With the two soldiers stunned, Anton closes on the nearest, fangs and claws rending as he attempts to pull the man to the floor and savage him mercilessly.

    Ahkmathi Sek, Elven Conjurist

Inside the hut, Ahkmathi cast a spell that hopefully would make the guards easier targets. However, before he could help Anton and Stvari handle them, explosions sounded from outside, quickly followed by screams of pain and surprise. Spinning, Ahkmathi stepped out from the hut, closing the door behind him. Peering at the horrific scene, the wizard shook his head incredulously What in the unholy Library of the Damned is she doing ...?

Pushing aside his frustration at the impatience of Oghash, he cast a cloud of hallucinogenic smoke that should help, but the majority of guards that remained simply advanced forward, weapons at the ready as they moved to protect the priest. Shaking his head, he gauged the distance and thought about the best option to wreck havoc upon the Mitrans.

Stepping away from the door, closing it behind him, he slipped a hand inside his robes and waited for a moment. Soon Oghash would engage with her roaring rage. Soon and Anton and Stvari would emerge from the building victorious. But for now, the mage elected to hold his hand for a moment, looking for his opportunity.

At the alchemists house the 2 blinded guards are easy prey for the dwarf and dragon. Stavri kicks out the legs from the two men felling both of them and stamping upon them both breaking bones. Moments later the savage blue dragon arrives and tears both prone blind men into shreds of wet flesh

When you include the blind and prone it helps balance the appalling attack rolls

Outside in the road the two guards look up as the massive bloodrager charges out. One of the guards screaming as he is hewed in half. Ahkmathi hangs back near the door, sage eyes watching the carnage as he marshals his own power.

By the road the two men in the fog come running out, both screaming oaths to the light before one chokes up blood as Oghash’s huge axe outreaches his halberd and shatters his skull. The other lunges at Oghash, joined by the other who had guards Father Donnigan

Dahaki bursts through the door behind Stvari, the large dragon wedging into and then bursting through the doorframe in a cloud of splinters without slowing. With only three enemies still in the fight, Dahaki sprints towards the nearest one to join in the slaughter.

Scenario 2 - Enemy is further away then 40' but within the 30' range of Grease - Dahaki moves 40' closer, then casts Grease so that the 10' square overlaps at least one enemy and doesn't threaten his allies. Preference goes to hitting the Cleric. Reflex save to avoid falling is DC15.

Scenario 3 - Enemies are too far away - Dahaki moves twice (up to 80') and gets in range of the enemies. He moves adjacent to the priest if possible, and otherwise to flank the guard Oghash is attacking so she gets the flanking bonus.

    Ahkmathi Sek, Elven Conjurist

The woods had devolved into mass chaos, and while Ahkmathi would normally savor any opportunity to wreak havoc upon the Mitrans, he would have preferred a more controlled fight. Of course, there were several ways to control a battle, and a giant berserker certainly helped cordon their enemies. What will you do next, priest? What tricks do you have up your sleeve? And how do I mitigate your pitiful efforts?

With his companions all physically engaged, Ahkmathi felt comfortable pushing forward to support. As he moved up and to the side, he swept his gaze around the woods, looking for anyone who might be observing the battle before he focused back on the fight. Once he was closer, he called upon one of his lesser spells, the distaste on his face clear to anyone close enough to see. Two small skulls, glowing red appeared, flying towards the priest unerringly. He hated to resort to such simplistic methods, but sometimes one needed a scalpel, sometimes one needed a hammer.

And between the orc, the dragon, the dwarf and his spell, Ahkmathi had several.

The holy father grunts in pain as magic missiles of dark force thud into him. Even as that happens Stavri and Dahaki burst out of the hut, both blood splattered. Stavri races towards the guards, cleric and towering ogre sized raging orc whilst Dahaki pauses and summons a slick of dark oil that sends the Priest toppling and slip sliding to the ground in a flailing heap of cloth, limbs and cries of worry. The two guards rapidly become one guard as Oghash cleaves one in half and steps within reach of the flailing prone priest.

