The Magister Immaterial observed the two unclean followers of the Lord of Flies, the large terminator-clad heretek now on the floor after the cracking impact of the missile. It seemed to have been quite an inopportune time for a field to overload. I would expect a heretek to keep better quality fields. Qaeviir himself had obtained a rather rare piece of near-archeotech in a displacer field. A client of his had refused to pay what he owed in souls for the Magister's services, assumably out of ignorance, and thus mysteriously wound up dead -- the field one of the items missing from the possessions of the dead trader.

On the other hand, the disgusting Astartes seemed to have a better quality field that was able to absorb a shot which sounded like it came from a sniper behind the barricade infront of the bridge. The boltgun the horrid nurgleim was firing seemed rather ineffective. Hanging on his back he had some kind of heavy weaponry, assumably plasma judging by the design. Why is he not using that weapon? the Magister thought, genuinely curious. "Is not that. Plasma weapon. On your back. Better suited for a siege?" he spoke up, asking the follower of the Lord of Flies as he pointed to his back with his staff, hoping he would hear him.

"We aren't going to make any headway here. There are too many, and too little cover along the way. If we must fight them, let us fake a retreat, then ambush the inevitable pursuers."

Watching the Heretek fall, Vul sighs inwardly. If I must I must. He draws his autocannon and moves beside the Nurglite Marine, maximizing his cover.

Keeping as low as she can, Alicia crouches behind the reavers' defences, waiting for her sight to return. Someone was going to pay for this.

The two terminators hove into view. One creeping out from beside the hunched Nepyths and the other still smoking with a great gouge in the right arm plating as it rises from behind the barricades.

Nepyths cracks the trigger guards on the massive plasma cannon - the barrel about the same diameter as a human head - before setting huge weapon to maximal power. Red warning runes flickering and activating as steam and smoke exhuded from the machine before a vast gout of seething rolling plasma that hurtles down the corridor before a micro-sun explodes and gives life to itself behind the barricade. Part of St Drusus melting away as the sounds of a scream become a molten rattle as the man toting the missile launcher and a few of his nearby friends are conusmed utterly by the plasma fire...

The return fire intensifies - hellgun shots, bolt rounds and worse flickering down the corridor at a high rate. Both terminators and Nepyths attracting their attention...

The hail of fire brutal and unrelenting and freakishly accurate as the enemies of chaos channle their fury upon those that resemble the fallen astartes!

[Emperor Ing]

Firing the great plasma weapon leaves Nephthys vulnerable. He's still not sure how he's lasted this long unscathed. At the very least, the partially vaporized missile launcher user as well as those surrounding him falling down will reduce the magnitude of resistance, even marginally so. The Heavy Bolter sweeps the area. A few shots going wide, but one managing to graze his shield, detonating harmlessly. Nephthys can't help but notice that even if he didn't have the forcefield, the bolter round would have missed regardless. Hellgun-wielding soldiers also take shots at him. One piercing his shield but doing little more than create another minor wound. Nothing that would adversely affect the marine in any way but enough for Father Nurgle to gift with infection. The second shot enjoys the same fate as the heavy bolter round, dissipating harmlessly into red light.

The worst case scenario seems to be playing out. Warning runes and the barrel venting out plumes of plasma are indicative of a plasma gun that's going to explode. Fortunately the Plague Marine knew to use the more refined variant of plasma that never overheats. However in it's stead the intense heat loosens corroded components. Ducking totally behind cover, the Marine attempts the rites to clear his weapon. Which generally involves knocking the weapon around until he's confident the parts are back in place.

Vul smiles tightly as his faithful armor comes through for him yet again, the insignificant attacks of his foes pattering off like rain.

He glances at the man with the heavy bolter, deciding to kill him first.

"Your puny little toy is pathetic. Here, let me show you a real weapon." Vul says as he fires his autocannon.

The Magister Immaterial saw the barrage of heavy fire coming in from the imperial siege barricade and was glad he was on the side lines for now. It's not like he'd do much good out in the open being a target anyway. Though at this time he was not aware of the Gift the Changer had graced him with during the voyage -- the power of Unremarkability. It was a rather strange mutation, if you could call it that, as it hides away anything that would be percieved as out of the ordinary -- like mutations themselves. Qaeviir knew of this particular Gift, though he did not know now that he was gifted with it. He was bound to find out soon enough, and when he does, he would most definately be thrilled. Appearances are one of the most important things for someone from Q'Sal, where those who suffer from noticable mutations are sacrificed for the sake of keeping up appearences. Then what better form of mutation is there to conceal any such mutations you'd have?

He wondered how much that plasma blast had done. Or how many more were needed to let them advance. He could do nothing from here, and it seemed the psychically gifted among the imperials could neither. It was best to make sure.

