Teddy's Turbulent and Topicless Random Banter #150
Ladies and gentlemen, we're approaching area of heavy turbulence. I would reccomend you to stay in your seats and hold each other tightly. If anyone's scared, our stewards will soon bring you free hugs.
The Rules To prevent this thread from going down in a tailspin, you'd better obey these.
Spoiler
1. Spam. For the purposes of RB, one word posts are generally considered spam. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* are also be considered spam. Remember that the quality of the post's content is much better than the speed of your response.
2. This isn't the Play by Post or Town forum, nor is it the Silly Message Board Games or Structured Games forum. Please avoid continuous roleplay or mock battles and fights such as the "competition for control of the universe".
3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their own thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well. The exception to this is to bring something that is off-topic from one thread, but on-topic for RB and the subject doesn't warrant a thread of its own.
4. Don't advertise other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and brow beat people into posting in your latest brainchild.
5. Please don't post single line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."
6. Don't poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."
7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.
8. As this is a public forum, where the current topic is nicely recorded for you, and not a conversation where you could have missed the beginning, please refrain from asking something to the effect of "What's the topic?". Please take the time to read up a bit first.
9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.
10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.
11. Remember, Random Banter is not your IM client. If you want to have a back and forth discussion with just one person, look in their contact information for IM details.
12. Whenever a new thread is created, all "first post", "first page", and all posts of that nature will be deleted by the administrators. Please avoid doing this, as it is frustrating for them to deal with one-lined posts like this.
13. Double-posting is not your friend. We have edit buttons for a reason.
14. Once you have made a Random Banter thread, you must wait 50 threads before making another one.

Re: Teddy's Turbulent and Topicless Random Banter #150
Ooh yay, new thread.
And from the last thread;
My city is always prepared. Doesn't really help on the first snow storm though. It's best to stay home that day. I didn't and now my hood is bent
The city salts the road like crazy. Very hard on vehicles, but at least you won't die driving.
As much as the city is prepared, the people living here aren't. On the first snow storm there were accidents everywhere. I'm sure at least half the city was in an accident. Today we had another bout of snow and I came across a minor accident. The roads aren't even that bad, get snow tires already.

Snow? That thing that we always have in the Winter? ;p Yeah. We had some two days ago, in fact.

Damn you, New York Weather. @_@; (But at least it's not constant snow. <.<; )

Re: Teddy's Turbulent and Topicless Random Banter #150
*BOOGIE!*This thread has been Koorly-blessed.
From the last thread:
Honestly? Given the choice between contacts and no glasses at all, I'd go no glasses. My eyesight's not so bad that I'm virtually blind without them; granted I'd have trouble with reading . . .
*takes off glasses*
*squints*
Oh my goodness.
I now have trouble reading the words on my computer screen, they're rather blurry and a lighter black than they should be. That's . . . a lot worse than I remember.
*re-glasses*
So yeah. I'd have trouble reading anything on a bright screen or something far away. Or seeing anything far away with any reliability.
But as far as a play goes. Easy. A stage is only so big after all.
And they were rather foolish asking you at the dress rehearsal about de-glassing. Especially as, if I'm right, your eyesight is rather poorer than mine, so you;d need to be able to adiust to being glassesless.
Myself, I rather like the scary shiny blank glasses myself. Adds a touch of fear to your appearance.
Eeep.
I don't think I can actually wear contacts with my prescription; but the thought of anything near my eyes makes me flinch too.
Eyeliner, mascara, fingers, frecking needles being poked into my pupil when I'm fully conscious and only nine years old (or was it eight?), and the aftermath of having to use an eyedropper for about three weeks after that was bad.
Didn't want anyone else to do it for obvious reasons, so I got to almost poke myself in the eye with a pointy plastic cone. Whee.
Not freezing here, well not truly; but lots of rain and coldness here.
And to think in iust over two weeks I'll be spending an evening in a flimsy ballgown.
*mope*
ION:
Whoop!
Two essays down, the translation (as due in next Thursday) is half done (but I'm going to do the whole piece), so I've only got two essays to do.
I can do this.
Finish off the other fifty odd lines I have to do tonight. Tomorrow write up that essay. The weekend for the other essay.
Oh.
But I'm going over to Lawyer Friend's next weekend. So between next Monday and Friday I got to write up that essay too. And knowing my fits of procrastination I won't have done the Next Thursday essay until Tuesday/Wednesday.
So Thursday/Friday for the Monday essay.
Argh. And the weekend after that is the Ball, so I got to get that Monday essay done by Friday. Urgh. And I think that's 8th week too, so I have another essay due in on Thursday.
Excuse me while I go cower in a corner for a few minutes and whimper.

:o IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE TODAY!
Too bad I exhausted myself yesterday and have no energy to do yard work today. D:
Bleh. Now I'm just making excuses. ;p
Koorly: Do you need me to slaughter a lamb in sacrifice to give you strength?
Or would you prefer a different contribution? Maybe a story about said event rather than actually doing it, and how the Goddess would be utterly grossed out by the whole lamb slaughtering thing?
Or maybe you don't like mutton? Maybe a side of beef would be better?

