    Response to the Hegemony (Public):

Mercenary, yes. We were most certainly paid for fighting you. And looked at a certain way, we did break a treaty with you. But considering that you had completely forgotten its existence until we stumbled on it in a half-forgotten section of our archives and reminded you, by which point we were already considering joining the other side, and that you did nothing at all about the attempted invasion of us by Cobra and a group of nearby warlords almost a year ago, directly after the treaty was signed, it was clear that you had no intention of upholding your side of it, which made us consider it void, and thus good only for a potential opening.

As for greed, hardly. Other than the treaty you'd already broken, you offered us nothing but your own research on psionics - which we should have gotten anyway, as per another agreement with you, which you seem to have had a convenient lapse of memory regarding - in exchange for our aid. The UK actually paid us. Wanting to get something other than assurances already proven empty in exchange for risking our people's lives is not greed.

To your charge of amorality, we say that you should learn not to make accusations that apply better to yourself. Your Hegemony is precisely that - your hegemony; your own personal power over your nation. In theory, everyone - except the apparently 'small', but never defined, slave caste; the descendants of criminals, troublesome political rivals, and other such unfortunates in addition to those who have actually done anything wrong - has some small amount of stock in the company. But you have the most, or you and the rest in power do, when taken together. Your people have just enough of an illusion of choice to be distracted by bread and circuses for a while. Especially since those who aren't end up getting their voting rights taken away - or being shot.

Finally, you call us cowards. Our forces were surrounded by your own troops, the Utopians, and the Grim, all of which had more people than we did. Yet, despite that, we attacked. And considering we won, I'd say it's more likely your own people are cowards, as had there been any true resistance, we couldn't have stood up to the sheer number of people shooting at us.

That said, as long as your operations in the region do not target the launch loop or S9S personnel, we will not interfere in any way. A word of warning, though; due to the size of the launch loop, any movement further into Quebec must unfortunately be treated as an attack on the facility. The British skirmish with our security forces six months ago was mostly caused by a misunderstanding as to the size of the installation, and we would hate for you to make the same mistake.

    The North American Hegemony

"While it seems that TELEPATH will fit in well among its new allies due to its willingness to blame Hegemony for a lack of action in events where we were given no time to react, the simple fact that they were willing to exploit an international treaty as cover for an invasion speaks volumes about their lack of morals and their sociopathic international maneuvering. While the Hegemony may have suffered from a recent breakdown in communications between our citizenry and our government, we can at least hold our heads high when in the presence of TELEPATH, for even at our worst we are not governed by turncloaks and traitors."

The Hegemony would like to extend our apologies for the turmoil your support of us has caused among your people. While we realize this war has been a terrible one, your support of sovereignty and the attempts of a government to respond to their peoples' needs marks you as a nation of honor and reason. While our initial reaction to the invasion was to turn our resources to the repulsion of Cuba, rest assured that we intend to turn the bulk of our economic resources to meeting the demands of our citizens. And while Britain may possess a cunning tongue, we hope you recognize their imperial ambitions in this matter - they have threatened to invade Utopia for their support of us, and it is clear that if the Hegemony falls it will simply be the first of many states subsumed by European empires desperate for former glories. Indeed, it would not surprise us if British agitators were behind the protests in your cities. Only by standing firm against their forces can we reclaim our destiny.

We realize you joined this conflict in order to bring freedom to what you see as an oppressed people, but we implore you to see the truth - by tying yourself to this European invasion, you subject yourself to their whims should they triumph. If the Hegemony falls, another manufactured crisis will follow, and then another, as these powers reclaim their lost empires under the guise of humanitarian aid. Russia's attempt to claim dominion over North Africa, New Rome's nuclear strike on Luna, Britain's agitation of our people to revolt - all point to a pervasive drive in these European nations to subvert and devour the powers of the new world for their own remorseless greed. Please, do not give in to their false promises, and end this pointless war between brothers.

How long after the Hegemony fell would there be another "emergency" requiring Britain's intercession in the Grim's territory? And how would the Grim repel an attack on their settlement at Innsmouth if Britain controls what was once the Hegemony? If this European coalition triumphs here, before long they will seek out other wayward colonies to bring back into their fold - it will never end. Please, for the sake of future generations, ally with us against these resurgent empires, and prevent them from once again forcing the world to bend to their whims.

    Soviet Directorate

The Ulyanovsk roared her fury out across Boston, as the fighting began to fade. The Rear Admiral, since promoted to Admiral in light of recent violence and the loss of several command ships, found himself idly chewing on the nub of a cigar as he stared at the various display screens across the aircraft carrier's bridge. Holograms lit up and fell dark in rapid succession, several monitors showing current troop movements and various situation reports as they came in. Orders on all levels were filtered and organized.

The missile ports along the supercarrier's side were almost permanently in the firing position, the reinforced caps having retracted inside of the ship's battered hull as missile after missile streaked out and into the night sky. Aircraft came and go with constant regularity, marine landing parties and teams of special forces and intelligence operatives being dispatched from the mainland. Out in the bay itself, near the landing craft, furious fighting was taking place. The Directorate military was a machine that specialized in heavy, powerful blows when needed that were delivered with lightning strikes. In a grueling, continuous war such as this, their small numbers of elite infantry and high-tech armor found themselves in grueling trench warfare.