The last guard looks at Oghash and looks at Stavri and then back the priest and closes his eyes in a moment of prayer, "Mitara shelter my soul..." as he stabs up at Oghash rather than fleeing. The priest rolls onto his back, a hand throwing a glowing silver spear of pure light towards Oghash before he scrambles up to his feet allowing the maddened orc to chop down at him (assuming she survives the spear of purity)

"HIS DEATH WILL BE YOUR SHELTER!" she finishes angrily, her joyous madness hindered by the holy magic's touch.

    Ahkmathi Sek, Elven Conjurist

The battle continues to be fairly one-sided, but with Oghash standing against the combined support of the priest, she looked ready to drop. Ahkmathi considered the situation for a moment. On the one hand, our Dark Lord admires strength and sacrifice. On the other hand, He values intellect and the excising of those unworthy. One the third hand, I might never have a better chance to rid myself of a potential thorn in my plans.

It would take nothing but to release his spell and let the remaining guard attack. None would blame him … not when the orc’s own impetuousness is as largely to blame for her predicament. Besides, the Dark Lord had seen fit to offer the 9th Knot a substitute.

But by the fourth, fifth and sixth hands, I … value her gifts. She has ambition, strength, and a touch of the arcane he found intriguing. And thus far, she had been loyal to a fault. Nay, she had earned the right to see this through .

Ahkmathi continued to advance, wearing the visage of Caldwin as he closed the distance. Now that he was closer, it was a simple thing to toss a bomb onto the body of the prone priest, his control so great, the explosion left his companions untouched.

Round 4 - Advance 30', toss a bomb. Ranged touch - (1d20+6)[22], Damage - (2d6+4)[10] (splash damage to any remaining guards nearby 6 fire.

Dahaki lets out a hissing chuckle as the fat foolish priest slips and windmills his arms before going down like a particularly well-filled sack of cutlery. The hiss continues as Oghash takes the opportunity to hack into him with her greataxe, sprays of blood joined by the roar of flames as Ahkmathi Sek produces a bomb from somewhere and with a negligent toss, lands it right on the priest’s head as the fat man tries to get to his feet. Bloodlust pounding in his heart, the dragon leaps through the flames at his targets, a reptilian roar erupting from his mouth, even as the flames distort and curl around his form under the elf’s mastery.

As the good Father rises there is a sickening crunch and tearing sound as the axe hews off his left arm. With a great scream of pain Donnigan manages to hold his nerve and just manages to use his armour to deflect the orc'c counterswing. Its enough to save him from Oghash but leaves him blind to the bomb sailing in from Ahkmathi that explodes beside him in a pillar of flame and sends fragments of the priest scattered over a wide area. The last guard barely has time to register this before with the draconic strength surging in them Dahaki crashes into the guard barreling him to the ground and proceeds to rip him limb from limb.

The last guard, still swooning in the euphoric mist barely registers the slaughter of his companions or the charnel yard he stands in. His last thoughts are ooh look at the pretty swirls" before his killed with a savage blow o the back of the head... The "heroes" can feel proud as they stand in the rapidly thinning smoke amidst the dead guards. A full patrol and Father Donnigan lying dead and maimed by the knots' actions.

A dozen fine well crafted halberds and burnished sets of chainmail (and some 88gp in loose change) are collected from the dead soldiers whilst Donnigan is slightly richer in pickings with a finely wrought mace and a well made (if now battered) breastplate under his robes. Dahaki approaches Oghash as the battle ends. "Well fought, Fiendclaw. You live up to your name. Will you accept the healing of the Nine Hells? It is not without pain."

