Re: Total War: 2126 (IC)
The UK to USC:
Spoiler
Long-term thinking is pretty important, really. We'll have more advanced technology in a few centuries, as well. Just starting the process early, while still using it to gain immediate economic benefit, would suit our needs just fine.
But we can concentrate on that later, once we have attained more efficient methods.
The British engineers who were working on our space station created several possible designs for beam-based propulsion systems. Actually the satellites you might've noticed that are destroying the Hegemony's communications and spy satellites above Boston are prototypes of this technology, repurposed hastily for the military endeavour. They won't be that effective, but it's more of a shock value for now. Regardless, the actual purpose of these systems are for propulsion, either for solar-sail craft or for gas engines. Since the design-work is done, any economic help for creating them would be useful.

We might be interested in helping fund such a propulsion system. We will have further information on just how much funding would be available for such a thing after our next quarterly report.

To the North American Hegemony
SpoilerYou are quite possibly correct. And if we were another country we might be interested. However we see no need to pursue international acclaim. And while you may not have not noticed, embroiled as you are in war, but South America has its own conflict which is drawing the majority of our attention at this time anyway.

To NAA:
SpoilerAccording to what Mistral said about my orbital craft being reasonable extrapolations, I do indeed have some forces left in orbit that can start targeting enemy satellites.
To The Lunar Empire:
SpoilerDo you really feel it's best to insist on the current government of the Hegemony stepping down now, rather than waiting until things have settled down? While what you say about present actions not absolving them of past crimes is true, destroying the entire existing power structure while they're rebuilding from a war and trying to institute other reforms hardly seems like it's going to be very conducive to making sure things change properly, or at all, for that matter, and that the civilians displaced by the war are able to return to their homes.

Turn 5: Spring 2128
“Move move move! Move your shiny metal arse, perrico!” The shout rose from the sergeant, completely unrecognizable in ABC kit. The clouds of gas from the Grim’s damnable pets clung to everything, and it had only been the foresight of the forward pickets that had let them gear up in time. No one knew what kind of poison the Grim had hidden within, and no one wanted to open their helmets to find out. After their lieutenant had caught an unlucky artillery shell with his teeth, the sergeant had taken control of the company. It was those Utopian and Grim forces they had to watch out for, and they made up the bulk of forces in this theater.
“Up yours, Vasquez!” He shouted back, and though he couldn’t see through the darkened plastic of her helmet, he knew that the woman was grinning back. “Where’s the harbor?” In what was left of Cambridge, one ruined building looked much like another.
“That way!” She spun him around to face through a pile of wreckage, and slapped him hard on the back, knocking him forward. “Now get moving, before those Utopians send you a one-way ticket to paradise.”
He ran like he had never run before, occasionally pausing to take a shot at some unlucky soldier who had crossed his path. When the sea finally came into sight through the clouds of roiling gas, he almost stopped to kiss the Earth. Cuban ships continued to fire inland at targets behind him, and the landing craft, its front bay opened for egress, looked like nothing so much as the gates to tomorrow.

Varunas Press Release
The construction that has been noticed on major news media has drawn a great deal of attention. We would like to clarify for everyone what we are doing and to invite the scientific community to participate. The construction is a distributed telescope array composed of neutrino detectors. We are using it to finally make detailed observations of the internal structure of the sun. Already our calibration tests have produced extraordinary data which will likely be the basis of the next generation of fusion reactors. Many, many thanks to azuyomi244 for the avatar.

"Breaking news from Project Earth. The Global Health Program, with the aid of the Southern Federation, has completed its research. Their new system, labelled the 'HeartSeed', can accurately tell a person the best diet and exercise regime based on their own unique anatomy. We turn to Dr. Fatwa, head researcher."
The man is frail and small and old, a far cry from a healthy body. Still, tears can be seen underneath his eyes, behind his large, thick, round glasses. "Thank you Oni. With the Southern Federation's support, we were able to make massive breakthroughs and with the additional support from Project Earth leaders, were able to do so quickly. The road to a healthy humanity has only just begun. We have given the people knowledge, but it is up to them to make the most of it."
"Thank you Doctor. You have earned the respect and admiration of us all, and you have gained a well earned retirement."
Southern Federation: Esp 0
SpoilerThank you for your support, the Global Health Program is complete. For your contributions, we feel the following is ample payment...
-Free access to the HeartSeed blueprints
-Free access to any two further peaceful technology created by Project Earth
-The rights to trade the HeartSeed to any nation in the Western Hemisphere for (- economy)
To the World: The HeartSeed
The HeartSeed is a testing system to evaluate what an individual's unique body needs for maximum efficiency. Project Earth will trade this technology for the cost of (- economy), and the signed committment not to further trade the technology to respect Project Earth's ownership of the HeartSeed technology. All funds gained from this trade will go directly into boosting Project Earth's economy and technology to allow for even more programs to be done.

