Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge VII
I would most definitely like to continue on.
I hope none of my comments came across as bickering. I was debating, but I'll do that with anything. I was doing it with other's builds as well, so not about me
With all due respect to Roland, I very much enjoy hearing feedback, both positive and negative. There were some things explained to me that I backed down on. A couple others, like a Trait being mistaken for a Flaw, once mentioned, was accepted as 'oops, ok'.
Perhaps could throw in a red/yellow card system if folks are too worried and Prinny thinks it worth it. Someone argues too strenuously they get a point deducted sort of thing.
I don't think it need come to that however. Knowing how this seems to put a bad light on it all we're all mature enough to back down. If a judging seems far too cruel we could again message Prinny or the judge himself so as not to mess with everyone else's enjoyment.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge VII
As I said, I'm more than willing to judge. I don't think this is the type of contest that I would enjoy participating in as full on character developement isn't my first love, but reading through the entries was a blast. Hopefully my technical knowledge will be more of a benefit on the other side of the jury box?
On that note, since someone mentioned possibly revamping the judging system, would it be worthwhile to seperate scoring into a crunch score and a fluff score? Combine the two into a composite score? I know when I was on the SAE Formula One team in college, they have a technical score made up of things like power train efficiency, suspension design, braking design, etc, and then a presentation score based on appearance, cost, performance, etc.
Maybe have mechanics broken up into: Power, Synergy, and Usage of SI
then break up characterization into: Integration, Origionality, and Usage of SI
I think that would be a fairly interesting breakdown. Just a thought.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge VII
If you refer to where I did not respond directly to Keld, it's because we already talked via PM some time ago. I felt no need to reiterate myself.
Also, wow. sofa got banned and there's tons of scrubbed's in this thread.
As for the judging, I suggest we do as Roland has asked, and simply not disclose such details. That's just me though.
Finally, concerning the score break-down recommended by Keld... eh. Personally, if this is SUCH a huge issue, I'd just add one more category called "Thematics" and be done with it. I still think it's somewhat useless, but that's just me. Prinny may do as he sees fit, being the man who makes the contest.
And hey, Prins, why not Ardent Dilettante?

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge VII
as a note about my judging ability to amphetyron, I tend to use my gut and feeling more than I should, hence why I didn't originally consider signing up for judge, because what I like ultimately favors what I choose. I only filled in because there was a call for extra judges. I also am rather shaky with the rules sometimes, I know most of them but every once and a while. I really felt this in the cancer mage one when I was judging, which is why i didn't participate later. if the time comes and a judge is required in a few days, I'll sit in, because it is kinda fun, but unless there is a need, I plan on not judging, because I feel the same way in retrospect every time I judge.
as a note about judging in general, without a specific, unbendable formula, it isn't going to be fair. sometimes, your perfect creation is going to be overthrown by the ugliest thing you've ever seen because somebody liked it.
those are my 2 cents.
on a brighter note, GOOD JOB EVERYBODY!!! Tribble, write a book.