((Assuming Oghash is in agreement, Dahaki casts Infernal Healing on her - given we're done with combat, Fast Healing 1 for 1 minute = +10 HP))

The dragon is dyed red with the blood of soldiers and uses his spell-granted strength to help assemble the slaughtered patrol in a mound. In an idle moment he uses [Mage Hand] to lift the priest's prayer book and idly flip through it in case it held something more useful than the religious ramblings of mortal gnats.

"A shame that my magic isn't strong enough yet. I'd love to raise these and send them back to their comrades. But waiting for an undead to animate naturally is a waste of our time."

    Ahkmathi Sek, Elven Conjurist

With the soldiers slaughtered, Ahkmathi glanced around for a moment, his eyes straining for sounds of panic or terror nearby. As the 'dragon' offered praises and perused the group, the wizard was more concerned with the threat of discovery and the real reason they were here. Turning to Stvari, he nodded back at the hut. "We still have a small window to complete the ritual, yes? We should finish the deed quickly, least simply chance rob us of our opportunity."

To Oghash and Dahaki, he nods to the bodies. "The ritual awaits, but we should take a care to hide the bounty of your wrath. Bring the bodies and equipment to the hut ... perhaps they will add weight to our machinations. Please do not eat the priest ... he still has uses.

Dahaki, you spoke of reanimating the dead ... while such power may be beyond you currently, do you, or you Stvari, possess the ability to question the dead? I have a few queries for our dearly departed father. I would also be interested if you find anything of importance in your reading."
The last was said with a nod towards the prayer book the dragon-man was perusing.

Before returning to the hut, Ahkmathi reached down to recover the keys. Likely they would allow entry into the church, but perhaps they would provide access to the keep. Once inside, the wizard pulled free the manuscripts to awaken the golem, focusing internally on the preparations as he began to read.

OOC - Nicely done. Ahkmathi will take the keys. Suggest we pull the bodies out of the open and work on doing this ceremony to animate and bind the golem to us. As the resident arrogant wizard who will rarely be distracted with physical combat, Ahkmathi will recommend binding the golem to himself, but if he can add more he will add Stvari. He will be reluctant to add Dahaki as a newcomer and Oghash (due to her brashness).

We should certainly hide the bodies and try to mask the scorch marks and blood stains as best we can. Maybe someone can find a deer or other animal that we can set up with the remains of a camp fire and spit that might derail any immediate suspicions of folks using this trail (although I got the impression it was pretty much just the Alchemist that used it).

Stvari pulls to a sop in surprise as priest chunks litter the walkway. Just before Oghash can murder the final guard (??), he jumps in between her and him. "Friend, the clergyman was supposed to fuel our monster in the hut. It's a shame to reduce the event to this chattel, but desperate times call for desperate measures."

"Did you forget already? There will be plenty to send at the village. Oghash's displays are wondrous, but I can't wait to see the results from a monster that literally can't feel pain."

He unceremoniously clubs the dazed guard, and catches him to make sure he survives (for now). Allowing his disguise to melt away, Stvari drags the final guard by main force into the late alchemist's hut, and begins undoing the bindings of the now deceased Caldwin.

In a moment the battle is over, all but one dead, and that one led like a lamb to the slaughter (literally). Oghash appears to literally deflate as the magic enlarging her is dismissed and her blood-fueled fury spent, leaving her breathing heavily, bleeding and bruised.

Oghash flinches at both the name 'Fiendclaw' and the suggestion of painful magic, but grimaces and allows the spell to be cast on her. When it heals her instead of hurting she looks suspiciously at her newest companion and asks, "Why did you say it would hurt? I smell...brimstone and...sulfur...and blood," her stomach rumbles, "but your spell didn't pain me..."

Oghash nods and gets to work, dragging the bodies to the hut. She does look at the priest with unveiled hunger, but restrains herself and instead begins eating the remains of one of the soldiers. The burned flesh appears to satisfy her otherwise insatiable appetite and a bit of her edge is smoothed, at least for now.

