Weird is kinda like Phantasmal Killer, a spell in which the target is killed by an illusionary monster, but it can affect more than one target, and it's a ninth-level spell.

Shadow Evocation imitates an Evocation spell, only it does less damage. In this case, he imitated Lightning Bolt.

Very nice, some good flashy effects there. They'd better hope Aldran is as badass as he makes out, else they're in trouble!

    very very nice!
Now Aldran can show off and save the day.

As much as I love anti-HEROES, lemme say some words of caution: You have a big difference in the power level of the protagonists. Kaal, Keriss and Lana (but only because of being a vampire) are at about the same power level. My estimation (which may be wrong of course) is Keriss > Kaal > Lana, although with a bit of luck and the right circumstances Lana could also beat Keriss. Aldran however is completely out of their league. What could turn into a problem is the fact that enemies which are challenging to the rest, are a joke for Aldran and enemies that are challenging to Aldran are beyond the capabilities of the rest. The 'Aldran always saves the day' turn of events could become too predictable when used too often.

Of course I could be wrong.

    Keep up the good work!

Looks like regular lightning, a lot of black outward glow, then remove the actual lightning bolt.

If I do stuff like that, I make an outline of lightning, copy, paste, make it bigger, blur it, place the original on top, and use the "difference" tool to cut the original lightning shape into it.

No it's not, Kaal's a ghost, so force damage is the only thing guarenteed to work on him. Kaal's also an Illusionist, so as proven before he knows all the tricks for beating illusions. So Finx is deprived of his main method (illusions) against Kaal, and if he uses a different damage dealing spell it might not work, there arn't that many force-damage spells, and Finx may not known them. Maximized Magic Missle is actually a reasonable solution for this case, take a rather similar situation where a lich fought an incorporal enemy.

This does bring up an interesting subject...

Can ghosts go into minus hitpoints and unconciousness?

    Can ghosts hit -10 hp?

    And then:

How can ghosts die when they are already dead?

Well, they're undead, so they hit 0 HP and are destroyed. Fortunately Ghosts have the special clause of having some special circumstance to be fulfilled before they stop coming back.

Yup, Ghosts, overlooked as they often are, are very much like Lichs.

It's pretty simple. In Photoshop, open the blending options of the layer in question, and turn the fill opacity down. Set the outer glow to be black, and the blend mode to Normal. Then just play around with the spread and size of the outer glow to get the right effect.

I dunno if that's the best way of getting it done, but it's the way I do it.

While Phantasmal Killer might do the job, Weird has a higher save DC as a 9th level spell, which is important since it allows 2 saves.
I think he actually used Weird on everyone. I mean, it doesnt change anything if its made on one person or two so why woudnt he do it on Aldran? After all, Aldran could still roll a natural 1. So it didnt work on Kaal and Lana for obvious reason but...how come Aldran wasnt affected? Of course, he would have probably made that will save but it seems like the spell didnt work at all not that he just resisted the spell...does that mean Aldran is an undead or just something else that cant be affected by mind-affecting magic? He is supposed to be dead after all.
