Re: Favorite Playgrounder
Yay it's a Lykan! No one better start picking on Lykan again or he'll start blowing up stuff with that hand cannon he has. Speaking of the old Town days *posts his usual 8-bit celebratory town pic*
L to R: Goof, Death, El J, Me,
Sneak, Llama, Alarra, Amiria,
Mortia De Luna Draco, Gwen, Fenric, Lykan,
CabbageThief, Indurain, Hawkeye, Wukei.
I should add Jibar to the list too. I wouldn't have created two or three different types of CatMuffins for the PCs to fight in the adventure/encounter thingy I ran at the last Trogland Meetup, afterall. If only we had had time for the PCs to face the second encounter. =/

*Post plot intro*:
SpoilerIn the land of Playgroundia, in the region of Forum
Was a band of adventurers, a small, able quorum
who were out for blood, screaming loud battle cries
They wanted magic weapons, loot and supplies
But most of all... this band wanted... pies
Pies! But not cake - for the cake was all lies
So they delved into a dungeon of such small size
A single small room, 'bout as big as a diploma
From whence came the tantilizing aroma
of a pie... guarded by a lone orc with glaucoma.
Snicker-snack! Went the sound of their blades in the air
as they cut up the pie (the orc didn't have a prayer)
And as they feasted at the table in the room with his remains
one among them pulled out a note covered in stains
of pie filling from his slice... here's what it explains:
Help! You must help me, no matter your size
Help! I am trapped in a bakery making pies
They whip me and beat me - they're really quite vicious
making me create pies, which are quite delicious.
Made all from scratch, and very nutritious
But enough of this talk of taste and nutrition!
Listen up! I have for you a mission
Rescue me, Castaras, before I too begin to warp
I'm just outside of The Town in a nearby thorpe
at Malconfection, the Dread Bakery... a division of TrogCorp©
And so you agreed to take action and finished your pie
To the dread bakery you flew in the blink of an eye.
Your heart pounds, your knees shake, at the thought of the assignment
To delve in and free Castaras from her unfortunate confinement
On the wind is the smell of baked goods of fell alignment
So enough of the setup, let's get to the gamin'
Lets get to the combat, the hacking, the maimin'
Dice rollin' and fun, to the rhymes say adieu
Enough of all that, it's time you went through
The Adventure that could only be called... Orc and Pie II
*glompage* You're one of my favorites too. Though you sort of got lumped into "Playgrounders I have on Facebook" but a special mention couldn't hurt.
OY! You there! There's a certain matter of Trog's legal fees you never took care of! Bloody pirates mumble grumble
Actually Trog's the uh... fifth horseman... "Apathy". But uh... well Trog never bothered to, you know, let anyone know. *shrugs* Still have to pick out a horse sometime. *glances over other recent threads* Maybe a pony? Meh... who cares.

I thought I was the fifth horseman? I mean, I've got a thriving dairy delivery business. "On time, every time, fresh as can be." That's my slogan.
Charity, you somehow have managed to have worse luck than the single unluckiest man I currently know. That's.. impressive. I mean, two cars? Yikes.-Vonriel

Re: Favorite Playgrounder
Wouldn't death have to be someone who, uh... Tries to create as much life as possible, so to speak? >.>
... Ah, yeah. Makes sense.
That is so totally awesome why have I never seen this
This kinda makes me wanna make 8-bit music for the Town. But we never had music so that'd be kinda weird. And I can't make music. So there's a couple issues with the plan.
I'm kinda embarrassed by what I did in the town now. Every character I had was basically a hundred different cliches supercollided together.
Everyone else had neat stuff, though. You don't often get to see a heavily smoking reptilian bartender or a miniature fuzzy crimeboss or a witch that mainly travels about via flying V guitar.

Re: Favorite Playgrounder
It was, yes.
Well these were created for a game I was developing years back, set in the Town amongst other places. I was basically reskinning the original Legend of Zelda using the free program ZeldaClassic. I had built part of the overworld including the entire town and a separate inhabited area ruled over by Emperor Indurain. The region was full of royal purple vegetation and such, iirc.
The main character you play was Thes. I had her sprites all done too so I got as far as placing various characters in the Town and you could run around and go into Trog's and into the Mayor's office and once you got the raft you could sail past death on the shore there to Amiria's tower for one of the dungeon levels and uh... stuff like that. I never finished it and there's really no way to view it unless you were to come over and I dredged up the old files on my PC to run it. =/
...
Wait! I know! I can shoot a video of it with my phone! I'll link that in a bit here. Yay!

Re: Favorite Playgrounder
It does make one feel that way, doesn't it? Or at least I feel that way. In a couple of ways. For one it reminds me of making games with my son when he was very very little sitting on my lap and we'd make worlds together. Also it makes me long for good old 8-bit games and such. Plus, of course, the old old days of the Town. Good times, all.
Anyway, as promised, here's a look at The Town, 8-bit style. Linky.
Anyhow to... er... bring this back on topic, Townies are some of my favs. >>;

I think it's fair to say this thread is now divided into people who wish they were there, people who were, and liars.