The blue dragon's tongue flickers and tastes the air in serpentine fashion at Oghash's words, reptilian pupils narrowing and expanding. "Quite strange. My test subjects when I first learned the spell whimpered and screamed quite amusingly. The feel of their flesh moving and regrowing in the fashion of Devils quite unmanned them. Or perhaps it was the gut wound that Anton inflicted. Ultimately the result is beneficial, of course - one of the few sources of Arcane healing available, in fact." Seeing Oghash's interest waning, the dragon lapses into silence while the two move the bodies, using his strong fangs to drag the burnt bodies of soldiers from Oghash's ambush alongside the half-orc woman.

Only once Oghash had sated her hunger did the dragon return to her words in Orcish. Their split mind had debated the issue. For the vicious dragon, her discomfort in her given name was a source of petty enjoyment, an irritant to be poked and prodded. The practical human suppressed that impulse, for unlike his chaotic counterpart, he saw no gain in sowing strife within this new association. It was a fact to be stored and remembered, but Oghash's trust was far more valuable then a passing amusement.

The dragon spoke to her in Orcish.

Oghash's growled, orcish words ring with emotions - rage, hatred, religious passion, drive, and unsatisfiable hunger. There is an insanity behind them that has taken deep root as she seems to have embraced being a literal monster in the cause of something greater than herself.

After several breaths she looks at her companion with an expression that was difficult to read. "Your...dragon...form(?) is powerful. I never heard them scream, you killed them so fast. Well done," she says, looking the strange creature in the eye. "Teach me the name you wish us to use...please." When she's done speaking it becomes clear that Oghash is feeling something she hasn't before - a sort of kinship - and that even she doesn't know how to handle it.

Once I was a mighty blue, nearing the age where I could claim the title of wyrm. I built a lair under the shifting sands by a great oasis, and those who worshipped me and sought protection under my wings built a great city above my home. My enemies were cast down by my plots and my might, perishing under fang, claw and breath.”

As the anti heroes chat amicably the bodies are dragged into cover. A deer is butchered and spread over the bloodied road and the ground cleared of burned stuff as much as possible. It’s clear something has happened but enough to not make it too obvious.

The inside of the hut is a charnel yard of body parts and corpses. But the golem stands ready to be powered up… a guard, still unconscious and dazed ready to be sacrificed as part of the initiation.

    Ritual to switch it on:
Expend magic (depending on the spell a lot gives you +1 /level to the skill check
Option: Sacrifice: gives you +4 bonus
Option: Unholy: Channel negative energy to give it +1d6 unholy damage and healed by inflict spells

    Ahkmathi Sek, Elven Conjurist

As the others brought the bodies in, Ahkmathi finished his reading then set aside the books and notes, certain he had memorized the information sufficiently to enact the ritual. The others chatted amongst themselves, adding comments in a few different languages, but the wizard ignored them for now. He focused inwardly, meditating on the task at hand as he visualized the hulking construct bowing to his will. After a few moments, he opened his eyes and moved to stand over the table. He glanced over at the others, nodding to the golem before speaking. "The books there will allow you to follow along and offer any prayers to the Dark One, as you please. Stvari, I will signal you when we reach the point of the sacrifice and as well when I will require your prayers. This is a complex ritual, but unless someone or something interrupts my binding, this should not be challenging."

Turning back to the body, Ahkmathi summoned the energies of a transmutive spell to energize the Awakening. Then he nodded to the dwarf, starting to intone the words of the ritual, while ministering to various oils and compounds across the creature's motionless form. With the death of the guard, he could feel the energy of the sacrifice and he captured with his will, bending it to the animation of the automaton.

"Designed by the science of alchemy, energized by the power of the arcane, blessed by the sacrifices to the Dark Lord, and brought to life by the sheer force of will, arise, slayer of our enemies! Arise, avatar of our wrath! Arise, instrument of destruction!

Stvari makes no effort to hid his attention at Oghash and Dhaka's conversation. He blinks twice in surprise at the word uttered after much deliberation. With a brief chortle, he comments, "That's surprisingly similar to the root from which the Dwarven word for power comes." Smirking, he looks (significantly) up at the azure figure. "I know you didn't ask me, but I think it suits you."