Amurian Technocracy to Mongolia [ESP ++++]
Spoiler
''We would like to propose to you to sign a number of treaties to promote friendship with China and Bengal. It is understandable, that your relations with China might still be a little cool, after decades of animosity, but it's time to leave the past behind and embrace the present. An alliance will secure your borders for the future and ensure continued economic prosperity. And we of Amurian Technocracy will make sure, your rights and freedoms are respected.''
Amurian Technocracy to Shan Warlords [PM]
Spoiler
[To GM: I'll spend 1 ESP to organize a private meeting with key Shan Warlords].
''We would like to discuss with you your current situation. The times are changing, Carthage's crusade against Warlord states, Chinese expansionism, Indochina's military build-up and Cobra's operations. A population uprising like in Tibetan Empire may be an opening for your many enemies to take you over or an alliance of your enemies. In this changing world, can you hope to survive without changing yourself?''
''We would like to propose you to become a new nation. There is one thing you are good at - fighting, and we can help you capitalize on it. You can become a legitimate Private Military Corporation. We can invest a considerable amount of funds and enact a PR campaign to improve your image. As long as your troops are sufficiently disciplined and professional, something which we can help with, by providing military instructors, you'd be able to make a fortune in today's world. There is a major war in North America, South America and another one here in Asia. We do not think, those will be the last. You have a perfect opportunity here.''
To GM
Spoiler
I'm proposing 14-16 stat investment to the Shan Warlords, mostly to improve their Morale and REP.
Amurian Technocracy to Indochina [ESP ++++]
Spoiler
''We realize, that for a long time you have suffered under the Shan Warlord raids. We would like to inform you, that we are attempting a diplomatic solution. If our effort fails, you can have our assurances, you'll have our full support in protecting you against their raids.''
''We would also like to propose to you to improve your relations with China and Bengal. We are conducting a similar negotiations with Mongolia. We believe that an alliance of Democratic nations would permanently stabilize the region and end secure the freedom of people, against actions of tyrants and religious fanatics.''
Amurian Technocracy

Hypereux: Station 9
To Project Earth (ESP-D 3)
Spoiler
We would be happy to join in the space transit program. With the completion of the launch loop in Quebec and the conclusion of certain other research projects, we have a sufficient quantity of unassigned budget and researchers to devote to such a monumental task. We also have the blueprints for the Quebec Launch Loop, which may prove useful--the facility, while being used as a launch loop currently, is in fact a partial orbital ring. If we expanded the ring, or built other sections elsewhere, we could put a space elevator anywhere on the planet that we desired.

Re: Total War: 2126 (IC)
UK to PSA:
Spoiler
We are asking you to please listen to your own people, withdraw your troops from helping Hegemony. They still haven't done anything for their people, in fact the civilians in liberated Newfoundland voted to join Britain willingly the moment their oppressors were thrown out. And your presence just results in bloodshed and destruction that not only hurts the civilians in the area but also drives a wedge between our people and yours, who by all accounts should be friends and allies due to historical, cultural and political reasons.
UK to Station 9 (PM)
Spoiler
Continuing on the discussion from before, how willing are you now? We have halved the army of the Hegemony, are currently negotiating an end to the PSA involvement in the war (unless they join our side) and so the only real opponent left is Utopia Project.
UK to Utopia Project
Spoiler
As you can see, our allies are committed to this war and we are superior in strength, logistics and positioning. We have the moral high ground in the eyes of the world, so you can count on no outside support, and the PSA is soon to leave the war. We have halved the effective strength of the Hegemony army, doubled our own and now surround Hegemony from three sides - your own forces are all that remains to prevent the corrupt government of the Hegemony from unconditional surrender. It is now up to you to end this war, to prevent further death and destruction, and all you have to do is withdraw.
If you do not wish said destruction to visit your lands once Hegemony falls, you should leave them to their fate. If you do this, that'll be it - there will be no repercussions for the damages your troops have caused, nor any attacks over the border to your territory.
If you do not take this deal as offered right now, there is no other option for us than to consider you an enemy that has to be totally defeated, just like Hegemony.

