Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Thales successfully brings the snake the rest of the way from near-fainted to really-near-fainted, and your Pokeball quickly engulfs it in a burst of energy. It bops around a bit on the ground, but clicks shut soon enough.
SpoilerYou caught an Ekansssssssssssss!

Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Hasty

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
The cricketlike pokemon (your pokedex shortly returns info on Kricketot and Kricketune) acknowledge your presence once you sit down. It looks like the older ones tell the younger ones to try to play a song for you. They do their best, but it sounds just a bit off.
Loki is moving all around, pretty randomly. He comes close to getting in their way, but quickly drifts back toward you. It's not clear why, but you get the sense Orobas communicated with it somehow.
The Kricketunes pick up the song after a while to show the Kricketots how it's done. To everyone's surprise, Praelia starts humming along. Apparently she knows this one.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Nikolas lightly claps to the beat and smiles in appreciation, taking note of Praelia's humming but decides not to say anything until the bug Pokemon finish their tune. When the Kricketunes finally stop, he decides to broach the question, "Do you know the song? I can't say I know much about music, Pokemon music even less so."

Mordecai watched them lead a somewhat hesitant Kamoho away. Huh.
"Oh, uh...."
It felt like it was forever ago that he'd started. "Wow, it was only yesterday morning, wasn't it? Ha, it feels like a lot longer. So much has happened already!"
He then exhaled. "And tommorrow, I hope to try the roads to Orum. Phew!"Beginnings usually happen over trifles... even if it's a coincidence...

Hang in there, we'll teach the monkeys a lesso. As Nightlock cringes in pain once again curling into a ball, Leo quickly applies a potion to him. Piri Piri quickly spins around, trying to run the monkeys over again. Beula sent another blast of electricity at the Simipour, hoping to faint it.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Praelia nods. "I learned it as a child. It is a song of mourning." She walks over to the Kricketunes and bows deeply. They have a conversation in a language you do not recognize.
A few minutes later, one of the Kricketunes heads into the woods as Praelia continues to chat with the other. Soon, the Kricketune comes back with a bluish flute-like object in its hands. Praelia accepts it, bids the crickets farewell, and comes back to you as they leave.
"They wish to thank you for giving them an audience, and not--my translation is a little rusty--'encasing them in spherical containers' this day. Kthinktu, the one who just walked into the trees, wishes to give you a token of their appreciation." She hands you the flute. "The most direct translation for what they called this would be...'sleep puppetry tube' I think."
Spoiler'Tis a blue flute! (When played, all Pokemonwithin 3mon the battlefield afflicted with Sleep are cured. Use only once per day. Battle frequency. [In my experience, sound travels farther than 3m and it's possible to play a flute more than once per day.])Last edited by HZ514; 2012-10-07 at 10:43 AM.

"You don't say! That's pretty impressive then that you've already nabbed an Ostra thug. Orum, you say?"
Soon enough, the doctor has finished treating you and holds a finger up. "Wait one moment, please." He walks over to a cabinet and picks out a few things. "For the road, Officer Aumakua." He hands you a bottle of Enriched Water, a potion, and a revive. "Good luck out there."
The orderly comes and returns your pokemon to you moments later. "Here you go, Sir. Your Totodile is...feisty!"

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Your pokedex beeps and gives you information on these snakes: Ekans. The Ekans is able to brace itself just before Carn's blades find flesh. It is able to stay conscious, but the realization that this is the end flashes across its face.
The Ekans curls up and rests its head, eyes closed and prepared to depart. The hisses escaping its mouth sound almost like...prayers.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Piri Piri is able to connect this time and barrel through his three targets, flattening the Pansear especially. Buela's electricity finally puts the Simipour on the floor.
The remaining monkeys are even angrier now, once again yelling at the top of their lungs.
Perhaps that wasn't such a great idea.
Out of nowhere, an avalanche of snow and ice cascades across the battlefield, narrowly missing Piri Piri but engulfing almost all of the monkeys. The two Pansages are done for, while the Simisage looks to be hanging on by a thread.
The culprit suddenly appears right in front of you--a Sneasel! It quickly cuts down the remaining Pansear next to it, and then turns to you. "Hey, Buddy. Looks like you need some help here, huh?"Last edited by HZ514; 2012-10-07 at 11:06 AM.