"Send Anvil Squadron to reinforce the spearhead along West City Avenue- a leaflet bombing should be enough to dislodge the infantry they have bogging down the primary and secondary convoys." He rolled the cigar about in his mouth, "How long, tactical?"

A young ensign, one of the more promising stars from Moscow's universities, hurriedly tapped away at his screen, bringing up panel after panel. The image of the local airspace shifted, the central hologram projector instead shifting to show an orbital view. Several dozen satellites could be seen changing formation, aligning in various attack patterns, solar panels unfurling as focusing rings aimed down at the world below.

"Hammer grid is online... now!" He announced, giving a few hurried keystrokes, "Communications, green. Energy readings are within acceptable boundaries, but below desired levels. Kinetic platforms remain active. Heat sinks are functional. Ready to initiate fire support linkup with forward operating bases on your command, Admiral."

Uri smiled, a rather nasty gesture, "Communications-- What of the enemy chatter? Do they suspect what we have?"

A young woman, her hair short-trimmed and her eyes rather baggy from long hours sustained mainly by coffee, spoke up, "No, sir. They're acting according to plan."

Uri folded his legs, leaning back in his chair, "Fire all platforms according to designated targets. Deploy gunships for extraction. Keep satellite fire focused on heavy artillery and armor assets, with secondary targets being enemy infantry concentrations and garrisoned buildings."

And soon, as the Peacekeeper forces moved to regroup, fire rained down from the heavens, covering their retreat in a curtain of blinding fire and the roar of thunder.

With the completion of a couple of our programs, and the expectation to increase our research capabilities with the profits from the HeartSeed, we should be able to focus on new programs in the near future. We would be interested in hearing what ideas the Soviet Directorate have.

    Update to world powers
-Due to a massive contribution by the Lunar Empire, the Space Transit Program is near completion. All research is done. Project Earth will beging building it the network of launch sites and vehicles immediately.

-We will put a few resources to look into the situation of rising sea levels that the Amurian Technocracy has asked Project Earth to help solve. We will try to discover the viability of such a program, the best methods to acheiving success, and finding out the resources needed to complete it.

-World Peace Mission agents will be monitoring and researching the four major wars in the world to better understand the situation, and to arm the WPM with a better knowledge on how to strive for peace in these times. As always, the WPM is on contract for powers that are searching for peaceful solutions, but will not impede upon the wishes of sovereign powers.

    The United Kingdom

There's been some confusion around as to the origins and methods of the current war, confusion sown on purpose by our enemy.

While the pirate attacks were confirmed to have been the Hegemony's doing by an investigation led by Project Earth, this is not the cause of the British attack. It might be the cause of the Cuban attack, but we do not speak for Cuba. Britain only asked for compensation to all the nations harmed by the pirates, and Hegemony refused this.

However, when the people of the Hegemony heard of the actions of their government, paying and supplying pirates that brutally murdered all of their captives, the social tensions long apparent in their society broke out into rioting.

There is no evidence that anything has been done to address the concerns of the citizenry of the Hegemony, despite words to the contrary. Hegemony government claims to not have had the time to respond to these events - the social tensions have been growing for over a decade now. If you did not notice the discontent of your people before the bottles started flying, then you do not deserve to govern. The whole purpose of votes and political freedoms is to allow a system to change without forcing the people to resort to violence.

After the riots began, the Hegemony started brutally suppressing them with police and military forces resulting in several civilian casualties. The people of Hegemony begged for international support, at which point Britain pledged a number of our forces for the task. A significant number, sure, but nothing close to a real army.

In liberated and pacified Newfoundland, a vote was held as to what the people wish to do now. Among the choices were, for example, being a part of the new Hegemony with a free, democratic government, and joining Britain. They chose the latter one, and if anyone wishes to inspect the vote after the war or even call for a new one, they can feel free to do so. Britain is in America not to attack or invade, but to protect the true Hegemony, the people that live in the area, from a brutal attack by their own government that they should have been able to trust.

Do remember that more important than a war of arms is the war of words and ideas, and if us, the free nations of the world, show ourselves willing to trample the rights of our people or fight for oppressive regimes, then every ordinary citizen all over the world will regard alternate options as the better ones and trust the honeyed words of communist leaders over the harsh truth from our lips.

The propaganda spewed by Hegemony is already muddying the waters on the real issue - the addition of a force of peacekeepers from New Zealand securing and pacifying liberated regions would go a long way into showing the world that it is an international operation to stop slavery, crimes against humanity and brutal oppression, not some sort of an imperialistic invasion.

Well, frankly, the situation in the Hegemony, especially in Canada, was appalling. As you've noticed in Newfoundland, we imagine it will be easy to remind many of them of their old British heritage and get the civilians to join us. Cuba is in it for the revenge against the pirates, and they do not intend to take any land, so their invasion serves as a bogeyman to make the people of the Hegemony ask for international assistance.