Shan Warlords to Amurian Technocracy (PM)
Spoiler"An interesting offer. You know, though, we've received interesting offers before. The last one got half of our men shot to pieces. Give us guns and a free hand, and we might consider it."
Mongolia to Amurian Technocracy
Spoiler"We would be willing to sign these treaties. We did not trust them at first, but China has stuck by their word."
Indochina to Amurian Technocracy
Spoiler"What kind of diplomatic solution are you considering? They are brutes and reprobates, and we assure you, any promises they make cannot be trusted. We are willing to consider an alliance against them, however."
To Zemalac
SpoilerOOC: Just a warning, but while a partial orbital ring is a launch loop, but that doesn't mean it can be easily expanded to a full orbital ring. For one thing, the orbital characteristics of a complete orbital ring are completely different in that it actually is in orbit; a launch loop is grounded to keep it intact and standing in one place, where a complete ring wouldn't need to (and shouldn't) be because its mass and rotation counterbalances itself, and its orbital precession is manipulated to keep the elevator (which the launch loop doesn't have at all) over one place.
PSA to UK

Iran
Spoiler"Things did not go as well as we had hoped, but I think the warlords have been dealt with to the point where the job can be finished this turn. Carthage will devote a portion of its military to see that the coup takes place successfully, but the rest of our resources can be contributed towards working with China against Turkestan."
PM - GM Question:
SpoilerFor the last PM, could I have my last question answered? Quoting it here for ease:
So Mistral, just to make sure I have it absolutely clear for next EOT. I have 50% of the warlord stats. So they must have +++ left. Probably ++ MIL and + ESP. Because I'm at the threshold, I can use outside stats to aid in a total takeover without penalty. So if I used the +++ co-opted stats and, say, +++++ MIL I could probably succeed because it would be 7 MIL versus ++ plus some espionage on one side and economy on the other.
China, Iran, Amurian Technocracy
Spoiler"My friends, I thank you for your assistance against the warlords. Our cooperation will pay off in the reduction of one more threat to Asia. I believe our resources will be able to complete the project in this next season.
Could I request a private conference to discuss the Turkestan situation? It is time for us to return the favor.
Dravida [PM-Level]
Spoiler(Continuing from last turn, now with our REP investment to improve diplomatic relations)
"Now that you have had time to consider what we have to say, we would like to know your stance on the matters in India. We expect the warlord state to fall within the year, but the situation with the Princely Union still needs to be dealt with. Dravida's support would be very much appreciated and it would help to secure India from the threat of such a hostile foe who desires to unify India against its will."
Project Earth, African Cradle
Spoiler"No worries. Our engineers and technicians were able to continue making progress on the work the African Cradle started. We will be continuing our investment this turn. Carthage looks forward to when the station is fully functional and can be used for the betterment of the African peoples.
May I ask the status of your Environmental Revitalization project?"

Hypereux: Station 9
To UHI (ESP-D 3)
Spoiler
Excellent. We just wanted to make sure some progress was being made, as we hadn't gotten any reports recently.
Incidentally, we are planning to significantly increase our investment in the project this term, as some additional funding has recently been freed up. I realize that the most prominent mines have already been established, but with our additional funds you should be able to expand operations dramatically.
To Stichelhaar Consulting (ESP-D 3)
Spoiler
We are sorry to hear that. However, we do have another matter we would like to discuss with you. We await your representative's arrival.
PM
Spoiler
Let's get down to brass tacks: how much would it cost for us to employ your intelligence arm to help us keep an eye on the British forces in occupied Quebec? We want to be able to spot any attack coming, and deal with it appropriately.
To UK (PM)
Spoiler
We feel we must respectfully decline your offer, at least for the moment. You yourself have been the only one to achieve any measure of success in this peacekeeping mission of yours; all we have seen from the rest of your coalition is failure after failure. Frankly, we are unimpressed. While we regret the necessity of working with the Hegemony, they have yet to play us false in any of our dealings, and have shown no signs of being anything other than honest businessmen. Until we see concrete proof that working with them is, in fact, against our best interests, I do not think we can agree to your terms.
Please do not take this to mean that we are military allies of the Hegemony, however. We are simply protecting our investment in Quebec. War is not our business. Any operations of yours in the region that do not target the launch loop or S9S personnel will receive no interference from us.
We hope the unpleasant situation in America does not sour our dealings with you in other matters. Thank you for your understanding, and good day.
To Mistral
Spoiler
I didn't think that building a complete orbital ring would be easy, but I had assumed that having the plans for/having built a partial one would make it somewhat easier. Even if I can't expand the existing partial ring into a full one, does having the experience with this sort of megastructure at least give me an advantage in building a full one?

