This is a small thing but is anyone else having difficulty with the GC rss feed? Mine keeps missing updates, seemingly at random.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Methinks someone at the court was a little to paranoid about robot revolution.
...
Wait, don't the robots run their own production? Why would they make the next generation horrible at keeping secrets and with an obvious power off button?Last edited by Squark; 2013-01-14 at 08:54 AM.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Why wouldn't they put it there? It's a secret after all, so who could possibly know it's their weakness?
Also, you cannot give your creation a greater awareness than you yourself possess. The robots are bad at keeping secrecy because they are built by other robots who are bad at secrecy.Witty sig here nosey, aren't ya?

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Remember, Robots think that shouting "Stop!" actually requires the criminal in question to stop. They cannot differentiate between "Cannot Do" and "Not Allowed To Do".
They are apparently aware of the concept of lying, but they think "What would I believe", so they put a big sign that says "No Robots Here".

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
At least to an extent, it's a "copy of a copy." Each generation of robots is a watered down version of the last BECAUSE they design themselves. I'm sure if we had to design our own children, rather than letting genetics and experience do most of the work, we'd have the same problem.
That's why Kat means what she means to them. It's a chance to undo some design drift, or at least move UPWARD as a society for a change.Last edited by Imgran; 2013-01-14 at 02:48 PM.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Wow, I have been through the archives a lot of times, but before I checked today I was sure that the button was something Tom had just added and that we hadn't seen previously. But no, she really did press the button to turn him on. I've somehow missed not only the fact that Robot's got a button on his head, but that she was pressing it in panel 3. That's kind of sad.

Tom's humor with the signs from the werehouse sort of matches this one here. He's rather consistent actually.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Can the robots see Etheric!Kat?
Actually, has Annie looked at her in the ether? You'd think she couldn't avoid it, but you'd also think she'd have mentioned it.

What Zimmy sees isn't really the Ether, though, is it?
He fears his fate too much, and his reward is small, who will not put it to the touch, to win or lose it all.

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
If I were to look at a cow through a piece of orange glass, I'd see an orange and black cow. You could be looking at that same cow and not see anything unusual because you lack the required perspective to see it my way. If you had that, you'd be me.
What Zimmy sees is not necessarily true or visible to others. No one else has that particular etheric... "talent" I guess I'd call it.(curse?)Witty sig here nosey, aren't ya?

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
I hope - I REALLY hope - Kat asks the logical question at this point; namely "What do you guys mean, THE Angel? Why do you call me an angel, anyway?" Up until now she's just been accepting it as some robotic quirk, but she needs to get to the root of this.
Also, it should be interesting to see what she has to do to prove her angelicness. And I hope we find out what rumors and disinformation Robot was spreading before...

Re: Gunnerkrigg Court 3: Mystery Solved!
Yes, but does that mean the robots record the actual art externally and don't get their memories updated?
THIS COULD BE CRITICAL INFORMATION!

Truly, he is the member of the family that got all of the self-control. His cousins Coyote and Ysengrin are not able to contain their emotions like that(mania and rage, respectively).
What? Annie has never looked like that. That's a picture of a female-shaped S13, look at the eyes.Witty sig here nosey, aren't ya?
