Why were Kaal and Lana afraid of the mind flayers? Both of them are undead, and, as we have seen in the R.A. Salvator book exile, mind flayers suck agiasnt undead. Plus, Kaal is incorperal, meaning even if he was alive, he would be immune to getting his brain sucked out.

That's why it's funny.

Illithids are in both the Monster Manual 1 and the Expanded Psionics Handbook. There are different versions in each book; the XPH version is the official one going by the Primary Source Doctrine, but these seem to be the MM1 version going by the wizard's existance and the other one using Charm Monster instead of an augmented Psionic Charm(which wouldn't work either).

I think that the Captain is one of the guys who are after Aldran. That's why they sold that scroll to Keriss, since they knew, or at least suspected, a connection between the two.

I love ("love") the way people speculate on these things about stuff that you'll most likely find out in the next comic or two... It's like reading Lord of the Rings a few pages at a time and speculating on things like: "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if Sauruman (sp?) was a bad guy?"; "Oh no, Gandalf's dead!" "Nah, I'll bet he has some flight spell worked up." "Nah nah, he's going to die now then be resurrected later."; "I wonder what Frodo's going to do with that ring..."
Sad thing is, if LotR was released webcomic-style, people probably would be debating these sorts of things