Spoiler
''Weapons and free hand? That sounds a lot like you plan to take our assistance and use it to raid your neighbours. We wouldn't be part of such arrangements.''
Amurian Technocracy to Indochina [++++]
Spoiler
''The Warlords are proving to be as difficult as you anticipated. We'll provide you assistance to end their threat. However we are concerned, that with them gone the Great Republic of Malay may try to move in and we want to avoid any potential future conflicts. Would you be interested in signing economic and defensive treaties with China, your close neighbour, to ensure continued peace in the region? We believe such arrangement would protect you and help stabilize the region.''
Amurian Technocracy to Bengal, China, Mongolia, Indochina, Iran, Carthage [++++]
Spoiler
''Greetings our friends. The Amurian Technocracy has been perfecting various techniques to increase productivity of the lands with depleted soil, lands contaminated by salt from rising ocean levels and lands affected by radiation and changing weather patterns. Our techniques have been polished and we believe we are prepared to take the next step - restoration of Asia and Middle East, conversion of deserts and steppe into fields of wheat and green forests, filled with life. We can become the main exporters of food in the world, relax the population controls and invite immigration. Not only that, but the project of such magnitude and ambition would have great effects on the population spirits and our international prestige.''
''This project will need water and nutrients to enrich the soil. At this moment we are negotiating with space nations to acquire them. We are also planning to buy and implement the Project Earth's HeartSeed technology, so that the people would receive proper nutrition, increasing the standards of living and health of our populations.''
To GM Only
Spoiler
Okay, I'd like them to contribute ECO and TEC to this project. Amurian Technocracy will put forward 7 points total, including purchase of HeartSeed for all participating nations. I'm hoping for a mixture of ECO, MOR and perhaps a bit REP boost, as standards of living climb and world watches with amazement at Asian-Middle-Eastern miracle. They are all Democracies, so I can see their politicians pretty interested in pleasing the people with something like that.
When I said Garden of Eden technology, I meant it in Fallout sense - a technology to make wastelands into productive lands, pleasant to live in. I didn't mean Garden of Eden in biblical sense of primordial paradise, untouched by man. The ''green'' implications don't really concerned me, I want productivity and comfort for population.
Amurian Technocracy to Project Earth [++++]
Spoiler
''We are interested in your HeartSeed technology. Let's talk bulk order discounts. What can you offer, if we make a large order?''
Amurian Technocracy to UHI [++++]
Spoiler
''We haven't got a response from UON about our order of water and minerals, so we'd like to approach your corporation directly. Can you deliver vast quantities of both?''

Lunar Empire Esp +++++-
SpoilerWe thank you considerably for your contributions to the Space Transit System. We believe we have the designs set to make the Space Transit System a reality.
OOC: From the EoT
A tremendous investment of resources by the Lunar Empire (8 TEC) has led to unexpected dividends. You believe you have developed an effective framework for efficient transit in Cislunar space akin to the Interplanetary Transport Network. In addition, several useful locations for potential propellant depots have been identified, which would reduce costs for vehicles transiting these locations as they no longer need to carry (and thrust) adequate fuel for the entire trip in a single go.

Amurian Technocracy
Public
We would like the Amurian Technocracy to clarify its global statement concerning buying up major world media outlets. What has the Technocracy discovered to suggest this? If this is indeed true, what can we do to assist in ensuring that the media stays free of bias.