Standing up, Mortia is once again barraged by a hail of fire, some of which happened to scratch her armor. These damn humans were damaging one of her most lovingly crafted pieces of equipment. She had spent three pathetic human lifetimes making this armor, and she was going to burn in the void before would let them mar it without recompense.

THe return fire is less than effective as Nepyths ducks back into cover and purges the plasma vents on his cannon. THe reaper autocannon on Vul's arm begins to chew through the armourplas barricades before tearing the legs, arms and head off the poor guard behind as his frail human body cannot hold up to the tank destroying cannon rounds.

The combi-bolter on Mortia's arm chewing up 3 of the troopers as they try to move from one point of the barricade to another. The toxic rounds ripping through flesh and bone as the men literally dissolve into semi-molten piles of ichor.

Hell gun fire and bolt rounds sear back at the pair of terminators before a new figure leans around the corner - a great flare of psychic energy emanates out from an unseen psyker- a vast dome of glittering energy shielding the troops and ducked down troopers from harm.

Vul grits his teeth in pain as several shots pierce his armor. His advanced physiology quickly stems the wounds, but the anger remains, even as he invokes a spell of protection for himself. He then fires his cannon at the man with the hellgun foolish enough to shoot him.

The smell of burning flesh wafting past her, Alicia's fury grew. This was humiliating - the blindness, the helplessness. Even when this blindness wore off, no doubt the astartes would have made little dent in the imperial dogs. It was quite infuriating, seeing such artifacts go to waste on them. Cowards wearing terminator armour.

[Unbeknownst]

Those human had just put another hole in her armor. She very much wished she had something to burn them with, but all she had was her bolter, so she fired that instead.

The carnage intensifies as the reavers up their rate of fire, leaning over their barricades and loosing long streams of bullets and las fire at the opposing barricades.

Even as that happens the acolytes move to strike, the massive autocannon rounds just missing on the elites pinned down behind the overturned tramcar and the combi bolter of the heretek being deflected by the gleaming Dome of Force protecting the bulk of the defenders.

None of that mattered to the glowing ball of superheated plasma that left a gash in the deckplating and smoke rising from the remnants of the central part of the barricade...

The return fire is slackening heavily now as several defenders pull out of view. Barked orders you can't make out scattering some remaining ones. Even so the remaining defenders still lay down heavy and sustained las fire. As do the 5 guards still pinned by themselves by the tram.

Qaeviir did not see the impact, but judging from the distant sound, it must have done quite some damage. It was not often "mundane" weaponry impressed, but that barely-contained plasma was quite a sight to behold.

The return fire seemed to have subsided as well, nothing seemed to do much at all to the towering Astartes. Perhaps this is an opportune time to advance? The reavers were still cowardly and letting the Astartes do all the work they had failed to do themselves. They had little excuse to hide behind these beings now, with most of the enemies taken out. Not that the Magister expected them to do much good offensively, he mostly wanted some kind of shield or distraction for his own advancement.

The features of his mimic mask subtly shifted as he observed the reavers all sculking behind cover. He spoke up, high enough to be sure the reavers all could hear him through the incoming and leaving weapons fire. "What will your captain do. If he finds out you were all hiding behind cover instead of advancing and breaking their position. Letting the guests of his ship handle it all? Would he reward you or would he punish you? I'm sure it's not the former." The words leaving his mouth were as subtle as one would expect when someone of the Lord of Lies threatened you. It was likely they did not even understand that it was an intimidation. As long as they were swayed, the Magister Immaterial did not care.

[Emperor Ing]

The burst of blue fire roaring like the fury of an angry star is not slowed even the slightest by the trifling of psykers. It explodes in a such a fury, reducing a sniper to cauterized gibs and those surrounding him into obliterated parodies of the human form. The consequences of this fury, although mere seconds, they are seconds that must be suffered to give the Emperor's slaves time to continue their existance.

For the moment, Nephthys takes total cover, a red warning rune informing him that the weapon must pool enough plasma in immediate reserve to fire a shot. Excess heat pluming out through vents. Nothing dangerous, but a standard safety procedure.

[Henry the 57th]

Vul curses in irritation as the little man with the audacity to shoot him dodges his return fire. "Damned mortal. He won't escape this battle." he vows under his breath.

He glances at Qaeviir's efforts with the reavers and gives the slightest nod of approval. Finally he makes himself useful.

Finally, Vul looks to the rapidly-shrinking horde of men with hellguns. Not particularly dangerous to him, but it never hurts to be sure. Shrugging, he flicks his weapon to semi-automatic and holds the trigger.