Carn bends down and listens closely to the melancholy Ekans. "From what I can pick up, it sounds like he is praying...for his friend"--Carn points at the fallen Ekans--"to somehow live...and his sister"--pointing at the Pokeball with the caught Ekans--"to have a good life."
Carn stands back up and looks to you. "How noble."Last edited by HZ514; 2012-10-07 at 11:30 AM.

The Ekans' pattern of "speech" does not change. It may have heard you, it may have not. In any case, its hissed prayers continue unfettered by your words.
The blood from its Carn-inflicted wound is pooling around its curled up body. A breeze blows the coppery smell of it into your nose.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Leo looked at the Sneasel in astonishment. He'd never read anything about pokemon like sneasel being able to talk. And it had taken out so many of the elemental monkeys with one attack! Help would be wonderful, thank you.
Shaking his head to clear it of his confusion, he pulls out one of his last two pokeballs, and throws it at the Simisage. Piri Piri, unable to stop rolling, careens towards the Simisear, while Beula sends another jolt of electricity at the monkey if it withstands the hit.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
SpoilerD'oh! The Simisage's capture rate is (10+15+20)=45. So close!
Your pokeball engulfs the Simisage in a burst of light. The ball hits the ground and starts shaking violently. While that happens, your coordinated attacks are able to knock the Simisear out.
As the Simisear hits the ground with a thud, the pokeball bursts open! The Simisage is none too pleased about being cooped up in there, and seeing its last comrade fall makes it even angrier. Before it can act on that rage, though, the Sneasel quickly runs up to it and effortlessly cuts it down.
SpoilerYou won!
Each of your Pokemon receive (6*10*10 + 3*30*12) / 3 = 560 EXP!
The Sneasel heads back toward you, taking stock of the battlefield around him. He looks amused when he says, "You really like those berries, huh?"

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Pitch eyes the snake. It was focused, devout even. He lifts his knife to end it, end that hissing, but stops. Maybe the snake could be useful. Maybe it would help his goals. Pitch could use it, use it as a weapon. If they were brother and sister, perhaps they would be even more useful. They'd be easy acquisitions to his family.
Pitch holds the Pokeball in his hand, then looks at the snake. He slams the Pokeball into its head, aiming for a capture, clenching the ball in his fist.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Leo walks over to the bushes, and picks a handful of the berries while Piri Piri and Nightlock busy themselves devouring the small fruits. They are very good berries: nice color, firm but not hard, and they have a wonderful taste; but I'm actually collecting them for somebody else. I need money to go traveling, and this is one way to make money. If you don't mind me asking, how do you know how to talk? I've never read anything about pokemon like you.
Realizing he had forgotten something, Leo cleared his throat, Thank you for helping out, it was getting a little bit dicey back there. Many thanks to Ceika for the wonderful avatar.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Nikolas happily waves them off and accepts the flute from Praelia with a nod of thanks. "Well, if they don't attack first I don't see why I should force a fight." Were trainers supposed to challenge Pokemon for captures the second they saw them? He supposed that made sense but if the other Pokemon didn't attack first wasn't it just mean? Shrugging his shoulders, Nikolas gathers Orobas in his arms and sets off once more. Xylo was still days away from here and if they didn't start on the trail now they would eventually run out of supplies.
"Come on guys, we're not even halfway to Xylo yet." At least they hadn't been attacked by those 'Trapinch' yet. He had sort of expected encountering one of them because of the warning the Ranger report had given him but he supposed those weren't always accurate. Thinking about the Trapinch however, reminded him of an earlier question. "Hey Praelia, what's a 'shiny' Pokemon?"Last edited by Bad Situation; 2012-10-07 at 02:43 PM.

"Thank you!" Mordecai shook his head. "I had a lot of luck, really."
He accepted the gifts very gratefully. "Thank you so much! Phew, these will help a lot."
"Dile dile DILE!" The totodile wanted /out/ of the orderly's hands, and thus got out. "Dile!" He proclaimed angrily at the orderly, before turning and rushing towards Mordecai.
"Sorry about that - Kamoho caYeow!" As the totodile took his normal position with his jaws firmly locked on Mordecai's warm.
Mordecai, grimacing, held up his arm - totodile still thereon. "Theeere we go. I was wondering when that was gonna happen."
"Dmpfle." Came the muffled response by the totodile who refused to let go.
"Well, thanks again! Bye!" And with that, Mordecai headed out of the room, pulling on his totodile's jaws. "Lemme go, Kamoho, or you won't get to actually /eat/!"
He only tangentally noticed the other rangers in the room as he headed towards the food.Beginnings usually happen over trifles... even if it's a coincidence...

