Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Holy crap ladies and gentlemen!!
As some of you have noticed I've been away for a while now... I was actually thinking that this thread would be dead by now.
It's nice to see that you guys could keep it alive while I was out
I'm going to update the first post (Basically the "Important" part). I'll add input requests and so on... I've noticed that some issues have already been resolved... If that is the case with your issue please PM me so I can update the main post with something like "Solved"

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
The Unforgiving (not quite what you said, but was inspired by that name on your list) was another nickname I was considering because it made sense with a certain plot-point I am planning. I may even end up using this anyway, and just use multiple nicknames.
However, for the main nickname, The Unforgiving or Unforgiveable isn't really...well, it just doesn't sound right to me as the main nickname.Last edited by Green-Shirt Q; 2010-02-22 at 03:30 PM.

I'd advise against 'Lust Warrior', but I cast a vote in favour of 'Cardinal Crimson'... or simply TERRORCOTTA.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Okay, a few things:
1:I've found my random plot point. You can delete that now
2: Comic is launched. Thread here
3: I've got a variation on Burlew's style that I need critiqued:
A few notes: Female faces will be outlined more thinly, and their bodies will be rounded rectangles. Also, how should I do the eyes?

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Looks good, though you might want to move his feet a bit to the left, it looks a bit like he should fall backward.
Otherwise it looks nice
@Q: Two minor nitpicks.
Mario's moustache looks, a bit weird to me. I think it would look more like Mario's if it was one piece and bigger on the middle and smaller at the ends instead of two pieces that makes it looks like some pieces of black paper
Then there's he Goomba, it looks like it looks in the direction it's walking but it's head is for some reason turned toward the reader instead. Given that the head is it's entire upper body that makes it look kinda funny.
But otherwise it's really really goodLast edited by Mina Kobold; 2010-02-24 at 11:19 AM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
A psion a monk a druid and a wizard go into a tavern. The monk says: "Look how OP I am, I can go in battle with no armor and not take any damage ! As long as you buff me and let me use wands to increase my power even further, consuming time during the battle, I will be invincible !". The psion druid and wizard look at each other. They decide to kill the monk, burn down the inn, and nuke the site from orbit just to be sure. Then they go kill some deities now that they got rid of the dead weight.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
There are four best friends and DnD nerds that dress up like a Psion, a Monk a Druid and a Wizard from their favourite fantasy comic book and go to a comic book convention in New York, where the author of their favourite comic book is said to arrive.
While they despretely wait in line to get his autograph, another rabbid fan comes in and kidnaps the author of the comic book before the four friends can get an autograph! The four friends chase the rabbid fan down through the crazy, dangerous streets of New York, while forgetting to change back into real life clothing, to rescue their beloved author.
While chasing the rabbid fan down, the fact that they're in fantasy clothing causes them a whole bunch of problems for them. The police try to track down the Monk because, in the costume, he looks very similar to a cult leader who recently escaped from prison. The Wizard gets mistaken for a girl because of his "dress" by the local ladykiller, and the Stud realizing his mistake sends him into a rage to kill the friends. The Druid is constantly asked by hippies to join their protest, even though he doesn't have the time.
This leads to a great, original adventure that could produce NEW jokes, NEW characters (instead of just "the lawful good leader", "the sneaky rogue" etc.), and a NEW adventure with thrilling action, humour and absolutely NOTHING about an adventuring group doing random quests for money!
But seriously. You should come up with a plot before you come up with characters. Feel free to use the one I suggested, but something tells me you won't.Last edited by Green-Shirt Q; 2010-02-25 at 07:10 AM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I haven't worked on it since everybody deemed it acceptable to look at. I do plan on making some more changes eventually, I just haven't got around to them. I figure I have enough time, since I have at least like 10 weeks before The Q's Comic Review will run out of comics to review weekly.
Thank you. It has been a story I've had rolling around in my head for a while, actually. Not quite the way I said it (I replaced the main heroes with the ones asked for) but the principle is the same.
I may end up writing this story down the road if nobody ends up using it. Not soon, since I got Smooth Moves, The Q's Comic Review, and the Upcoming Peach's Castle: A Serious Fancomic On Serious GitP I'm working on, but maybe in the not incredibly too distant future.Last edited by Green-Shirt Q; 2010-02-25 at 03:16 PM.

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
I may use it. I was thinking of your basic OoTS fancomic (fourth-wall breaks lampshades etc.) but also wanted to have cutaways to the "real world" where the Players talk to the DM about the PCs (think Bad Gods) and how stupid his sessions are (where hilarity ensues). Now this...this gave me a great idea where this happens, but the PCs are still going, and the same character development happens to them
I'll most likely do that

Re: Our Comic Lab in the Playground: An experimentation class
Combine the mouth the eyes and the eyebrows (tears optional). Or a neutral expression (optional sad eyebrows) with body language appropriate to despair. but more drastic?
EDIT: Oh! how about with the eyes close looking down?
Am I in the ballpark here?Last edited by Dvandemon; 2010-02-27 at 12:54 AM.
