Re: Number of Character Appearances V
Oh, and I vote that the costumes should count. Nale wasn't trying to get people to believe that he was really Bizarro, but then again, Belkar also wasn't trying to get people to believe that his bloody self-portrait was really him, either. It's still a representation.
The Joker doesn't get an appearance from Hinjo in Therkla's fantasy, though, because Hinjo wasn't dressed as the Joker, but as the very similar character "Hinjoker". Likewise, Larry Gardener isn't an appearance for Harry Potter, and Frudu isn't an appearance for Frodo Baggins.Time travels in divers paces with divers persons.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
I thought we never counted corpses...I seem to recall it coming up when Roy was dead.
Costumes don't count. From the FAQ:
Q. What does not count as an "Other Interesting Alteration"?
A. We don't treat corpses, changes in age, or costuming as interesting alterations.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
With this strip, Roy is no longer the only character who has been in 50% of the strips. Of course, this may change again as soon as next strip, depending on how we switch scenes.
I won a thread. Am I pathetic to list that in my signture? Yes. Of course I am.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
I'm iffy enough on the "disguises" rule as it is, but I really don't think fancy dress should count as an appearance for the actual character. We've never counted in anything like Thog and Elan's airship costumes as separate characters, and it'd be a nightmare starting from scracth to make sure we got them all. Without any proof that Bizarro is an actual person and not a work of fiction in OotS-world, he definitely shouldn't go on the list.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
Huh. And Mog's listed as well; never noticed those before.
We probably need to come to some sort of decision about this then. I contend those two should be struck off the list rather than starting to count them all in.
Although, that said, those two costumes were employed as disguises rather than just for fun.Last edited by Nimrod's Son; 2013-08-29 at 11:42 AM.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
Okay, weird coincidence here, but I've just noticed that the list include characters called Pepe and Penelope, and they happen to be side-by-side!

PC: Excuse me, what?
DM: I said, roll for initiative. They like their cheese really ripe in these parts. They have the ooze type.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
Mostly likely a velociraptor, although like in Jurassic Park they're somewhat bigger than their real-life counterparts.
The barbed devil appears on both pages too; he's just barely visible in the final panel.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
I'd call it a Raptor, myself. It's not clear which species of dinosaur it is, but the fact that it's a raptor is at least evident.

Re: Number of Character Appearances V
I know that, but pop culture at large doesn't. In any case, I don't believe even Deinonychus was big enough to be used as a mount for humans.
...Although that's a better idea, to be honest.
By the rules of the thread it should be included, as it appears on both pages of a multi-page strip.Last edited by Nimrod's Son; 2013-09-05 at 02:17 PM.
