I'm kinda sad. I had a dream last night that I got my book.

The good news is, my copy of the book arrived on Monday! (It would've arrived on Saturday, but I had it sent to my work address, which is closed on the weekends...)
The bad news is, the book has a big "impact ding" which affects the entire upper right-hand corner! (I'm not talking just the tip of the corner, but a good inch-and-a-half! If I knew how to upload pictures here, I'd post one...)
While I appreciate that the shipping folks put the book in a padded flat-rate envelope and also put the book inside a Tyvek priority envelope inside the padded envelope, it wasn't enough to prevent damage in this instance. (I assume there is no recourse for this sort of thing, as the damage isn't severe enough to make the book unreadable, just unattractive to someone as picky as I am...? )
Myself, whenever I ship anything like this out in a padded envelope, I put some kind of reinforcement material inside the envelope to give it added rigidity/support. I might suggest in future that the packing people use a cardboard flat-rate envelope inside the padded envelope instead of the Tyvek one, seeing as how they're already taking the time to put one envelope inside the other, and the Post Office provides them free of charge...
Approximately how long does the book take to arrive once shipped? At this rate it will probably arrive while I'm on vacation...

I also live in Michigan, and mine took two days - shipped on the first, arrived on the third.

Really? That is fast, if it ships within the next few days I might get it before I leave (next Wednesday).

When I got back into Houston last night and went into the warehouse, i saw that many of the packages (750-1000) has postage printed, but were still sitting there because Tina went to the hospital before USPS could pick them up.
These are going to be redated and shipping out as soon as she's back in (Thursday). Note that she has a crew of six helping out, so it should go very quickly. We expect days to finish, but I'll update here with status if it proves otherwise.
I'll also post here (and everywhere else I can find) once pre-orders are complete and current orders are caught up.
Can Houstonians come pick their order up if it hasn't shipped yet?

Heh, that's what happened to me. I hope you fare better; I spent half the time worrying about the post office misplacing it or something. There was no need to, the book's here and in perfect shape, but it didn't make vacation enjoyable.

Wow, really? Me too!! It was about a week ago, though. I'm in UK, but my book was still in Houston as of 2 days ago

Hi all,
I received notification from Ookoodook that my book would be shipped on the 4th of August, with a tracking number.
It's now the 12th of August (NZT), and according to the USPS website, it hasn't even been shipped yet. I have sent a number of emails to ookoodook and have had no replies or even acknowledgement of my emails. Has anyone else received their packages? Does anyone know a better email address to use to get in contact with the Ookoodook? I have tried shipping.manager and ship.manager (both are referenced in the emails I received) but neither seems to get a response...? Just wondering what's going on and worried that my order may have been lost (which would suck since this is a one-off printing and the book wont be available again, I ordered as soon as it was announced to avoid any chance of missing out... )
Have any Canadians received their book yet? I'm curious to know how long it takes, so I can guess when to expect mine.
@ZombieMaster, I noticed Apegamer mentioned some packages had their postage printed before a medical emergency happened, and were not able to be picked up until some time later because of that. I have no idea if the confirmation emails for those packages were sent, but if they were then that's one possible explanation - that the tracking number hasn't showed up for you because it was picked up recently and USPS doesn't bother to scan packages for tracking very much. I'm just speculating though, I'm sure ookoodook will be able to give you a better answer when they have some free time.
I wouldn't worry too much though. I'm kind of in the same boat - I received my confirmation email on the 4th and the tracking number didn't work until I tried it today (and it only says something like "Electronic Shipping information received", nothing about where it is or anything). I'm sure we'll both get our books eventually!

Thanks guys.
I'm in the exact same situation (well maybe not exact since I live in the US). I got an email saying it would ship on the 4th. I did get an email though yesterday saying that because of the medical emergency at the warehouse that my package was one of the ones that didn't get out. My package has now been physically sent out the door. As FujinAkari said though as long as APEGames doesn't post that they're done shipping I wouldn't get worried just yet.
I have to say I'm tingling with anticipation when it comes to getting Dragon Tales. My copy's apparently still stuck somewhere in Houston but eh, international shipping is slow as a quadruplegic sloth anyway...
Best wishes to the sick person in Ookodook, and hope she'll be okay soon.
The only fear I have is that my name is misspelled. Being from the Nordic countries, my name has a lot of umlauts in it. The confirmation email actually had my name looking like something quite Teutonic, with three consonants in the end as it dropped out the umlauted letters.
Nah, just ranting... I sent an e-mail to Ookodook about it (though it has not been answered), and otherwise the address is correct so I'm not TOO worried. I've just had the misfortune of having a mailman who's as thick as a pile of lumber so I'm hoping he doesn't mess it up.
Anticipation, anticipation, anticipation...

I am in the exact same situation - my book is in Houston too, umlauts dropped - but I'm not remotely worried. It's likely just a USPS problem anyway, and their only job is to register the book and deliver it to your country.
Now I'm worried that I haven't heard anything at all regarding my preorder. Are there other people that have preordered but haven't had any sort of update on the shipping? I'm fine with waiting another week or whatever, I just hope I'm in the queue.

The same here. But I hope the package is actually not in Houston anymore, but somewhere on the ocean.
Regarding the umlauts, it may have been just a problem with the delivery notification mail, which had a 7-bit-encoding (which means it couldn't contain any special characters). But even if the real address on the package misses the umlauts, I'm confident that the letter from the customs office will reach me anyway.
Don't worry, there are still orders that haven't shipped. If you haven't received an email after I post the All Finished notice (hopefully very early next week) then we'll work through your cases on an individual basis.
Also, a surprising number of people have emails that bounce, so your book may show up without you ever seeing and email!

I got the EXACT same problem when mine arrived today. The spine has a gigantic 2 inch dent on both sides. even though it's fresh off the shelf, the condition immediately turns from "like new" to "acceptable"... I really don't like that.
Edit: Here are a couple of pics showing the problem. If that's not okay, please just delete the pics and not the whole post.
Spoiler
Note that in addition to the big dent, there are numerous smaller dents along the spine.

Yes, I really quoted myself and put it in my signature. You can't honestly say you never thought something you said was so awesome you wanted to make it into a quote and put it in your signature, can you?

Thanks for the update, that's a relief. I was starting to panic that my order had been lost and was thinking about calling you guys up, so I'm glad I checked this thread and saw that you are still working on it. Keep up the good work! :)
I keep panicking that you're going to run out, not of Dragon Tales but of two of the other books I ordered - Paladin Blues and Origin of PCs.
Same for me, I would miss Paladin blues if it runs out. Moreover I asked to merge two orders (I already had Dragon Tales pre-ordered when the special offer for Paladin Blues appeared) so there is more chances of confusion. But I have full confidence that OOTS staff will cope well with all the confusion of these hectic days.
