Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Valance glances at the knight and then cuts the womens cloak into a crude, bloody, breach cloth and puts it on the man. "Thats all your getting. And remember, at the moment your life is worth nothing to me. If you so much as irritate me I will kill you and be done with it. For all I know your lieing about that treasure. So don't irritate me. Oh, and your voice irritates me. Nod your head if you understand."
Turning to the Kobold Valance says "My friend with the bow there will shoot an arrow into your back if the man attempts to run or if you irritate me. So if he tries to do anything that you don't think I would like you are to trip him."
He then leads them over to his horse and get's on, tying the rope fixed to the mans neck to the horses saddle and holding the one tied to his feat.
To the rest of the party he says "Let's get back to the ship and the camp."

"that would sound so much more fear inspiring if you didnt have the voice of a girl." he growls.
"well, inspect it!" Falwell says and holds up the staff.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Dresil will take the rod, and inspect it as he saddles up, as well as throwing a Detect Magic spell around the kobold, the corpses, and the man, just in case anything was forgotten.
If we can get our hands on an Identify scroll this will be much simpler, but by chance I may decipher what it does.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Davhid had to smile a little bit, although, he made the smile with teeth, just for intimidation purposes. He was really smiling, however, becaue an Elf had well, almost praised his skill in archery.
Keeping prisoners was a grisly task, but, Valance seemed like a man who could do it. And Davhid had excecuted a few people in his time, but, Valance's method of Intimidation was a little distasteful.
Still, a success is a success.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Once they reach the ship Valance says "Yes, were fine and the mission was a success. As for these, they are prisoners."
Valance removes the ropes and reattaches the manacles like he had them in the beginning. He then says to the captain "Hang this man by the manacles from the top of the mast, at least 10 feet above the deck. And keep a guard on him. Wrap a chain around the mast as at about 4 feet in height and attack this manacle to it as well. Oh, and tie the kobolds hands to said chain. They can be fed and watered once we are back in the kings camp and have time to properly deal with them."
He heads off to the Captains cabin and says "We will be in the cabin, anyone who attempts to enter will be killed. It's only 3 hours to the city so it shouldn't be an inconvenience, but its the easiest place to secure the artifact we were sent to retrieve."
Once in the cabin he starts carefully goign over al lteh loot from the enemies, examining it.

"sacrebleu." the captain says to the other adventurers "hang him from se MAST? that is not safe. no." he waves some men to him "lock them up in the prison cell. and station two guards. COME! MON AMIS! let us celebrate your victory in my cabin! vine and food, oui!?"
examining what he looted, he dosnt learn much more than when he looted it.

Valance glances at the Captain and says "I don't care about his safety. But if it's not safe for the ship then put him in the cell, but leave the manacles on. As for food and drink, very well. My companions may want something."

"i did not care for his safety either, mon ami. but se boat is a tight spot. we cannot have prisoners floating around on the mast and whatnot, oui? we have se cells for a reason." he motions the men to drag the prisoners belowdeck "dont you worry! i'll have my best men guarding. NOW LETS EAT!"
and now I will sleep!

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
"I'll have to decline. Duty dictates that I must remain with the prisoner, to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid, like try to kill himself." He inclines his head to Valance "Although, with him, I suppose just talking would be a way of getting yourself killed.
"In any case, I have my own food in my pack. I'll eat some of that, and I'll let you have my share of the feast."
If I were crew on this ship, I'd start a mutiny, right now. The Captain doesn't seem to do anything except eat...And wine? On a ship? Is he serious?
Davhid follows the guards and the prisoner down to the galley.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
The staff is brimming with dark magic... that much I can say. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.
Dresil says as he takes Valance aside, then points toward the potions.
If you'd like, I can try seeing what those are as well.
When he hears the captain mention food he smiles.
I think I will take you up on that offer, I am starved.

Valance smiles and says "Yeah, see if you can figure it out. It would be nice to know if the man was honest. And I could use one if he was. That hobgoblin clipped my shoulder. I'll be with Davhid. Don't let the Captain touch that staff."
He then heads off after Davhid.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Dresil will give two back to Valance, saying they are CCW potions.
Would you mind if I kept one for myself?
He would then comply with whatever Valance says, then find some place to get some shut eye.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
After talking with Davhid for a bit Valance heads back to the cabin and after hearing that the potions are cure critical wounds potions and Dresil's question says "Take it. Although that thing is worth a good twenty-eight pounds of gold, so you might want to be careful with it."
Valance puts the two other potions in his belt pouch and then says "I'm going to rest a bit. Wake me when we get to port."

and because of the edit ...
later the human leans to the bars, singing "buuur-ning staaa-aarfire. high in the sky...hummhumm..." and the kobold hangs whit one hand halfway out.

and with a click, the door suddenly swings open. "SMOKE!" the kobold yelps and a thick fog flows out from his body obscuring vision.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
SpoilerThey should still be in their manacles.
Valance awakes with a start at the Kobolds yelp and whacks the bard before saying "Falwell, once I'm out of here use the table to barricade the door. You and the bard defend the staff. I'll deal with this."
He then runs out of the cabin, drawing his daggers as he goes, and towards the cells. As he runs he shouts out to the sailors "Grab weapons and be prepared to repel borders." the sailors also can faintly here him grumbling "I knew I should have killed him, its what I get for sparing the knights sensibilities. I'm way to nice."

the first roll was for unlocking the manacles. i reckon masterwork manacles have good locks.
walking down towards the prison cells he suddenly spots the kobold "EEP! other way! OTHER WAY!" he barks and run backward.Last edited by Shademan; 2008-08-09 at 05:14 PM.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
SpoilerHe needs to make 3 checks to free both him and the man. Each is a full round action. He then needs to make one to open the prison cell door. And a 27 isn't enough to open a good lock (DC 30). He also takes a -2 circumstance penalty for not having a masterwork tool.
And both Davhid and the 2 guards get to make AoO's against both of them. They also have a minimum of 24 seconds to prepare. Now throw in that the man is at best at 1-2 HP.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Davhid picks up his bow and stands up and notches another arrow. As the kobold runs backwards from him.
"You, and you." he adds to the man "You'd better get back in your cells before I perforate you. That means, fill you with arrows. You two don't have any information that we need, and so far, all's you've been is annoying, the only reason I'm keeping you alive is because the articles of war say that I should."
Davhid then grins wickedly, showing a lot of teeth. "Of course, now you're resisting arrest. So I'm allowed to kill you now..."
SpoilerIntimidate: (1d20-1)[12]
If that doesn't work, my readied action is to Rapid Shot the kobold. Since I can't run 20ft.