Several moments later, the profane monk nods in acknowledgement of Ahkmathi's words. "I would perform the ritual myself, but I'm likelier than you to bugger it all up." He smirks, perhaps at the thought of the sheer reckless destruction that would wreak, before forcing his attention to the matter at hand. "It will not be without pain," Stvari warns, once again smirking that strange smirk. "But," he continues, also much benefit. I will follow your words, and offer the unholy energies in their due time.

He stands beside the guardsman, visibly eager to fulfill the ritual, and murmurs quietly his own divine supplications as Ahkmathi begins. Almost immediately he begins to calmly abuse the bound, hopeless man. With strokes that might be mistaken as loving from far enough away, he simply causes pain after pain, slowly growing more severe as the ritual continues.

He seems perhaps disappointed when the man dies, but moments later Ahkmathi signals him again.

"Yes, bathe anew in the purest agony! Xon Kuthon, make your presence known!" Twisting his spiked chain into his own arm, Stvari thrusts his bloody arm upward, calling down a sudden pulse of dark energies (((2d6)[8] negative energy damage)).

In twisted extasy, the Dwarf watches with uncannily keen and terrifyingly sane eyes as the Elf cries out the final words.

    Before the Ritual
”Itrproinhelk, lighting stone in the common tongue. As Stvari says, Itrpro is lightning – a source of power, something the dragons shared with the dwarves long ago… or perhaps the other way around, for dwarves are clever in their control of the world around them.

When lightning strikes the desert sands, it fuses those grains into a stone, fulgurite. Impurities in the sand can introduce colors and patterns, and a dragon can breath lightning for far longer then a simple bolt of lightning. I would amuse myself by creating art in this fashion, and onto my favored minions I would gift pieces. It is… a fond memory.”

He bows his head to Stvari’s words. ”I can feel the lightning begin to rise once more within me. And then our enemies will feel the power that is my name.”

    The ritual begins
As the ritual begins, Dahak moves to a position across from Ahkmathi Set, feeling the rising arcane energies he seizes those threads that escape the elf’s control and feeds them back into the ritual. Twinned voices rise from the gestalt, speaking a variety of tongues as he joins the others in offering prayers to dark deities for the ritual’s success.

”Asmodeus, in your name, let it rise!”

The two roar as one as the divine blessing of Xon Kuthon wash across the supplicants, accepting the pain as the price of power.

The arcane set-up pulses at the trio of evil doers (Oghash more or less a bystander to this type) channel magical and ritual power into the shell of flesh and muscle that poor Cadwin had assembled. With a crackle of power the unholy power provided by Stavri mixes with Dahaki and Ahkmathis' powers and the blood spilled from the unfortunate guard and with a lurching stumble the flesh golem rises! Its massive muscular form twitches as it turns to stare at Ahkmathi, a muttered gasping rasp "Master...."

    what do you do now?

From her position in the back Oghash watches in awe and disgust as the golem rises and acknowledges Ahkmathi. "Wow..." she says, awkwardly filling the silence after the climactic moment. Then she takes a moment to watch the construct for several moments. "It isn't even breathing - is it alive? Or something else?"

Stvari grins wickedly, eyes twinkling with visions of savage violence and blood. "Very much something else," he almost purrs. "It is beautiful. The very image of purest violence." In zealous adoration, the Dwarf turns to Ahkmathi with newfound respect.

"Oh, these fool Mitrans," he chuckles. "They have no idea what they have wrought by their opposition to the Dark Prince and his allies!" With visible effort, Stvari regains composure, eager as he is to unleash this newfound power against the nearby town.

"What else do we need to do to prepare for the coming doom?" he asks, primarily of Ahkmathi. An eager gleam in his eye, he adds, "The sooner we can let him loose, the better!"