THe hellfire rounds tear down another of the defenders even as the massive barking roar of the autocannon cuts loose tearing down parts of the barricade even as the scant few remaining men avoid the heavy firepower.

Most of the reavers pay no heed to the psyker - his presence quite and unassuming, even as he threatens them. Some however, those nearest to him begin calling for blades. The slow scraping and buzzing and mono- and chain weapons being readied being matched by an increase in the tempo of the fire being laid down - fire that is rewarded as one of the 5 troopers in front of the barricades sticks his head up too far and has his face torn to shreds by a burst of fire.

Even as that happens a lot of the fire is absorbed by the glimmering dome of force but you can hear orders being barked and the number of defenders slackening as some appear to be pulling back.

The 4 remaining defenders - or 2 of them at least by their small tram car have a stoic look on their face as they release aimed fire at the terminators hoping for a lucky hit against the hulking brutes.

However this does not deter him, he instead switches it to firing at maximum power once again, launcing it to hit the last thing he saw: One lone, unfortunate guard close to a blind cooridor in the T-Junction.

With the thick fog and smoke rolling in the corridor even the minature sun exploding at the far end of the corridor is muted slightly and the toxic bolt rounds and explosive cannon rounds all go wide of their marks...

Amidst the clouds of smoke you can see all 4 of the remaining troopers turn and flee towards their barrier, all 4 just diving over the barricade and tumbling out of sight.

Vul gestures at the reavers. "There. The way is open. Go and take the bridge. And be sure to arm yourselves with the hellguns of the enemy dead."

Vul allows the reavers to go on ahead into the teeth of enemy guns, watching carefully to see where the enemy fire comes from. On the way down the corridor, he inserts a fresh clip into his autocannon.

The Magister was a little intruiged now that they could advance towards the bridge, curious about what kind of psychic powers the imperials were able to bear. He had heard of "radical" Inquisitors, those flirting with more chaos-aligned methods and powers. If this was one of those, perhaps it would be easier to have it be useful to the Great Conspirator -- though he doubted that'd be possible with the bloodthirsty companions he now kept. They all seemed to want the Inquisitor's head on a spike. The best method then was assumably to claim it for himself somehow, before someone else could.

As he walked forward, at a rather slow pace due to the hulking terminators, he tried to detect the positions of the imperial psykers and any active psychic signatures as to be better prepared for some sort of ambush. It was not an impossibility as they have had time to prepare the area for such things.

Hearing the familiar sound of plasma venting and the mechanics within the plasma cannon replenish its reserves. Just as planned. Using the smoke as cover, The Plague Marine makes a run forward through the smoke, and takes shelter from enemy fire along one of the protrusions along the walls.

Blinking as her sight returned, Alicia surveyed the battlefield. Finally the wretched cowards had abandoned their cover. The smoke and mass of reavers should make the perfect distraction...

Vaulting over the makeshift barracades, Alicia began to sprint towards the Imperial defences. At last there was blood for her to spill.

[Unbeknownst]

Mortia began steadily marching forward. Everyone would probably pass her anyway. There was a drawback to being stuck in the collossal piece of metal.

[DrK]

Hopping forward in leaps and bounds. Diving prone and ducking between the ribs of the large corridor the reavers leap over the barricade and run forward. Long streams of las fire and autogun fire shredding and assailing the now abandoned barricades at the far end.

Nepyths, Alicia and the Magister are able to race forward keeping pace with the Reavers as the terminators lumber slowly up behind them. What takes a mere 19 seconds for a power armoured marine a 2 minutes march for a terminator.

The magister casts about with his spychic senses detecting the 3 string prescences within the nearby vicinity. All 3 within a hundred metres though hard to place nearby with all of the anguish and pain from the wounded and dying.

As Nepyths and Alicia join the reavers at the leading edge of the charge they burst through the smoke clouds still seeing no enemies and striding over the dead that line the barricade, many bodies molten sludge and a charcol burn from the plasma fire; others just blown into tiny shreds. Streaks of blood leading to the left and right under the chipped statue of Drusus where the wounded have retreated. To the left and right the corridor - ornate with the concluding passages of the Book of Justice written in 1ft high gold leaf leads some 20m before reaching massive sealed bulkhead doors. Heavy security panels blinking red and the couble headed aquilla large on the 6m wide, 3m high bulkhead. Its clear they have retreated back onto the bridge...

Despite the added protection, Nephthys has had a distaste for Terminator Armor. He can see himself eventually using it one of these days but he finds the mobility lost in the terminator armor to be too much of a drawback. Point in case being the sorcerer and the heretek being unable to keep pace.

Seeing the bulkhead he looks towards the reavers, giving out one simple instruction.