SpoilerSpeaking mostly OOC: The deal that Project Earth is proposing is -economy for the blueprints of the HeartSeed, and then the nation can spend what resources it wants to make it help their own country. However, Project Earth is making it clear that they own the rights to the HeartSeed. In essence, they are asking that anyone who buys it promises not to become a rival seller.

To the Andean Union and Brazil (PM)
SpoilerSince our coalition appears to be winning we have a question for your consideration. How far are we going to prosecute this war? Will we simply push the Tamoachan out of South America, or will we pursue them even further?

The Grim News Network
The Grim would like to reassue the cuban people that the gas bombs droped were a form of sedative, mixed in with "Pot" bombs, to mark the occasion.
We would also like to annconce the completion of a project that every eviromentaly friendly nation will rejoice to hear! We present you with the silverworm! These biological critters are symbiotically linked to radiotrophic fungi, effectively consuming radioactive soil and storing it within themselves as a fuel source, while expelling anything that doesn’t contain enough radiation to feed off of. Growing to almost a meter long, they then reproduce and enter a state of torpir, permitting them to be removed along with the radioactive soil. We hope to deploy them to the amazons as soon as we get permisson from the local athorities.
We would also like to mention that in the next year or so, we will be devloping a new cruise line! While space may be the great frontier, and we salute those who explore its myestries, what wonders lie beneath our own worlds seas? We hope to share the wonders of the undersea realm with you all.
And on a serious note. There has been increasing volcanic activity under our western iceshelf. If the activity does not subside, we fear that the whole shelf could fall off, which, according to our estimites, would raise global sea levels by nearly 10 meters. We do not need to state the effect that would have on coastal communities. We continue to watch, and pray that it remains quiet.
And now, back to Bill Nigh the science guy.
To Project Earth
SpoilerThe Grim would be intrested in buying the heartseed.
To Austriala
SpoilerWe can begin working on the walkers, this promises to be a intresting project. We would aslo be intrested if you would like for the cruise line we're building to have a stop in the barrier reef?
To Telepath
SpoilerWe've begun work on sorting out our minds, we would be glad if we could compare notes sometime.
To the Holy Land of Tamochan
SpoilerWe have completed our silverworm project, and would be intrested if you would agree to hosting a small field test?
To the nations that have holdings in the Arctic
SpoilerWe would be wondering if we could conduct a lichen and moss survey.

Hypereux: Station 9
To Project Earth (ESP-D 3)
Spoiler
Most excellent. We will have to see how much is available in the budget for this quarter, but we will definitely be making a sizable contribution. Fast and cheap cislunar travel would improve the efficiency of pretty much every department we have.
As a side note, we are very interested in your HeartSeed technology, and would be willing to purchase it for your stated price.

Project Earth congratulates the Grim on its solution to dealing with radioactive material. We sincerely hope this creation will help undo past wrongs, and will not be necessary for the future as we move beyond nuclear weapons.

The Grim
Spoiler"We have already made significant strides in that field with a bit of progress on animal modification. However, you have the second market cornered nicely. We will continue putting resources into Mechs/Walkers,our prototypes and designs are approaching combat readiness.
We would be honored to have the great barrier reef be a stop on your cruise, and on a similar note, we have had an interesting idea we have been meaning to share with you, once we can secure a safer channel of communication. We feel research in this field can minimize the impact of invasive forces against our countries, when the significant hurdles are surpassed.
One last thing, we have a unique opportunity for you. As the possessors of the last living Panda Bears, as well as a plethora of dangerous critters, we have a genetic tool box that your technology can harness. We should definitely discuss this further if it interests you.
And has the British situation escalated into a war as on yet? Our defensive pact still stands so we will be ready to aid you when war breaks out."

UK to Project Earth:
Spoiler
If the HeartSeed is - t.Econ, we'll purchase it immediately.
In addition, how is the progress in the ERP? Our contributions haven't been very large, due to the war draining our resources, but as one of the largest economies on the planet we should be able to provide financial support once the technological solutions are worked out. We can also provide said financial support for other projects, if necessary.

Also, if you wish, we grant you permission to field test your new radiation scrubbers in the Falklands.

We thank you for your assistance. Hopefully we can cooperate on other projects later on, but right now we believe we can finish off the project on our own. The final payment will be arriving as agreed.