SpoilerGoing to be referring to the Sneasel as Sicarius from now on because it's easier to type.
Sicarius seems pretty nonplussed by your description of the berries. He grins at your gratitude. "Don't mention it, Bub. As for the whole being able to talk thing, I guess I'm just special like that. Ain't no rules against that, are there? And hey, if there are? Exception to the rule, right here," he says, pointing at himself, smiling.Last edited by HZ514; 2012-10-08 at 01:28 AM.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
"How noble of you," Praelia observes. Your group travels in peace for a while, a trip livened up only temporarily by a couple of Buneary hopping along the trees just long enough for you to scan them.
At your question, Praelia drifts off into thought for a second before answering. "Shiny? Oh, yes. Some Pokemon are born with genetic...differences than others of their species. As a result, they are unusual colors, classified as "shiny" by humans. They are at once prized and shunned. Theirs is an odd existence."
SpoilerGo ahead and roll for your encounter today. Also, I think I might have given you Praelia's Intelligence as 5? It should be 6.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Without the doctor and nurse obscuring your sight, you are able to really look around the infirmary for the first time. An Audino is dutifully taking care of some patients across the room, assisted by a couple of young Happiny.
Back in the cafeteria, there are ample Pokemon to scan as well. If you so choose, you would be able to gain information on Nidorina, Weepinbell, Swinub, Chatot, Primeape, Elekid, and Espeon
You wait in the line for food and eventually get served the...healthy looking meal. There's enough for you and any Pokemon you wish to feed. There are plenty of open spots around the room for you to sit, as well.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
"Oh, well I'm asking because apparently there was a 'shiny' Trapinch sighting on the trail according to a Ranger report. I was wondering if I had something to worry about, but if they're just a different color I guess that doesn't make them stronger or anything." Pocketing the Pokedex, Nikolas takes in a mouthful of the earthy forest air. City living was where he belonged but it was nice to take to the trails when he could. The Pokemon probably appreciated it at any rate. "And even if they were stronger, I guess I wouldn't have much to worry about with you guys by my side."

Praelia nods. "They are in every other way identical to their brethren."
Loki continues to fly all around, having a blast while doing so. Orobas seems happy at the confidence you draw from your team.
Toward the middle of the afternoon, you're passing through a fairly innocuous stretch of trees when all of a sudden you feel...sleepy. You can't figure out...why...you yawn deeply...

Loki, on the other hand, is sort of just floating around randomly. Praelia, nonplussed by the ambush, attacks diligently and efficiently.

Re: PTA: Wuhtu (IC)
Mordecai swiftly picked a table, got a small amount of food, and plunked it on. "There! Yeesh!"
Kamoho noted the food, contemplated for a moment, then released Mordecai in favor of something with more substance.
"Yeesh." Mordecai repeated. "Okay then! Mealtime, guys!"
And out came his pokemon in a flurry. It wasn't very long before they were eating. Well, most of them anyway - Paka hopped on the plate, hopped off it, repeated this a couple dozen times, either fell off or intentionally fluttered to the floor, went back up, and would occasionally take a nibble here and there.
...but Paka was /just/ at a doctor, so maybe that wasn't something to be worried about. At least, that's what Mordecai reasoned.
"Drill!"
"Dile!"
"DRILL!"
"DILE!"
In which Mordecai reached over, snatching the buiscuit from between Kamoho and Pa'ao. "Guys! There's plenty of food for both of you!"
"Drill." Pa'ao slid a little bit away from Kamoho, scowling at him.
"Dile." The totodile was... well similar, but he was more focused on eating. Mordecai sighed, glancing at Kaulu - who was sitting quietly at the table eating his fill.
The only presumably-normal pokemon he had seemed so weird by comparison.
"Huh." Pokedex beeping, Mordecai glanced at Kaulu, then back to the primeape. "Hopefully I can train you to where you get that big, Kaulu."
The mankey nodded, then went back to eating - leaving Mordecai to break up another potential fight between Kamoho and Pa'ao.Beginnings usually happen over trifles... even if it's a coincidence...