The Soviets are part of the International Task Force, and joined without us even asking them to. They are supporting their Cuban brethren in spreading communist ideology, aiming to gain another useful ally in America.

So, we're trying to get the people to vote for liberal democrats or simply outright join Britain while Cubans and Soviets are trying to get them to vote communists into power - this is a war of the minds as well as arms. The British forces have liberated more territory and have 'bailed out' the Soviets and the Cubans from Boston, and the Cuban forces fought with the ITF troops, so currently we are more credible as saviours and liberators than the communists.

But the fact is, the situation in Hegemony had to change, and will change eventually - this is both justice, revenge for the piracy and, also important, a way for us to control the change that's taking place in the Hegemony towards a direction useful to us, one of an anti-communist agenda. If we left, the people would revolt on their own sooner or later and the Cubans would support them heavily, and we'd end up with a communist Hegemony. With your help in the matter, your words in the minds of Hegemony and your boots on the ground of Hegemony, we can avert this and gain in the process.

Well, what is it that you would most want. Britain is one of the strongest economies on the planet, and we're also proficient scientifically, specifically on matters concerning space. If there's a project you wish to pursue, we can help you with it. And once Hegemony loses their government, the people will be thankful of anyone who helped them, which can help trade. Then there's the fact that if Utopia does not leave the war we will probably have to force them to do so by moving forces into their nation - and who knows what the troops of the victors carry away with them? Nobody's going to count those afterwards.

    UK to CSA
    Spoiler

Indeed. The aim of our troops is to dismantle the government of the Hegemony completely, and then have the civilians decide themselves, in a series of votes, on what they wish to do - join nearby nations or form a new Hegemony on better principles, those of democracy. They will, of course, be favourable to those who helped them. In addition, if Utopia refuses to withdraw, we might have to send troops through their land to force them to relent.

Our manpower is strong enough to win this war on the ground, extra troops would just make it faster and help the people of the nation by avoiding undue destruction and bloodshed. However, what I am asking for is not really combat strength - I wish for peacekeepers, small groups of what would amount to more heavily armed policemen who would patrol behind the frontlines in liberated areas and make sure any looting is stopped and any weapons the civilians have are gathered. If you can't send a real unit, even a volunteer token force would be enough for the PR impact and any boots on the ground help lessen the suffering the civilians have to endure.

The Cubans as far as we can tell are in retreat. We hope that they would continue to stay in retreat and just leave this war altogether but that is a risky assumption. The FRA is fortifying Chicago and is unlikely to move at this time.

However we could unite our forces and launch a major push against Britain or Russia who seem to be the face of our opposition. Particularly we would like to hit Britian who has been the most aggressive. Though Russia would work as well.

Now do we know what numbers are present among the British and Russian forces and how much help did TELEPATH bring in? Also does anyone have any strategies they would like to present? As always since this is your homeland the American Hegemony has overall command.

One, we don't have any bases in the north polar region. Secondly, we're suprised that the alpine glaciers have lasted as long as they have. By the estimites, they should have gone in 2050. And, if you looked at the fossil record, the planet does have Ice ages, and what most people don't realizde is that the ice age of 10,000 years ago? It hasn't ended yet. And our last point is one that you will either ingnore or attack us for making. There are somethings that Technology can't solve without creating a even bigger problem.

Also, about conquering the world, where the point in that? If you set your self up in charge you'll become a paranoid freak who suffers crushing insecurity and can't sleep due to fear. Besides, if we conquered the joint, when the hell would we get any real work done?

    The North American Hegemony

"The Hegemony would be very interested in seeing Britain produce proof that any of our citizens perished before their invasion. The only casualties we have on record are Cuban and British citizens in the Hegemony under false identities found agitating riots. An odd discrepancy, to be sure, but we have no doubt there is a reasonable explanation. Similarly, we're sure there is a reasonable explanation for how a nation that had maintained a decades long policy of isolationism was able to mobilize an international military response to the unrest in the Hegemony before the authorities of the Hegemony itself. One might almost think Britain agitated these riots in preparation for an unprovoked invasion of our territory."

In the short term, any allies of ours would of course be included in the negotiation for reparations. However, we are sure Britain has offered you something similar, so the real question is what more can we guarantee. Aside from our history, we would suggest that maintaining the Hegemony is within your Empire's national interest. Should we repulse Britain and Russia, their ability to project their influence will be greatly reduces, allowing you increased room to maneuver within your sphere of influence. Beyond that, though, we have only to look to history to realize why Britain's triumph would be disastrous. Their vote in Newfoundland while their troops were stationed there points to a clear intent to integrate large portions of the Hegemony through similar "votes," and as in Germnay two centuries ago they will eventually find themselves unable to devour territory through false democracy. That is the moment you should be wary of, for when they desire a territory they cannot take by guile, they will take it by force. The coalition has already allied itself with your regional competitors, and we doubt the resurgent Soviets would turn down an opportunity to wipe the stain of the Russo-Japanese war from their memory.
