD vs. V violence in the future? Yay! That was the best part of the comic after Miko died.
And we finally know the dragon's name! Cheers!Last edited by Dark Faun; 2010-04-17 at 04:21 AM.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
Actually, only the offending fic was purged. Plus we have copies of the other fics off-sight. I'm certainly dissapointed that the threads gone, but I undertand why Roland did it. Like the others, I have a lot of respect for him. I'm sorry about the damper it's put on your day Coffee, but I'm sure that your future comics will continue to be excellent.

Well, it's not "I'm going to kill your children" similar, but the sheer physical and emotional agony that the characters will be forced to endure. All of them. Some more than others.
Let's just say that the title for one of these strips is called, "Twisting The Knife".
Okay, I'll give two lines. But only because you're so nice.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
I have a suggestion for the comic, if you don't mind. Make the speech bigger, around 14 pt. I hate having to put my head so close to the screen. Type out the dialogue first, then enlarge/move the panels to fit it.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
Since, as far as I know, you don't plan to print your comic into books, Coffee, if making the text bigger hampers the panels, you can simply make the whole strip bigger.

Re: Murphy's Law (Thread 2!)
I'm finding the font more readable now, although I still think the speech bubbles are a bit cramped. If you're runnigng out of space in a panel, you could try extending the speech bubble outside the frame.
So they don't trust him just yet? I think I'm be a bit annoyed at being left tied up all night...This post may contain sarcasm.

Yeah, i wouldn't be very happy either if i had to sleep with my hands bound behind my back.
...Why do i get the feeling that Matt and Tinder are not going to get along?
Like, at all.
Lloyd: MATT! Quit trying to steal Tinder's hoard!
Matt: ...(Mutter]
Tinder: Nyah! *Sticks out tongue at Matt*
