Re: Kneenibble's Knack for Knightly Knickers: a Knell for Random Banter #184
Heh.
I worked just as hard as I needed to, and not an iota more.
Except I did take a few extra classes. But in my time, History was actually fun. Plus my teachers were pretty chill. As long as I could demonstrate I knew what they were talking about, they let me read my books in class.Awesome fremetar by wxdruid.

Damn brother demanding I get off my computer at nine thirty so he can have eight hours sleep.
What time does he need to get up at?!?!
And it's doubly annoying, because I was drawing a lion dormant and I need to adjust the background to better match it...
Also, I was going to draw a picture of extreme adorableness...

Mooncat: Too much work. Seriously. Cut down. Less work done at a higher standard is 100% better than lots of work at barely a passing grade.

Re: Kneenibble's Knack for Knightly Knickers: a Knell for Random Banter #184
Thanks.
I suppose I could come up with some reasons for why you try, but I think you need something reassuring right now, not factual...
*reads following posts*
Okay, I think you're in way too many classes for your own good. Proactivity and ambition are all good traits on today's labour market, but what good is finishing high school one year earlier if doing so leaves you but a shivering husk. Striving to work harder is admirable, but you must know your limitations as well. And it doesn't matter if you can do all your homework in 4 hours, if it stresses you to the point of crying, something isn't right. Especially if it's a recurring topic (you speak quite a lot of all you're homework).
I kind of know this feeling, not because I'm a music addict, but because I sometimes need music to drown out noisy brothers while doing homework. It's a tricky balance, because listening to music makes me unfocused, even if I only restrict me to purely instrumental songs, but if I keep the volume low enough, I can get the most out of it without hurting my own concentration all too much. I hope you can do something similar.
ION:
Today I've seen Hans Rosling berate the moderator (Fredrik Lindström) for asking him what made him make Gapminder ("Do I look like a programmer to you"), Norwegian's CEO Bjřrn Kjos make jokes half of us only understood half of, but laughed at anyway (because we thing Norwegians speak funny), a young entrepreneur speak of the world in terms of software, and a lot more. A day well spent in my opinion.
Also, today's rose goes to the reticent bicycle mechanic who let me borrow a wrench to fix my bike when the nuts had loosend and threatened to belate my journey to the entire discourse, despite the fact that his shop hadn't opened yet. I had mariginals over my ears, so I would be on time anyway, but this way I didn't have to dump my bike, and could get myself a really good seat close to the scene.Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

I have to admit, that's the least sisterly hug I've seen that wasn't... creepy.
How on earth do you not hate one another?

I'm really not sure what you mean by that...
I don't think the word "hate" is even in my sister's vocabulary. Seriously, she's pretty much all sunshine and bubblegum. I'm the stereotypical annoying little brother, which means I'm affectionately bothersome and she loves me anyway.Last edited by Dimonite; 2012-11-07 at 03:54 PM.

It's not like a hug that one would expect from siblings in my experience, not even the kind that are modeled upon Jaime and Cersei Lannister.

Re: Kneenibble's Knack for Knightly Knickers: a Knell for Random Banter #184
I hug enthusiastically, (I once actually accidentally knocked her over by hugging) and she doesn't weigh much.
Not exactly... she's not all enthusiastic make-everyone-happy, but she's never really sad or grumpy. At all. Ever. Despite my best efforts to annoy, the worst she'll do is use her "big sister" voice on me, which is the exact same voice that she uses on preschoolers (she's studying to be a preschool/kindergarten teacher, and works with little kids all the time).Quotes!

Thanks y'all. I'm just replyng to ones that need a response, but thanks to all of you who make me feel cared for liek y'all do. <hugsback>
I''m not at a barely passing grade. The only class without an A is the stupid computer class, and that's a B.
I wasn't being stressed out to the point of crying by the schoolwork, I was being completely depressed about the social **** that I didn't go into. Finishing high school a year earlier is already guaranteed, I skipped a grade. The only thing I'm doing that isn't just advanced for my year is taking the next year's math class. And I speak quite a lot about all my homework because I don't really have much else in my life I can remember. Things seem to fade in and out a lot.
Not really. quieter just means I strain to hear it more.
I'm not wearing myself to the bone by my work, I only even started talking about that becuase someone asked. What's killing me is the stress over everyone thinking I'm insane, and all the social crap that I hate.

EVERYONE takes the next years math class.
I hate social crap. Why I decided I wont try and date anyone unless it literally falls in my lap. (What? naah, AT's experience has had no effect on meeeee...)
Moonie... is you a people? If so, you insane. Way people work. Some people just disguise it better, but then they get worse grades and spend less time actually learning ****. Except for the scarily overachieving-and-also-attractive guy/girl. But they aren't people.

Re: Kneenibble's Knack for Knightly Knickers: a Knell for Random Banter #184
Okay, good to hear it's not as bad as the first impression I got. Perhaps it's a bit like how I whenever I mention hurting myself a bit accidently make it sound as if I've nearly killed myself. Talk about anything bad sufficently much and everyone will think it's terrible to the point of world-shattering, I suppose...

Re: Kneenibble's Knack for Knightly Knickers: a Knell for Random Banter #184
Thanks.
No...
Nothing to do with what I was saying. It just appeared Castaras was under the impression I was almost failing, and I'm not. As much as I hate imperfect grades, I can't say that I'm literally barely passing right now.
No they don't.
I... don't even understand these sentences. What in the Nine Hells are you talking about?
Oh, things are that bad, don't get me wrong. It feels like I'm falling apart slowly and I'm probably diagnosable with clinical depression by this point.
However, it's not because of the school load, which everyone immediately thought of for some reason.Spoiler: This signature is a historical relic from a long-ago time of regular forum activity.Aww man! Even all the witty self referencing sigs are gone now!