Or you could simply admire the view while reading or doing similarly lethargic things.
Aaaaawwwww, that's so sweet. A story would be best though, not because I get grossed out over animal slaughter (I'm pretty bloodthirsty), but because it's thematically appropriate.
I'll get over it though.
Hoenstly, if I iust bothered to manage my time better I'd be much better off. Seriously.
I mean, even if I only halved my time here I'd be much better off. Can't imagine what it'd be like if I simply stopped posting. It's a tempting thought isn't it? Don't worry. I'm not going to be doing this any time soon. Or ever.
Mutton is roasted sheep.
Roast lamb is well, roasted lamb.
I'm not really a fan of either of them, and beef's only slightly better. I will however enioy any roast pork or chicken you have. Or duck. Or venison.

How long's it been? One month? Two?
I can't quite recall.
I'm frozen here. No thanks to the fact that one entire wall of my room is a window. Gorgeous, but a heat sink.

DEEREE!
Where've you been? Has uni not been kind to you this year?
I sympathise with the freezing. My feet are like ice. Stupid drafty window right in front of the desk.
And a general cold room seeing as I turn off the heating the moment I woke up (way too hot) and now it's freezing again.

I just died a little inside. I found out today that MC Chris, MC Frontalot, and Schaffer the Darklord are all coming to a local bar for an awesome concert on the 18th. What's the problem with that? That just happens to be a day I'm doing an unavoidable show for theatre at my school. Auuuuuughghghgh.

Re: Teddy's Turbulent and Topicless Random Banter #150
Che. NaNo.
'Twas tempting this year, but as you can see from the first post I made in this thread, essays are attacking me.
Ouch. But at least it's a nice view right? Mine's iust a wall. It's a nice wall sprinkled liberally with three hundred year old plus gargoyles and things. But it's also a wall.
I've tried keeping the laptop on my lap, but it never really worked out because of various reasons. Also toes are a long way away from laps.
I'm going to a white tie ball in a little over a fortnight!
All of my work this term is overloading me with . . . Biblical stuff. It's cool. Oh, and doomsday writings. And women going around beheading people and threatening to unleash entire armies upon those she views as her enemies.
Um, oh!
I've done lots of cooking this term. That was fun.

Re: Teddy's Turbulent and Topicless Random Banter #150
Well, I certainly could ahve managed without, but it's the principle of the thing. Also I'm not entirely sure if my reactions would have been quite as convincing if I couldn't properly see what I was reacting to. Oh, and the blackout might have been somewhat more problematic, and it really didn't need to be.
Thing is, if they'd mentioned it earlier and particularly thought it'd be an issue, I could've seen about maybe getting some contacts, iust for those 5 days. But less than 24 hours notice? No chance.
This sounds like a fun story! And by fun I mean traumatic.
Long enough that I've been wondering what happened to you.
Meh. Last year in Fenham, I never switched the heating on. Stuck clingfilm over my window for extra insulation, wore extra layers, and fingerless gloves to keep my hands warm while typing or writing, and avoided leaving my bedroom, or for that matter my bed, as much as possible. But never switched the heating on.
Well, hardly ever.
Changed? Um, some people left? Some people came back? Threads rose and fell as they do. The Playground continues much as it has this past age."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'
YES. THERE ALWAYS IS."

Re: Teddy's Turbulent and Topicless Random Banter #150
I was bouncing up and down in my seat, grinning like a child singing along with the original lyrics.
Fangirls. What can you do about that?
That's a good point. Especially for night vision. Mine's come down the pan for some reason lately.
I'd hate to imagine having to get to cues in the dark without glasses on.
I'm surprised I'm as normal as I am when it comes to big pointy things, my eyes or both together.
Well, if I'm not allowed white tac or post-it note 'blu tac' I sincerely doubt I'm allowed to cling film my windows. And I forgot my gloves.
I wish I could have done the 'stay in bed forever' thing though. It's so warm, and it's cold and depressing out (probably didn't help that I stayed up until seven a.m. this morning) and the bed's so inviting.
Now I want to go to bed. But it's too early.
Except I haven't eaten yet. At all. Again.
Why and how do I keep forgetting to eat?
Bathatar!
Squid bones are lies.

I'm a teenager. A uni student. A collosal ner whose main relaxing activities involve reading or various internet based things.
Yeah.
Sleep schedule.
I get that a lot too!
I'm actually working for once, or reading, or doing something more interesting than bothering to feed myself, and I iust forget.
I have rectified this error though.
Soup followed by a bowl of Tesco-branded-cheapness Weetabix.
Now all I need is dinner.
ION:
Because I was Googling some stuff earlier today that was related to my essay on this tab every time I check back here I keep misreading 'Iudith Old English poem' as 'Old English porn'.
Every time.
Why would I that doesn't even exist. Unless you count some of the more sexually explicit Riddles at least.
Or unless Google reads it to be old porn that is English in origin. Or something.
Bogdammit!
Bathatar!

Re: Teddy's Turbulent and Topicless Random Banter #150
The sausage buns WERE my dinner.
I had the bowl of cereal (with Nom yoghurt) at about 10am this morning.
Then I had the sausage buns at about 8:30pm. Now I'm contemplating finishing off the rest of the carton of milk tonight, or leave the last bit until tomorrow.
I like milk... Hmmm.. Decisions, decisions...

@^^ Rule 34.
I have been neglecting the denizens of the Playground of late. Can you wonderful people ever bring yourselves for just one noble moment to forgive me?Last edited by Fifty-Eyed Fred; 2010-11-10 at 05:50 PM.
