Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
the kobold took twenty on his own.
the prison cell had poorer quality lock.
i have allready considered the penalties.
none of them we're really close enough to attack unless they sat right in front of the cell door and not at the chairs (and table) that was on the other side of the room.
okay, you got me on that lacking lockpick. the kobold still has some manacles on him.
Davhid picks up his bow and stands up and notches another arrow. As the kobold runs backwards from him.
"You, and you." he adds to the man "You'd better get back in your cells before I perforate you. That means, fill you with arrows. You two don't have any information that we need, and so far, all's you've been is annoying, the only reason I'm keeping you alive is because the articles of war say that I should."
Davhid then grins wickedly, showing a lot of teeth. Of course, now you're resisting arrest. So I'm allowed to kill you now..."Last edited by Shademan; 2008-08-09 at 05:45 PM.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
The thing is he needs to make 4 rolls total, and each of them takes a full round action (6 seconds). And he has to free all 3 of the manacles for both of them to be able to move (thanks to how they are attached). And then, after getting the manacles off, open the cell door. The 2 guards and Davhid would have ample warning time to shoot them with arrows (and Davhid is there to do just that if they do try to escape).

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
okay then. he takes twenty on the manacles and on his sleight of hand (giving a total of 36) for hiding this from the guards.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
SpoilerHe can't take 20. Failure has consequences. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/usi...s.htm#taking20 and it would take him 2 minutes per manacle.
If you want them to have somehow managed to get free of the manacles without any of the 3 guards (1 Davhid) noticing and then somehow pick the cells lock without anyone noticing and then cast a spell, I suppose that's ok. But they will die, quickly and painfully. The man has at most 2 HP (was negative when I stabilized him), is naked, and is unarmed. The kobold has more HP but is equally unarmed. Rapid Shot means that Davhid gets to shoot at the man twice, and any hit drops him to negatives. He should only miss on pretty much a natural 1 and then has to fail to pass concealment. So for no hits your looking at him having to roll about 4 natural 1's in a row.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
lets just keep playing. all this typing confuses me and theres a movie about killer clowns on.... and its late.
DM says: they escape. DM says: he can TRY to shoot him. might be hard, considering he cant really see him.
i dont like clowns....Last edited by Shademan; 2008-08-09 at 06:21 PM.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Defend the staff, shouldn't be too hard. Dresil looks around in the room he is in to see if he can barracade the door(s) with any barrels, furiture, etc. He will then draw his sword, and wait behind one of the doors so he can catch any nasties off guard. (Staff is in my Haversack by the way, which is naturally on my back.)
Spoiler
Plus I have my manacles (The one attached to the kobolds neck) with an Amazing Lock (DC 40). FYI.
EDIT: On Clowns
Spoiler
I still need to kill Kefka.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
If the kobold is still shackled then he couldn't have freed the man, or opened the cage. So did they just not try to escape at this particular moment?

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
Um, I had him shackled to the man. And I would have shackled him to the cage, but apparently that doesn't matter. whatever.
Valance grins at the kobold and says "That was stupid of you." as he runs after him and the man. He yells behind him to the guards "Get on deck and seal all the hatches, don't open them until I give the order, me and Davhid will deal with this."
SpoilerRunning after the prisoners. I double move and then use Sudden Leap to jump the rest of the distance.

Spoiler
Listen Check:1d20+13
Fort Save for a round in the smoke: DC 15, using mind over body for a concentration check instead of fort save (1d20+13)[29]
If you fail the save (which increases by 1 for every round in the smoke) then you spend the round choking and coughing (no other actions). Fail twice in a row and take 1d6 nonlethal damage (should be enough to drop the man).

you clearly hear a loud, yet short shout of pain from somewhere on the deck.
and some sailors cursing among themselves as they start unlocking the doors/ hatches to go see what it was.Need a setting for your game? a character concept? any gaming related ideas? Davhid follows the sailors with his bow drawn, aiming between the buffoons Yeah, that's it, get in front of a man with a bow...Smart moves... Davhid wondered to himself. Thanking all the Gods that he was never drafted into the King's Navy.
SpoilerI'll remind everyone that I have Precise Shot, so idiots in my way don't give me any negatives. Just in case you try to pull a fast one. I have a readied action, if it isn't a sailor or the Captain or someone that I previously have not met who appears hostile, I Rapid Shot them.

Re: Civil war, King Erwind.
you run along with some sailors to the main deck. as you enter it you see several of the sailors there aiming crossbows at the front, where a sailor holds one of his hands over the other, trying to stop a bleeding. at first you dont notice it, but you realize that the prisoner is standing right behind the man. he whispers something to the sailor before he leaves his own knife in his back and jump into the water.
the other sailors rush forward to help their comrade the same second he is stabbed, pushing you away to get to him.Need a setting for your game? a character concept? any gaming related ideas?
